Plans afoot to plant 2 lakh saplings in coordination with forest department, says TTD Addl. EO
Speaking to the media after planting a sapling of Ficus Bengalensis (Banyan-Marri) in the premises of Octopus building, he said that over 2,000 saplings are being planted in various parts atop the temple town as part of the green initiative.
Highlighting the ecological importance of each tree in Tirumala, Mr. Chowdary stated that the TTD is discouraging the planting of foreign species that could harm native flora. 'We have identified 40 native plant species through detailed research and the focus is on planting them to preserve the region's natural biodiversity.''
Emphasising the TTD's commitment to environmental conservation, Mr. Chowdary noted that the management has already banned the use of plastic in the temple town and further steps are in the offing to make the town plastic-free. Despite the ban, devotees often bring plastic items and throw them out of vehicle windows along the ghat roads, he said and underlined the need to create more awareness and stepping up monitoring at the Alipiri checkpoint.
He also announced the temple administration's ambitious plans to plant an additional 2,00,000 saplings in coordination with the Forest Department in the days to come.
The event among others was attended by Deputy Conservator of Forests Srinivasulu, Deputy EO Somanna Rayana and EE Sudhakar.

Tirumala Jeeyars begin Chaturmasya Deeksha
Tirumala: The traditional Chaturmasya Deeksha Sankalpam was launched by His Holiness Sri Pedda Jeeyar Swami of Tirumala on Sunday. According to Sri Vaishnava tradition established by Bhagavad Ramanujacharya, Chaturmasya Deeksha begins on Ashada Shuddha Ekadashi, marking the day when Sri Vishnu enters Yoga Nidra, and ends on Karthika Shuddha Ekadashi when he wakes up. This four-month period is considered spiritually significant. As part of the rituals, HH Pedda Jeeyar performed Kalasha Sthapana, Vishwaksena Aradhana, Medhini Puja and Mrutsangrahanam at the Jeeyar Mutt. Later, he proceeded with HH Chinna Jeeyar and disciples to Swami Pushkarini, Sri Varaha Swamy temple, and then to the main temple amidst Mangala Vaidyams. TTD Chairman B R Naidu, EO J Syamala Rao, Additional EO Ch Venkaiah Chowdary, and temple officials welcomed them at Mahadwaram. The Jeeyars had darshan of Sri Venkateswara and they were later presented with Melchat Vastram and Noolchat Vastram respectively. Later, both Jeeyars also offered blessings to the Chairman, EO and Additional EO on the occasion.

Tirumala Brahmotsavams to be held from Sept 24 to Oct 2
Tirumala: This year the Annual Brahmotsavam of Lord Venkateswara will be held for nine days. A major religious congregation, which attracts hundreds of thousands of devotees all over country, will be held for nine days from September 24 to October 2. TTD Additional EO Ch Venkaiah Chowdary held a meeting with heads of all departments on the elaborate arrangemens to be made for the smooth and successful conduct of the nine-day festival. Speaking on the occasion, Chowdary said expecting heavy rush of devotees to witness the nine-day festival, the TTD cancelled VIP break darshan and privilege darshan to cope with a rush. The privilege darshans including senior citizens, physical challenged, parents with infants, NRIs, or donors during this period were suspended. The nine-day festival schedule is as follows: September 16, 2025: Koil Alwar Tirumanjanam, September 23, Ankurarpanam, Dwajarohanam, September 28 Garuda Vahanam, October 1 Rathotsavam and Oct 2 Chakrasnanam. Vahana Sevas will be held from 8 am to 10 am and 7 pm to 9 pm daily. The Additional EO asked the officials to coordinate with vigilance and police departments for tight security and smooth traffic management, prepare roadmaps and parking layouts. Extensive Annaprasadam distribution arrangements will be made at galleries, queue lines and key locations Engineering department was asked to take up works based on pilgrim needs and ensure clean and functional toilets in all galleries with additional sanitation staff. The department staff was asked to arrange decorative lighting, fruit and flower displays to attract pilgrims. In connection with the Brahmotsavams, young Srivari Sevaks are being invited to offer quality services to pilgrims. Movement of two-wheelers will be restricted on Tirumala ghat roads from 9 pm on September 27 to 6 am on September 29 in view of Garuda Seva on September 28. The Additional EO asked the officials to ensure adequate stock of laddus based on expected footfall. Lord Malayappa rides on Garuda Vahanam
Tirumala: On the auspicious occasion of Guru Poornima also known as Vyasa Poornima, the sacred Garuda Vahana Seva was performed with celestial grandeur at Srivari temple at Tirumala on Thursday evening. Adorned in all divine ornaments, Sri Malayappa Swamy was taken for a majestic procession on Garuda Vahanam along the four mada streets, blessing thousands of devotees. Tirumala Sri Pedda Jeeyar Swamy, Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swamy, Union Minister of State Bandi Sanjay, TTD Board Member Bhanu Prakash Reddy, Additional EO Ch Venkaiah Chowdary, Deputy EO Lokanatham and others were also present.
