T-Mobile, AT&T, and Verizon are experiencing major issues in Kansas City

Phone Arena18-07-2025
If you're in Kansas City and have been having trouble placing calls, you're not alone. T-Mobile, and possibly AT&T and Verizon as well, are all experiencing major issues across the city right now. These problems have reportedly been ongoing for a week now, with no fix in sight.
One T-Mobile user brought attention to this in an online forum thread. Apparently, T-Mobile coverage has been spotty recently, and calls are dropping the moment a user leaves an area covered by 5G. According to the post, similar problems have been occurring on other networks as well. The situation is bad enough that one establishment was unable to process card payments as its connection to its carrier had dropped. Coworkers of the original poster have also corroborated the claims, and so have random customers at an eatery.
User reports at other places also indicate that Kansas City is having problems with calls, data, and even complete loss of service. As of now, there has been no word from T-Mobile , AT&T , or Verizon . These problems will likely continue for the next few days until someone takes notice and applies a fix.
T-Mobile has an expansive and robust network across the States. | Image credit — T-Mobile Such outages are, of course, not something to be too concerned about. However, if these issues have indeed persisted for a week now, I can understand the frustration that residents of the city may be feeling. There might be work going on at certain cell sites, or some towers may have gone down and teams might already be working to fix them up. T-Mobile recently fortified its network massively across the state of Florida. The new and improved Florida T-Mobile infrastructure will massively help in dealing with the extreme weather conditions that often occur there. However, technical problems are a dime a dozen, and problems like the ones currently taking place in Kansas City are to be expected. If all of the major carriers are having problems in the city, then the cause might be a more complicated one that may take a bit longer to resolve.
We've reached out to T-Mobile , AT&T , and Verizon for a comment and will update the story when we have a response.

Nintendo sold almost 6 million Switch 2 units in less than a month

The Switch 2 continues to be a very successful product for Nintendo. Following over 3.5 million units sold in the first week, Nintendo has now announced that it's sold 5.82 million units by the end of June. That's almost a full month of availability, and the number is more than double what the original Switch managed in its first month on the market - 2.7 million units sold. Nintendo says demand for the Switch 2 is still exceeding supply "in many countries", and regrets the inconvenience this is causing. It's promised to increase production to match demand everywhere. The Switch 2 has become the fastest-selling game console of all time. The Switch 2's success has driven a 132% rise in quarterly revenue for Nintendo in Q2 (April to June), up to $3.8 billion, compared to Q2 2024 (around $1.6 billion). The company is forecasting 15 million Switch 2 units sold by the end of March next year. It remains to be seen how US tariffs may or may not impact that, as the Trump administration has just announced a 20% tariff on imports from Vietnam, where the Switch 2 is manufactured (up from 10% before). Apple has already sold more than 3 billion iPhones

Vlad, 01 August 2025 If you've been wondering what the total number of iPhones ever sold is, we now have the answer, straight from Apple itself: as of today, over 3 billion. This was revealed by Apple CEO Tim Cook during the company's earnings call a few hours ago. Apple reached one billion iPhones sold in 2016, and is believed to have gone up to two billion sometime in 2021, although that hasn't been officially confirmed so far. And now, four years after that, another billion units have been sold. Cook said iPhone sales were up by double digits in the second quarter of this year (April to June), and Apple earned $94 billion in revenue, which was up 10% over Q2 of last year. Interestingly, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, who is always in the know with Apple-related stuff, has implied that the uptick in iPhone sales during this quarter might have been due to people panic-buying as a consequence of fear-mongering claims on the internet "predicting" that iPhones would end up costing $3,000 to $25,000 because of new tariffs imposed by the Trump administration. Apple says the new tariffs cost it $800 million in Q2, and it expects the number to rise to $1.1 billion in Q3 (July to September). In September, the company is due to unveil the new iPhone 17 family, which is rumored to include the very thin iPhone 17 Air, a replacement for the Plus model that has so far been the worst-selling of the series. The announcement is expected to come on September 8, 9, or 10. Source

New Verizon tactic might compel you to ditch your legacy plan

Carriers really want you off discontinued plans. While T-Mobile has kicked users off legacy plans without obtaining their permission, Verizon has come up with another strategy to make the old 5G Get More and 5G Play More plans less these plans let you enjoy either Apple Arcade or Google Play Pass. These subscription services let you access huge libraries of games for a monthly fee. Apple Arcade costs $6.99 per month, while Google Play Pass is $4.99/month. Verizon offered the game subscription services for free to customers on 5G Get More and 5G Play More plans, which were announced in 2021 but have been grandfathered now. As first spotted by Droid Life , Verizon has started notifying customers that the perks will soon stop being available to them. The company will discontinue them on September 22 and remove them from accounts on September 25. No more free Apple Arcade, Google Play Pass for 5G Get More and 5G Play More customers. | Image Credit - Droid Life Verizon hiked the prices on 5G Get More and 5G Play More by $4 in March, and a few months later, it's removing gaming perks. The company seemingly wants you to think that the plans are now poor value for money compared to what they offered before. It's no coincidence that Verizon sneakily slipped in a reminder that Apple Arcade is available with its newer myPlan. Customers on Verizon plans that come with six months of free Apple Arcade or Google Play Pass will begin to be charged if the promotional period ends before September 25, unless they cancel. If it ends on or after September 25, the subscription will simply be removed from their accounts. Verizon is reportedly also planning to hit customers with a series of price increases. The carrier has been losing customers due to price hikes, but that apparently hasn't deterred it from making moves that are likely to prove unpopular, such as removing loyalty discounts, which are offered to keep subscribers from switching.
