FM praises strategic, comprehensive partnership between Egypt, EU
He highlighted the recent approval by the European Parliament and the European Council of the second tranche of the EU's macro-financial assistance package to Egypt, valued at €4 billion, as a reflection of this partnership.
This came during Abdelatty's meeting on Monday, July 14th, 2025, with European Commissioner for the Mediterranean Dubravka Šuica, on the sidelines of the 5th Ministerial Meeting between EU Foreign Ministers and their Southern Neighborhood counterparts, held in Brussels.
Abdelatty said Egypt holds it as a priority to enhance economic, trade, and investment relations with the EU and to follow up on the outcomes of the EU-Egypt Investment Conference held in June 2024.
The meeting also featured a discussion on the upcoming Mediterranean Charter, which the EU plans to launch by the end of this year to promote political dialogue and stronger partnerships with Southern Mediterranean countries.
Additionally, he called for enhancing free trade by removing barriers to Egyptian exports entering European markets, establishing legal migration channels, and facilitating access to the European labor market.
He also stressed the need to work collectively toward de-escalating tensions in the region to foster peace and stability.

The talks also examined prospects for reviving negotiations between Iran, the IAEA, and the E3 group, with a view to reinvigorating diplomatic engagement and addressing persisting concerns over Iran's nuclear program, the spokesman said. This comes as the anticipated date to activate the UN sanctions mechanism draws near, expected within the next few weeks, according to announcements from the E3 countries, the spokesman added. During his call with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, Abdelatty discussed prospects for enhancing bilateral relations, particularly in the areas of trade, investment, and tourism, he added. During an official UAE state visit to Hungary, EDGE and 4iG SDT signed three MoUs aimed at enabling a broad technology partnership to jointly develop, localise, and market advanced defence systems, including EDGE's SKYKNIGHT air defence missile system, SHADOW 25 and SHADOW 50 loitering munitions, and VEGA and ORION unmanned air traffic control solutions. The agreement also covers the potential establishment of a joint venture. The second agreement is focused on the potential development and production of EDGE's rapidly deployable SKYKNIGHT inner-layer air defence missile system and SHADOW line of precision-strike loitering munitions in Hungary. The final agreement is aimed at offering EDGE's VEGA uncrewed traffic management and ORION drone fleet management systems to the European market, with the potential to jointly develop air traffic control solutions. The MoU also includes the assessment of a joint venture to serve as a European development and sales hub for VEGA and ORION. Egypt Assistant FM holds high-level meeting on political-trade ties with Canada - Foreign Affairs
Assistant Foreign Minister for US Affairs Sameh Aboul-Enein convened a high-level coordination meeting on Friday with members of the Egyptian-Canadian Business Council to follow up on the outcomes of the political and trade consultation round held in April. The meeting, which included senior officials from key ministries and national bodies as well as several Egyptian parliamentarians, focused on reviewing the progress of joint projects with Canada. Participants discussed frameworks designed to ensure continuity in building on the positive outcomes of the Egyptian delegation's recent visit to Canada, which included representatives from the Ministries of Investment and Foreign Trade, Petroleum and Mineral Resources, as well as business leaders and parliamentarians. The meeting also highlighted the need to sustain momentum in supporting Egypt's national strategy to boost investment opportunities, considering the economic dimension as a top priority of Egypt's foreign policy, particularly in terms of attracting foreign investments and increasing trade volume. The participants reviewed key investment opportunities in the Egyptian market for Canadian companies and explored ways to attract Canadian capital to the market. They emphasised Egypt's strategic potential to serve as a gateway for Canadian businesses into African and European markets, primarily through localised production in vital sectors such as infrastructure, agriculture, and energy. During the meeting, Aboul-Enein underscored the importance of continuously monitoring the outcomes of the consultations to ensure effective implementation of agreed-upon measures. He also highlighted the progress already achieved and stressed the need to maintain the same pace of work to enhance investment prospects, increase trade exchanges, and strengthen bilateral relations. In 2024, Egypt exported goods worth $197 million to Canada, while imports from Canada totalled $369 million, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilisation and Statistics (CAPMAS). During the 2023/2024 fiscal year, Egyptian investments in Canada reached $85.3 million. Meanwhile, Canadian foreign direct investments in Egypt amounted to $122.5 million.
