Taylor Lautner Publicly Defended Selena Gomez After Her SAG Awards Appearance Sadly Resulted In Disgusting Discourse Around Her Weight
Taylor Lautner has taken to social media to chime in on an ongoing conversation surrounding speculation about Selena Gomez's weight.
In case you didn't know, Taylor and Selena dated briefly back in 2009, when Taylor was filming Twilight: New Moon, and Selena was filming Ramona and Beezus. Speaking to Seventeen back then, Selena called their fling 'fun,' but confirmed that the two split because of media attention, saying, 'I knew he had paparazzi following him and I had paparazzi following me. People were getting a little crazy about us.'
Following her recent appearance at the SAG Awards, Selena — who is now happily engaged to Benny Blanco — has sadly been the subject of a ton of online scrutiny around her weight.
On Feb. 24, Glamour published an opinion piece titled, 'It's Okay to Feel Hurt When Celebrities Lose Weight—but Let's Unpack It,' with the title image being of Selena. The article stated that criticism of celebrities' weight loss was ultimately contributing to the unfair judgment of people without accounting for what may or may not be going on in their lives. The writer, Alex Light, said, 'If we want body neutrality—which I know I do!—we must give women the freedom to make decisions about their bodies without judgment.'
The following day, The View co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Sunny Hostin agreed with the article's statements about celebrities' boundaries and defended Selena against the speculation occurring. 'Why look to a complete stranger for inspiration?' asked Sunny. 'You don't know what's going on in that person's life. Selena Gomez suffers from lupus, so weight is a part of that condition. And so she may have lost this weight for her health condition.'
'And it's none of your business!' Whoopi added enthusiastically, before continuing on to explain that celebrities' choices were nobody's decision but their own.
And yesterday, Selena's ex Taylor posted a statement on Instagram echoing the sentiment. Sharing a side-by-side photoset of Selena, he wrote a lengthy message asking people to be 'a little bit nicer.'

The images Taylor shared showed Selena in 2024 and 2025, alongside contrasting — but equally disgusting — comments made about her weight in either photo. One comment read, 'Really not to be mean, but it's tjme for Ozempic,' while another from a year later said, 'She looked better thicc.'
Under the images, Taylor wrote, 'It's a cruel world full of hate out there. You can never please everyone nor should you have to. In my experience it doesn't make the words sting less, it just refocuses you onto what matters.'
He continued, saying, 'And it sure isn't the shape, color, or appearance of your body. Daily reminder to all of us to not forget how beautiful you are inside and out.'
He then reminded people to 'be a little bit nicer,' and added the 2011 Selena Gomez & The Scene song 'Who Says' to the post, which fans will remember was all about loving yourself for who you are.
Fans online have since called Taylor a 'green flag,' with one person saying that, 'This is the kind of ex that Selena deserves.'

Beyoncé's flying car prop tilts mid-air in scary malfunction during ‘Cowboy Carter' tour
Beyoncé experienced a frightening moment during her Cowboy Carter tour stop in Houston, Texas, over the weekend. While performing '16 Carriages' Saturday night in a car prop suspended above the audience, the vehicle suddenly stopped and tilted mid-air, prompting the singer to momentarily pause her performance. 'Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop,' Beyoncé can be heard saying in a video obtained by ABC News, just before the music was cut. 'Thank you for your patience,' she added. The crowd erupted in cheers to show their support as the car was slowly lowered back to the stage. In the video, Beyoncé is seen gripping one of the support cables while suspended in the air. After safely returning to the stage, she finished her performance of '16 Carriages' and addressed the audience. "I wanna thank y'all for loving me," she said. "If ever I fall, I know y'all will catch me." Later that night, Beyoncé's company, Parkwood Entertainment, released a statement via Instagram story confirming the incident. 'Tonight in Houston, at NRG stadium, a technical mishap caused the flying car, a prop Beyoncé uses to circle the stadium, and see her fans up close, to tilt,' the statement read. 'She was quickly lowered and no one was injured. The show continued without incident.' Beyoncé has since shared photos from the concert, including an image of the mishap, writing in the caption, 'I love you, Houston.' The Cowboy Carter tour, in support of Beyoncé's eighth studio album of the same name, kicked off in April at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. Following a stop in France, the tour arrived in Houston over the weekend and will continue in Maryland and Georgia before wrapping in Nevada at the end of July.

Love Island USA: Where the couples stand after Casa Amor
The dust has settled — a bit — on this season of Love Island now that the main villa and Casa Amor have merged once again. Friday night saw a big shake up as Casa Amor ended and all 24 cast members made it to the villa in Fiji. An elaborate re-coupling saw some couples get back together after the short Casa Amor break, but also saw the emergence of some new ones. Taylor shook things up by choosing Clarke over his partner from the start, Olandria, but she was saved by her fellow cast members to remain in the villa as a single. Elan was also saved by the group, sending home Coco, Vanna, J.D. and Zac. Amaya (Zak), Taylor (Clarke), Pepe (Gracyn), Austin (Jaden), Huda (Chris) and Andreina (Bryan) all found partnerships with someone that joined during the Casa Amor break. Here is how the couples stand as we head into what is sure to be a big night in the villa: A new episode of Love Island airs on Peacock at 9 p.m. ET every night except Wednesday.

LeBron James' wife pushing him to ‘f–king retire' next year after he re-ups with Lakers
Savannah James is urging LeBron to retire. The Lakers superstar exercised his $52.6 million option for 2025-26, bypassing free agency to return to Los Angeles for his 23rd NBA season. The 2003 No.1 overall pick revealed this during a dinner outing in New York with his wife, Savannah, Miami Heat and former Cleveland Cavaliers big man Kevin Love and his wife, Kate, among others. One of the dinners guests posted a snippet on Instagram of the conversation where James can be heard saying, 'Savannah wants me to f–king retire in the next year or so.' His agent, Rich Paul, told ESPN that while LeBron 'appreciates the partnership' with the Lakers, he 'values a realistic chance of winning it all' and will be closely monitoring the team's offseason moves. Variety via Getty Images At 40 years old, turning 41 this coming December, James continues to perform at a star level, especially on offense. James ended year 22 averaging 24.4 points, 8.2 assists, and 7.8 rebounds. Despite his on-court production, the Lakers were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the Minnesota Timberwolves, who later reached the Western Conference finals before losing to the eventual champion Oklahoma City Thunder. Getty Images Paul offered further insight into the possibility of retirement, which will continue to hang over James every season now that he's in his 40s. 'We want to evaluate what's best for LeBron at this stage in his life and career,' Paul told ESPN. 'He wants to make every season he has left count, and the Lakers understand that, are supportive and want what's best for him.' The Lakers, who made the major deal with the Mavericks for Luka Dončić this past season, are still attempting to compete in the West, but it's unclear if they'll be championship-level good for this coming year.
