Cause of death of woman with 26 iPhones glued to her revealed
A cause of death for a woman who passed away with 26 iPhones glued to her body has been revealed.
The 20-year-old woman fell unwell while travelling on a bus in Guarapuava, in Brazil's central region of Paraná on Tuesday evening. Reports indicate that she was journeying alone from Foz do Iguaçu to São Paulo.
The bus pulled over at a restaurant when the woman began to suffer respiratory problems, reports the Mirror.
Emergency services were called to the scene as she struggled with a shortness of breath. Initially, it was unclear, but her symptoms were linked to post-seizure and respiratory distress.
She deteriorated and later stopped breathing. Paramedics tried to resuscitate the woman for approximately 45 minutes but she was declared dead at the scene.
During the medical emergency, medics noticed multiple packages including the phones were attached to her body.
Police also found several bottles of alcohol in her luggage.
Following suspicions of smuggling, police sniffer dogs were also brought to the scene. However, no drugs were found on the victim.
According to Brazilian media outlet Globo, officers had previously stated: "The Paraná Civil Police are investigating the case and awaiting the conclusion of forensic reports to clarify the cause of death.
"According to preliminary information, the woman, who was alone, was traveling from Foz do Iguaçu to São Paulo. The 26 cell phones that were glued to her body were seized and sent to the Federal Revenue Service."
The case remains ongoing.

'Neighbours let kids play in my garden without permission - they won't stop'
'Neighbours let kids play in my garden without permission - they won't stop' The homeowner asked her neighbours to stop letting their kids play in her garden - they called her "unreasonable" Neighbours keep letting their kids play in my garden without asking (Image: SolStock via Getty Images) A homeowner has expressed her frustration after her neighbours repeatedly allowed their children to play in her garden without permission, leaving her at a loss for what to do. Seeking guidance on Reddit, the woman shared that when she confronted her neighbours about the issue, they labelled her "unreasonable" and insisted they should be able to send their kids over without checking first. She explained that she has invested "a lot of time and effort" into creating a "peaceful oasis" in her garden for her family's enjoyment. Despite this, her neighbours, who have three young children, seem to think it's acceptable to let their kids use her garden as their playground without seeking consent. The woman recounted how the neighbours "claim that it's just harmless fun, and the kids enjoy our garden." She noted that while she isn't opposed to sharing her space on occasion, she would much prefer it if they asked for permission beforehand. In her Reddit post, the user said: "My next-door neighbours have three young children who are always full of energy. Lately, they've been letting their kids play in our backyard without asking for our permission. They claim that it's just harmless fun, and the kids enjoy our garden," reports the Mirror. "Here's the thing: I don't mind sharing our space occasionally, but they've been doing this without any notice or asking for our consent. It's become a frequent occurrence, and it's starting to disrupt our peace and damage some of our plants and decorations." The homeowner said her neighbours let their kids into her garden without permission and won't stop (Image: Getty) She further mentioned that when she approached the neighbours to discuss the matter, she encountered opposition. Her neighbours "seemed offended" and said she was "being unreasonable." She added: "They argued that it's a shared space since our yards are adjacent." Concluding the post, she wrote: "I just want to maintain some control over my own space and ensure it's respected. Or am I overreacting, and should I be more lenient with the neighbour kids?" The post garnered thousands of responses, with many siding with the woman's desire to keep her garden private. Suggestions poured in about erecting fences to limit access, while others pondered how the neighbours would react if the roles were reversed. Amongst the feedback, concerns were voiced regarding potential injuries to the children on the woman's property. One person said: "If one of those kids gets injured on your property while playing without proper supervision, you could be held liable." Another added: "I'm not a lawyer, but I'd be concerned if one of the kids hurt themselves and any liability you may have, especially if you're not home. What if they break something, will they replace it. "No and each time you see them playing without permission tell them to leave or escort them home. You may need to get a fence." Article continues below A third added: "This is a liability. Build a fence. You don't want to be sued if their kids injure themselves on your property."

