? USA 2, Mexico 2 (USA wins 4-3 in penalties): This won't be easy for USMNT, but it's time to see if they're going to answer the call -- not just on the pitch, but engaging the country's interest to another level before the World Cup. -- Safid Deen
? Mexico 2, USA 1: This is a tall task for the -- outside of veteran defender Tim Ream -- largely green USMNT. The 70,000-seat NRG Stadium is going to be filled with El Tri fans and the place might feel more like Estadio Azteca, Mexico City's cauldron of sound and fury that has been a bugaboo for the U.S. One also has to wonder how much the U.S. has left in the tank, as coach Mauricio Pochettino hasn't done much to mix up the starting lineups. Mexico comes in having lost its last three finals against the USMNT and will be highly motivated to turn the tide. According to BetMGM on Sunday afternoon, these are the odds for the regular-time result of the match: Mexico +150; Draw +185; USA +210. Mexico are favorites to lift the trophy (-135) over the U.S. (+105).
You ask former U.S. men's national soccer team standouts Marcelo Balboa and Stu Holden about the Concacaf Gold Cup final, and the competitive spirit just oozes from their soul.
Especially since USMNT will face its biggest rival, Mexico, in the Sunday, July 6 match at NRG Stadium in Houston.
"Listen, you never want to lose to Mexico," Balboa, 57, told USA TODAY Sports, before he joins the Gold Cup's Spanish-language broadcast on Univision, TUDN and ViX. "I'm retired. I haven't played against Mexico a long time. Even when I play in the old legends games, I don't want to lose to Mexico." -- Safid Deen

Arne Slot and wife's heartbreaking message to Diogo Jota at Anfield tribute
Liverpool star Diogo Jota tragically died aged 28 alongside his brother last week following a car crash and fans have been laying flowers outside Anfield, where Arne Slot visited on Tuesday Liverpool manager Arne Slot and his wife, Mirjam, left a touching message as they laid flowers outside Anfield in remembrance of Diogo Jota. Portugal international Jota was killed alongside his younger brother, Andre, in a devastating car crash last week. They were travelling near Zamora, northwestern Spain in the early hours of Thursday morning when the incident took place. Spanish police say that 'everything is pointing' towards Jota being the driver while initial tests indicate that the 28-year-old may have been in excess of the speed limit on that stretch of motorway. Tributes continue to flood in from around the world, with the brothers' funeral - which Slot and multiple Liverpool players attended - having taken place over the weekend. On Tuesday, the Dutchman and his wife travelled to Anfield, where fans have been putting down flowers, scarves and flags in remembrance of Jota and 26-year-old Andre. Liverpool's CEO of football, Michael Edwards, was also there to pay his respects in person, as was Liverpool defender Andy Robertson. Slot, 46, laid flowers with a note attached from himself, Mirjam, daughter Isa and son Joep. "Diogo, we had the same dream and we fulfilled it together," their message began. "Andre and yourself will forever be in our hearts. Arne, Mirjam, Isa and Joep." Slot also wrote a poignant tribute after Jota's death which was posted on the club's website. "What to say? What can anyone say at a time like this when the shock and the pain is so incredibly raw? I wish I had the words but I know I do not," he began. "All I have are feelings that I know so many people will share about a person and a player we loved dearly and a family we care so much about. My first thoughts are not those of a football manager. They are of a father, a son, a brother and an uncle and they belong to the family of Diogo and Andre Silva who have experienced such an unimaginable loss. "My message to them is very clear – you will never walk alone. The players, the staff, the supporters of Liverpool Football Club are all with you and from what I have seen today, the same can be said of the wider family of football. "This is not solely a response to tragedy. It is also a reaction to the goodness of the people involved and the respect that so many have for the boys as individuals and for the family as a whole. "For us as a club, the sense of shock is absolute. Diogo was not just our player. He was a loved one to all of us. He was a teammate, a colleague, a workmate and in all of those roles he was very special. "I could say so much about what he brought to our team but the truth is everyone who watched Diogo play could see it. Hard work, desire, commitment, great quality, goals. The essence of what a Liverpool player should be. "There were also the parts that not everyone got to see. The person who never sought popularity but found it anyway. Not a friend to two people, a friend to everyone. Someone who made others feel good about themselves just by being with them. A person who cared deeply for his family. "The last time we spoke, I congratulated Diogo on winning the Nations League and wished him luck for his forthcoming wedding. In many ways, it was a dream summer for Diogo and his family, which makes it all the more heartbreaking that it should end like this. "When I first came to the club, one of the first songs I got to know was the one that our fans sing for Diogo. I had not worked with him previously but I knew straight away that if the Liverpool supporters, who have seen so many great players over the years, had such a unique chant for Diogo, he must have special qualities. "That we have lost those qualities in such terrible circumstances is something we have not yet come to terms with. For this reason, we need everyone at the club to stand together and to be there for one another. We owe this to Diogo, to Andre Silva, to their wider family and to ourselves. "My condolences go to Diogo's wife, Rute, their three beautiful children and to the parents of Diogo and Andre Silva. When the time is right, we will celebrate Diogo Jota, we will remember his goals and we will sing his song. "For the time being, we will remember him as a unique human being and mourn his loss. He will never be forgotten. His name is Diogo."

Cameron Norrie responds after ‘weird' behaviour vs Carlos Alcaraz at Wimbledon
Cameron Norrie has issued a response after being accused of 'weird' behaviour during his Wimbledon quarter-final defeat to Carlos Alcaraz. Norrie was beaten in straight sets by the defending champion on Tuesday, ending British hopes in the singles, with Alcaraz easily winning 6-2 6-3 6-3. During the second set, Norrie tried to inject some energy into the Centre Court crowd and get himself going when his opponent fired a shot long. The British No.3 screamed out 'vamos' – which translates to 'let's go' in Spanish – with John McEnroe calling out Norrie on commentary duties. 'Was that Norrie saying vamos?' McEnroe said. 'It's weird for a guy that was born in South Africa, grew up in New Zealand and is a Brit, that he's saying vamos.' Norrie was quizzed about shouting 'vamos' during the match in his press conference and was asked to clarify if it was his normal celebration or if he did it specifically because he was playing against the Spaniard. 'My coach (Facundo Lugones) is Argentinian,' Norrie responded. 'I was saying kind of 'vamos' the whole tournament. Just trying to bring myself energy.' Norrie is the last British player to crash out of the singles and admits it would've been nice to have seen Jack Draper and Emma Raducanu go deeper this year. Draper lost in the second round to Croatian veteran Marin Cilic while Raducanu fell short to world No.1 Aryna Sabalenka in the third round. Quizzed on being the last Brit knocked out, and if he was overlooked by the media and the public, Norrie added: 'Yeah, honestly I don't care about that. 'It would have been nice to see them (Draper and Raducanu), or Jack at least, go deeper. 'It would have been nice to see. I think he would have liked that, too. He's one of the best players in the world at the moment. 'For me, no, I was just concentrated on myself. I was feeling very relaxed before the tournament. I was hitting the ball well. 'Obviously it would have been nice to have a few more matches on the grass. I had a really tough draw. 'I was playing Roberto Bautista Agut. He had a good run at Queen's. I was trying to take it a match at a time. I'm really happy with how I played. 'I'm not really thinking about that [other] stuff too much. Yeah, I'm just happy to be enjoying my tennis more than anything. 'I'm not caring about who else is doing well. It would be nice to see that. But no, I was happy with the way I was enjoying my tennis.'
