
JLR returns Defender to competition past with new Trophy Edition
Latest special edition coincides with the newly named Defender Challenge that kicks-off next year in association with the Tusk conservation programme.

JLR has unveiled its latest special edition Defender that celebrates that only past events like the G4 Challenge and Camel Trophy, but its partnership with the Tusk conservation programme.
Changes
Now available as a limited edition based on the Defender 110 D350 X-Dynamic SE, the Trophy Edition takes the name of the latter event, but without the obvious reference to its former sponsor.

Available in two colours, Deep Sandglow Yellow or Keswick Green, the Trophy's unique exterior additions consist of gloss black 20-inch alloy wheels wrapped in all-terrain tyres, gloss black wheel arch cladding, darkened front and rear scuffplates, special Trophy badges, a black bonnet and additional black finishes on the recovery hooks, brake calipers and side body moulds.

As standard, the otherwise optional accessories, the roof rack, side-mounted storage boxes, snorkel, mud flaps and deployable side ladder, are all included from the start.

Inside, the, crossbeam which runs the width of the passenger's side dashboard, has been colour matched with the selected body colour, and illuminated Trophy treadplates fitted upon entry. Ebony Windsor leather rounds the interior off.
Same power
Up front, the Defender Trophy Edition remains mechanically unchanged from the X-Dynamic SE, meaning as is outputs of 257kW/700Nm from the 3.0-litre Ingenium straight-six turbodiesel engine.

Sending the amount of twist to all four wheels once again falls to a ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic gearbox.
Defender Trophy event
Now available, the Trophy's arrival coincides with the revived Defender Trophy, of which applications close on 31 July.

A process of regional eliminations in 50 countries will then take place, until the event final kicks-off next year in Africa in co-operation with Tusk.
As in the original Camel Trophy, teams will be put through a series of challenges involving physical, driving and ingenuity.

The new Defender Trophy: Reviving the spirit of adventure and conservation
The Defender Trophy is back and with it a new Defender 110 Trophy Edition. Well, it's not called that anymore, obviously, but the ethos of those gruelling and epic challenges in yellow Land Rovers returns with the new Defender Trophy. Inspired by Trophy and Challenge events of the past, this Defender Trophy will create its own legacy across three demanding rounds of training and competition. Defender says only those who embrace the impossible, with a passion for global conservation, need apply, as well as individuals who embody the values of the original British adventure brand.. They are inviting entries from more than 50 countries. Local selections will begin this year, before national finals early next year determine who will make it to the global final hosted with Defender conservation partner Tusk – in Africa – in 2026. New model They have also launched a new Defender 110 Trophy Edition in a choice of two exclusive heritage-inspired colours – Deep Sandglow Yellow and Keswick Green – featuring a specially chosen adventure-ready specification. Eligibility Eligibility requirements include: entrants are resident in a participating country, over 23-years-old, can swim 50 metres, eligible to drive and travel internationally, and speak English. An unstoppable spirit is also essential, they demand. Applications are open now and the deadline for entries is 31 July 2025. New Land Rover Defender 110 Trophy Edition honours adventures past
Land Rover is paying tribute to the iconic Camel Trophy cars of decades past with the launch of the new Defender 110 Trophy Edition. Though the British marque has stubbed out all reference to RJ Reynolds' greatest export, it's reigniting nostalgia through the use of Deep Sandglow Yellow paint: a modern day take of the distinctive hue that coloured all the vehicles that took part in the competition from 1980 until its eventual demise in 2000. A second shade, Keswick Green, is also available. No matter which you pick, both get a contrasting gloss black finish applied to the bonnet, lower body side, brake calipers and rear recovery eyes. Optional matte protective film is available to fend off bush rash. Other features include gloss black 20-inch alloy wheels shod with all‑terrain tyres, a dark rear scuff plate, gloss black wheel arch guards and a black front undershield. Trophy decals and badging adorn the bonnet, C-pillar and tailgate. Those rugged, khaki-wearing Camel Men of the 1980s and 1990s, however, might scoff at the illuminated Trophy treadplates and Ebony Windsor leather seats. Ditto the exposed cross car beam that wears laser‑etched endcaps with Trophy branding. Though they would probably be quite approving of the range of optional accessories that include an expedition roof rack, roof ladder, front/rear mud flaps, raised air intake for better dust filtration and side-mounted gear carrier providing space for muddy, wet or sandy items. Or, just maybe, a cheeky carton of ciggies to complement those pensive stares across the windswept badlands they've just tackled. Cue the Ennio Morricone... The new Land Rover Defender 110 Trophy Edition is now available to order in the UK and priced from £89,810 (R2,174,777). Local availability is yet to be confirmed.
