Field marshal rebukes 'external support' claims in Operation Bunyanum Marsoos
Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir has categorically rejected claims of foreign support in Operation Bunyanum Marsoos against India, calling them 'irresponsible and factually incorrect'. 'Insinuations regarding external support in Operation Bunyanum Marsoos are irresponsible and factually incorrect. They reflect a chronic reluctance to acknowledge indigenous capability and institutional resilience developed over decades of strategic prudence,' he stated. Last week, Indian Deputy Army Chief Lt General Rahul Singh admitted India's military defeat in the operation, further complicating India's already failed attempt to cover up its humiliation. Lt Gen Singh's statement, made two months after the operation's failure, included baseless accusations against Pakistan, claiming that its success was the result of foreign support from China and Turkey. However, security experts rejected these allegations, instead reaffirming that Pakistan's victory was achieved entirely through its own strength. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Munir made these remarks while addressing graduating officers of the National Security and War Course at the National Defence University (NDU) in Islamabad on Monday. Highlighting India's failure in Operation Sindoor and Pakistan's success in Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, Munir noted that India's inability to achieve its stated military objectives—and the subsequent attempts to justify this failure through convoluted logic—reflects its lack of operational readiness and strategic foresight. 'Naming other states as participants in a purely bilateral military conflagration is a shoddy attempt at playing camp politics,' he said. 'It is a desperate bid to portray India as the net security provider in a region that is increasingly weary of its hegemonic and extremist Hindutva ideology.' 'Any attempt to target our population centres, military bases, economic hubs, or ports will instantly invoke a 'deeply hurting and more than reciprocal response',' said COAS. Field Marshal Munir further stated that the onus of escalation will lie squarely on the 'strategically blind, arrogant aggressor who fails to recognise the grave repercussions of such provocative actions against a sovereign nuclear state.' Munir said, 'Pakistan has forged lasting partnerships based on principled diplomacy, anchored in mutual respect and peace, establishing itself as a stabilising force in the region.' Also Read: DG ISPR lauds students' role in Operation Bunyanum Marsoos He asserted that wars are not won through media rhetoric, imported fancy hardware, or political sloganeering, but through faith, professional competence, operational clarity, institutional strength, and national resolve. Field Marshal Munir concluded by expressing full confidence in the professionalism, morale, and combat readiness of Pakistan's armed forces. He urged the graduating officers to remain steadfast in their values of integrity, selfless service, and unwavering commitment to the nation. According to ISPR, the field marshal was warmly received by the President of NDU upon arrival. 'In his address, Field Marshal Munir highlighted the evolving character of warfare and underscored the centrality of mental preparedness, operational clarity, and institutional professionalism in navigating complex strategic issues,' read the ISPR statement. He also lauded NDU's role in strengthening civil-military synergy and nurturing future leadership capable of countering hybrid, conventional, and sub-conventional threats with poise and resolve. Operation Bunyanum Marsoos Pakistan Armed Forces conducted Operation Bunyanum Marsoos on May 10 as part of the military conflict 'Marka-e-Haq' in response to Indian military's dastardly attacks that began on the night of May 6 and 7, resulting in the loss of innocent civilian lives, including women, children, and the elderly. On May 10, Pakistan launched Operation Bunyanum Marsoos and deployed its Al-Fatah missile and targeted multiple Indian military installations. However, after the intervention of US President Donald Trump, a full and immediate ceasefire was reached between India and Pakistan.

FBR introduces Pakistan's first AI-powered customs clearance system
In a major move towards digitisation, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) unveiled Pakistan's first-ever Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based Customs Clearance and Risk Management System (RMS). The new system, launched on the directive of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, aimed at enhancing transparency, reducing human intervention, and facilitating trade, is expected to enhance the efficiency of import-export operations. The development came to light during a meeting regarding matters related to FBR held on Monday, read a statement released by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO). The briefing was told that under this system the cost and nature of goods, during import and export operations, will now be assessed using AI and bots. It was learnt that the risk management system will continue to improve automatically through machine learning, alongside the movement of goods. The meeting was informed that during initial testing, the new system demonstrated over 92% improved performance. The RMS not only determined 83% more Goods Declarations (GDs) for tax collection but also enabled 2.5 times more GDs to be cleared through the green channel. Pakistan's e-commerce sector faces operational costs surge amid new taxes The attendees were told that the new RMS will bring transparency to the system, minimize human intervention, and facilitate the business community. The system will allow instant and efficient estimation of goods and their value, resulting in time savings, the meeting noted. 'Reforming the FBR is among the top priorities of the government,' said PM Shehbaz. 'By automating the tax system, we are making it more transparent and effective. This technology-driven system will ease doing business and provide convenience to taxpayers,' he added. The prime minister also instructed that the new system be made integrated and sustainable, and praised the officers and staff involved in developing the new RMS. Moreover, a review meeting, chaired by PM Shehbaz, was held to assess ongoing FBR reforms. The meeting was informed about video analytics-based measures to improve tax collection in the manufacturing sector. The PM was told that through this system, tax recovery will be conducted in an automated and transparent manner. This will increase government revenue and allow taxpayers to pay taxes without human interaction. The system is low-cost and showed 98% efficiency during initial testing.
