"No authority" RJD MP slams Nitish Kumar govt on murder of businessman Gopal Khemka in Patna
The incident evoked a sharp reaction from the opposition party, with Congress going on to say that there is 'Gundaraj' in Bihar. The murder came months ahead of the assembly elections due later in the year.
The Bihar Police have set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the murder case, to be headed by the Patna Central SP.
The incident took place on July 4
Superintendent of Police (SP), Patna, Diksha told ANI on Saturday, 'On the night of July 4, at around 11 pm, we received information that businessman Gopal Khemka has been shot dead in the south area of the Gandhi Maidan...'
'What would Khemka's family think? This incident occurred late at night. Is there anything called government here? I will not ask this question to anyone now. The murderers believe that the government is theirs. They can do whatever they want, whenever they want; the state government has no authority... They should be ashamed. What have they done to Bihar...,' Jha told ANI.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Premchand Mishra hit out at the state government and said that there is 'gundaraj' in Bihar. Mishra stated that such incidents are happening repeatedly and the state government have failed to protect the lives of people.
'There is 'Gundaraj' in Bihar. A criminal commits a crime, flees, and the police continue to watch. In the capital, Patna, where there are so many security forces, an eminent businessman gets murdered, and the people of the government are sitting there, claiming that this is the rule of law. This is not the law. Nitish Kumar and the BJP government are failing to protect the lives and property of the people. Such incidents are happening repeatedly', Prem Chand Mishra told ANI.
Meanwhile, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav alleged that hundreds of businessmen were being killed in Bihar, but it couldn't be called 'Jungle Raj.'
Yadav, a former Deputy Chief Minister, also raised questions over the law and order situation and said, 'A few steps away from the police station in Patna, a prominent Bihar businessman was shot dead!'
'Hundreds of businessmen are being murdered in Bihar every month, but we can't call it jungle raj? Because this is what the scriptures call media management, perception management, and image management', Tejashwi Yadav wrote on 'X' in Hindi. (ANI)

Teacher's name printed as ‘Kutta' on Ration card, responds by barking at magistrate; old video resurfaces
A protest from 2022 is back in the spotlight after a video of a West Bengal teacher barking at a government official has gone viral on social media. The reason? His name was misprinted as 'Kutta'- Hindi for 'dog', on his ration card. The incident took place in Bankura district during a Duarey Sarkar camp, a West Bengal government outreach programme. Srikanti Kumar Dutta, a qualified teacher, had spent weeks trying to get the error corrected through official channels. Repeated visits, paperwork, and appeals went nowhere. 'I felt humiliated,' Mr Dutta had told NDTV in 2022. 'I had to go three times, but no one listened. I'm a qualified teacher, yet I haven't been called for any interview.' When even the camp's senior officials ignored his request, Dutta walked up to a car marked Executive Magistrate and began barking loudly — an act he later described as a desperate response to being repeatedly dismissed. 'If the person who made this mistake had 'Kutta' written next to his name, what would he have done?' he said. The act, recorded on video at the time, received limited attention then. But now, in 2025, the clip has resurfaced and gone viral, drawing renewed attention to the everyday bureaucratic delays citizens face. Dutta's name was eventually corrected two days after the protest. He thanked the media for amplifying his voice, saying, 'There must be thousands like me. Just look at the growing crowd at the correction counters- it speaks for itself.' Commenting on the video, a user wrote, 'Can imagine his level of frustration.' Another user wrote, 'Flaming protest..!! A 360 degree performance.' The third user commented on X, 'It's a very novel way of protest. He's actually drilled it in so well. Misspelling such a beautiful name as Dutta into Kutta is so horrifying. If I was this Dutta, I would have not only barked, but also bitten the BDO!'
