9-year-old Michigan twins hailed as heroes after saving young girl motionless at bottom of pool
Ava and Addison Apostolopoulos were visiting their grandmother's home outside Detroit in late June, when they went for a swim in her apartment complex pool.

But when they got in the water, they quickly spotted a 4-year-old unresponsive at the bottom of the pool.

So the sisters jumped into action, with one racing for goggles to help them see underwater and the other diving under to pull the girl to safety.
They brought the tot to the surface and then alerted the adults nearby. Pool worker Cody Boyette rushed in to perform CPR while the twins' grandmother called 911.
The little girl was rushed to the hospital and survived thanks to Ava and Addison's heroic efforts.
And that bravery earned them recognition last week from the Wixom Police Department, which awarded them and Boyette its Civilian Citation Award.

'I have no doubt in my mind that these three people saved a young child's life,' Wixom Chief of Police Phil Langmeyer said at their award ceremony.
The twins' father, Jason, said he was deeply proud of them.
'We're just all about helping, we're aware of our surroundings and taught them the same thing, if you see something, do something,' he told ABC 7.

Ava and Addison are just pleased their new friend is okay.
'I am very happy she's alive now, and I hope she's having a good time. And I'm happy,' Ava said.

Hero cyclist, 28, killed shielding mom and children from knife-wielding madman at California train station
A beloved cyclist was allegedly stabbed to death by a knife-wielding madman after heroically stepping in to protect a mother and her children who were being harassed at a California train station. Colden Kimber, 28, was waiting at a Muni stop in San Francisco with his girlfriend on July 26 when a ranting lunatic approached a terrified family and hurled unhinged threats that prompted the 6-foot-4 New York native to courageously intervene, according to court documents obtained by KGO. 'Oh, you think you are better than me,' alleged assailant Sean Collins, 29, screamed at the mother and her two children at the Ingleside transit hub, adding, 'You are scared of me.' 5 Colden Kimber, 28, was killed on July 26 when a knife-wielding madman allegedly stabbed him in the neck. Gofundme Kimber, heading home from a lunch date, positioned himself between the frightened family and Collins when the frenzied attacker plunged a six-inch blade into the unsuspecting man's neck as he glanced toward an approaching train, court documents said. The San Francisco State University student and avid cyclist stopped moving after the 'completely and utterly unprovoked attack' as blood gushed out of his neck, officials said. 5 Police said the knifing happened at a Muni stop in Ingleside. Amusement park ride snaps in half, injuring more than 20 as horrified onlookers run for cover: video
An amusement park ride in Saudi Arabia collapsed, sending dozens of screaming riders hurtling to the ground in a horrific caught-on-video incident. ABC7 The nightmarish incident took place last week at Green Mountain Park in Taif near the country's western coast, located around 175 miles east of the Red Sea. Video posted on social media shows the ride rapidly swinging back and forth as it spins strapped-in passengers moments before the ride broke with a chilling metallic snap and crunching sound. Horrified witnesses said they saw lifeguards drag the 'limp' third-grader from the pool after she appeared to have gone into distress, performing CPR on her for several minutes.
