Nike and Lego made a kids' sneaker together

Lego makes shoes for humans now.
The Danish toymaker announced a cobranded bright Lego yellow kids sneaker today in collaboration with Nike. The Nike Air Max Dn x Lego was designed in a 'Tour Yellow' colorway with Lego-style studs on the upper, Lego's red block logo on the tongue, and hybrid Nike-Lego logo on the back. The shoes will be available for sale in August following a 1,180-piece Lego Nike Dunk set to be released in July that includes a rotatable brick basketball toy.
Together, the shoes and basketball-themed Lego set are the first releases in a joint multiyear partnership between Nike and Lego that the companies announced last year and said would span 'products, content, and experiences.'
The LEGO Group says in a study of parents it found 59% of respondents worried their children don't have sufficient fun activities or playtime. To respond to those concerns, Nike said the partnership would 'bring to life the many ways sport and creative play can help all kids be the best versions of themselves.' Online, reaction to an early look at the Nike x Lego shoe was mixed, but remember, this is a shoe for kids, not grown sneakerheads. It's about taking an inside toy brand and extending it to physical play, and showing the connection between creativity in play as well as in success in other areas of life.
To do that, Nike and Lego tapped A'ja Wilson, the WNBA Las Vegas Aces center and Nike signature athlete, to appear on the brand's digital channels to promote the partnership. The brands are also opening a pop-up Lego Play Arena at Legoland California Resort from June 7 to 11 to mark International Day of Play. A Nike Dunk Low x Lego collection is to come.
'I have loved playing with Lego bricks since I was a kid and know that my creativity and play helped me not only in sports but also at school and in life,' Wilson said in a statement.
Lego has made partnerships a central part of its business model by releasing branded sets for outside intellectual property, like Marvel, Harry Potter, and Star Wars, as well as adult sets based on art history and architecture. By collaborating with Nike, these brands extend their reach into new product categories, capturing likely new customer bases. Nike similarlly benefits from attaching itself to a product aimed at young people who will grow into Nike buyers.
As Nike aims to increase its market share, it's doing so, in part, one demographic group at a time. Earlier this year, it announced a new brand in partnership with Skims to puncture the women's athleisure market. With Lego, kids are next.

Chris Martin mortified after catching Astronomer CEO, HR chief on Coldplay kiss cam: ‘Hope we didn't do something bad'

It won't be so easy for the 'Fix You' singer to fix this. A mortified Chris Martin struggled to carry on his concert Wednesday night after cameras at his Boston show caught Astronomer CEO Andy Byron allegedly cheating on his wife with his HR chief Kristin Cabot. 'I hope we didn't do something bad…' Martin said in a newly surfaced clip from the show that was shared on X. The businessman and Cabot made headlines on Thursday morning after a video of them being caught on the concert's kiss cam went viral. In the clip that's been circulating on social media, the pair were seen swaying with their hands wrapped around each other as Martin moved the 'kiss cam' around Gillette Stadium. 'Look at these two,' the 'Yellow' hitmaker, 48, said. The pair appeared to be horrified by the camera catching them off guard as Cabot immediately turned around and Byron ducked out of view. 'Either they're having an affair or they're just very shy,' Martin added, which elicited a string of equal cheers and gasps from the audience. Soon after the incident set the internet ablaze, Byron's wife, Megan Kerrigan Byron, deleted her social media page. And shortly before taking down her profile, she deleted her surname from her account. As we previously reported, Byron became the CEO for the New York-based business in July 2023, according to his since-deleted LinkedIn account. Cabot later joined the company as its chief human resources officer in November 2024. However, a post announcing her role has since been wiped from her LinkedIn page. Solve the daily Crossword

Hot Toys Just Gave Us Our Best Look Yet at Galactus Ahead of ‘Fantastic Four: First Steps'

Whenever a highly anticipated comic book film is released, toy manufacturers often reveal the looks of the main heroes and villains before they appear on the big screen. And like clockwork, Hot Toys has carried on that tradition by revealing The Fantastic Four: First Steps' Galactus in all his celestial glory. Okay, we can't entirely blame Hot Toys here. AMC theaters merchandised the Marvel big bad by transforming his big noggin into a popcorn bucket. And before that, Lego joined in on the marketing fray with its set of Marvel's first family battling Galactus. But what makes Hot Toys stand out in the crowd of Marvel merchandising is its iteration on Galactus, which doesn't sand over his imposing visage in a more cartoony fashion. It looks like someone scanned actor Ralph Ineson in one of those Hideo Kojima video game scan machines, stumbled into a figurine factory, and started cooking. Take a gander at this big lummox. 'We are proud to present the Galactus Jumbo Sofvi Figure. Crafted from vinyl material, the figure stands an imposing 70cm tall with 6 points of articulation. His head, upper arms, forearms, and waist are rotatable for commanding display options,' Hot Toys wrote in a Facebook post. 'His head sculpt features LED-lit eyes that glow with cosmic energy, while finely painted metallic red and purple finishes bring his armor to vivid life. The Galactus Jumbo Figure is more than a collectible, it's a Sofvi art piece that bridges toy and high-end display craftsmanship.' It continued: 'Contrasting the scale of the massive figure are five miniature figures, including Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, The Thing, and Silver Surfer, designed to be attachable to Galactus' body. A Special Edition only available in selected markets will include a specially designed The Fantastic Four: First Steps metal collectible card with display case.' Ever the salesman, Hot Toys capped off its Facebook post by goading readers into buying the colossal figure with the enticing tagline plaguing every collector's waking hour: that their prospective Fantastic Four displays would be forever incomplete without a Galactus towering over them. Before Hot Toys showcased its Jumbo Sofvi figurine of Galactus, fans had to rely on getting a glimpse of him through freeze-framing moments in Marvel's cascading rollout of Fantastic Four: First Steps trailers and featurettes. Not unlike the infamous picture of Big Foot trudging in the forest, all Galactus screen grabs are blurry at best and an indiscernible outline of the big bad at worst. So, kudos to Hot Toys for giving us an eyeful of Galactus so we can put a face to the Celestial adjacent being's goal of kidnapping Reed and Sue Richards' newborn baby for reasons known only to comic book readers. Fantastic Four: First Steps releases on July 25. Want more io9 news?