Graham Potter gives update on Lucas Paqueta's future as betting charges dropped
West Ham and Brazil star Lucas Paqueta has been cleared of allegations of breaching the FA's betting rules and Hammers boss Graham Potter has broken his silence on the midfielder's future West Ham boss Graham Potter believes Lucas Paqueta remains committed to the Hammers in the aftermath of his betting charges being cleared. The Brazilian midfielder was charged with allegedly breaching FA rule E5 in 2023. He was accused of spot-fixing matches by getting booked. But he has since been proven innocent following a lengthy investigation. During the process, the former Lyon midfielder was linked with a move away from the London Stadium - Brazilian side Flamengo having emerged as potential suitors for Paqueta. Asked about the 27-year-old's future, Potter did not rule a move out entirely but believes that the midfielder remains committed to West Ham. He said: "You never know for sure because anything can happen in the window with anybody. But the news is incredibly positive. If it had gone the other way, there would have been a whole other line of questions. "Lucas is happy and committed. He is an important person in dressing room and at the club and we love him. We just want to help him enjoy his football. "You can imagine on a personal level for him, having to fight those allegations was an incredible challenge for him. It has been a really tough period in his life and career. It is a credit to him and his family and everyone who has supported him that he has come through." Paqueta issued a statement in the aftermath of the FA's decision. He wrote: 'Since the first day of this investigation, I have maintained my innocence against these extremely serious accusations. 'I can't say anything more at this time, but I would like to express how grateful I am to God and how eager I am to return to playing football with a smile on my face. To my wife who never let go of my hand, to West Ham United, to the fans who always cheered me on, and to my family, friends and the legal team who have supported me – thank you for everything.' Paqueta was signed from French side Lyon back in 2022 for a fee of around £51m. Since then, he has made 120 appearances for the London outfit, scoring 18 goals, while he also helped the Hammers win the Europa Conference League in 2023. He still has two years remaining on his contract with West Ham with the option for a further year. Paqueta was strongly linked with a big-money move to Manchester City in 2023 but saw a move shelved. 'People begged us to call the police after our creepy discovery on popular beach'
Two friends strolling on a beach in Ireland came across a glass bottle with a message sealed inside - and things got even weirder when they translated the letter Two pals got far more than they bargained for when they stumbled across an eerie message on the beach. Chris Hurley, 29, and Matthew Laming, 39, who live in Galway, Ireland, were on a work trip to the Aran Islands and decided to visit Inisheer Island on Saturday, July 19, to see the Plassey shipwreck. But things took a mysterious turn when they discovered a washed up bottle. On closer inspection, they found a handwritten note lodged inside with an ominous message. It comes after a woman, 20, was found dead on bus with 26 iPhones glued to her body. As they enjoyed a walk along the shore, they stumbled across the glass object in a nearby rock pool. "It was sealed with wax, so we thought it was very strange," Chris, a quality inspector by trade, tells the Mirror. "We thought it was a hoax and were going to give it to a child to have fun opening it. But since we found it, we've had this obligation to check it out." Matt, a supervisor, described the cork as "sealed with a white wax which had a floral scent." He added: "The note was rolled up and held in place with a piece of twine which seemed to have also been dipped in the same wax. The wax was very flaky." Chris continued: "We brought it back to the pub and tried getting it [the message out], but we couldn't. There was a lot of effort put into it. So one of our other coworkers ended up smashing the bottle. "The note was slightly damp when we got out of the bottle, perhaps some water got in or maybe it was condensation inside the bottle. The letter was quite stained," Matt also revealed. But the message inside was far from what they could ever have imagined. The handwritten note only contained three English words - 'Help', 'Hello', and SOS' - the rest was in a different language. From this, the pals knew they had to translate the full letter, and with the help of some useful software, they made a startling discovery. Deciphering what they thought to be Indonesian, they translated the message to: "Please send help we are lost since 12/20. There are 3 of us here we do not know the name of this island and we are injured." Chinese symbols were also included at the bottom of the note, and after sharing their discovery on Reddit, one reader suggested it related to Yong Yu Sing #18 - a ship that was discovered without any crew on it back in January 2021. The post received over a million views, and many were trying to figure out what really happened. "There's a lot of speculation around, and it's very interesting", Chris said. But the frenzy didn't end there, as the friends were encouraged to take it to the police to investigate further. "Loads of people were saying, 'You have to hand it in to the authorities and others were saying they were already contacting the coast guard in Taiwan," Chris said. It eventually made national news in Taiwan and a series of news reports emerged about the ship that was discovered without any crew, four years ago. The Su'ao fishing boat Yong Yu Xing No. 18 lost contact in the waters near Hawaii on December 30, 2020, Central News Agency reports. There was said to be "no distress signal at the time," and on January 1, 2021, the shipowner "notified the Su'ao District Fisheries Radio Station and requested assistance". On board, there was reportedly a Taiwanese captain named Li and nine Indonesian crew members. However, when an aircraft later spotted the ship drifting out at sea, no crew members were found onboard, and their whereabouts were unknown. Chris and Matt handed the note to the local police in Ireland, who agreed that it was "fascinating" and said they would take a further look into it. Chris added that he's yet to hear an update from the cops, but is eager to see if anything comes from their surprise discovery. "It's the last thing you'd expect to come across during a work trip, especially," Chris said. "But we had to hand it in, otherwise we'd always ask ourselves, 'what if?'"
