GRAP's Stage 1 withdrawn from Delhi-NCR as AQI improves to 'moderate'
'Today, Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI) of the day clocked 140 as per the daily AQI Bulletin provided by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB),' said Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change in a statement.
While comprehensively reviewing the overall air quality parameters in the region and other aspects, the Sub-Committee said, 'AQI of Delhi has shown consistent improvement due to favourable meteorological conditions and the AQI of Delhi has been recorded as 140 for June 15 (in 'Moderate' category). Further, the forecast by IMD/IITM also predicts AQI to mainly remain in 'Moderate' category in coming days.'
'Therefore, keeping in view this trend of improvement in the AQI of Delhi and also the forecasts by IMD/ IITM predicting the average air quality of Delhi to stay in 'Moderate' category in the coming days (for which forecast is available), the CAQM Sub-Committee on GRAP unanimously decided to revoke Stage-I of the extant schedule of GRAP in the entire NCR, with immediate effect,' the statement said.
It was also stressed that all the agencies of the state governments/GNCTD in the NCR, need to ensure that all statutory directions, advisories and orders issued by the Commission are followed and implemented in right earnest to prevent the air quality from slipping to the 'Poor' category.
The sub-committee said that all the agencies concerned are also required to take note of various actions and the targeted timelines as envisaged in the comprehensive policy issued by the Commission to curb air pollution in the NCR and take appropriate actions accordingly in the field, particularly the dust mitigation measures, the statement said.
'The Sub-Committee, shall be keeping a close watch on the air quality scenario and review the situation from time to time for further appropriate decision depending upon the air quality in Delhi and forecast made available by IMD/ IITM,' it said.

Fishermen of coastal Karnataka warned against venturing into sea till July 17
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Monday that squally weather with wind speed 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph is likely to prevail along and off the coast of Karnataka till July 17 and warned fishermen against going sailing till July 17. 'Fishermen are advised not to venture into the Arabian sea till July 17,' the IMD bulletin said. It issued yellow alert to the coastal districts on July 15. Dakshina Kannada district received 2,649.2 mm of rainfall against the normal of 1,726 mm between January 1 and July 14, the DDMA said.

20 per cent less rain this monsoon till now in Telangana
HYDERABAD: In contrast to the earlier prediction of the IMD that the state would experience excess rainfall, the rainfall has been on the lower side in the state since the beginning of the Southwest monsoon season this year. Although the southwest monsoon had entered the state in the last week of May, almost two weeks ahead of the expected date, the rainfall in the state has been less than expected and predicted. As per the Telangana Development Planning Society report, the state has recorded a cumulative rainfall of 175 mm against the normal rainfall of 219.3 mm, with a deviation of -20% between June 1 and July 13. It is to be noted that the rainfall deviation last year in the month of June was 34% and July was 10%, against the deviation of 20% in both June and July this year, resulting in deficient rainfall across the state. As many as 20 districts recorded deficient rainfall, with 322 mandals recording deficient rain, 232 mandals with normal rainfall, 29 mandals with excess rain and only five mandals recorded large excess rainfall since June 1. Adilabad district recorded the highest cumulative rainfall of 382.7 mm with 24 rainy days, whereas Kumaram Bheem had 25 rainy days, the highest in the state. Medchal-Malkajgiri was the most rainfall deficient district in the state with an actual rainfall of merely 74 mm against normal rainfall of 173.4 mm with a -57% deviation. Hyderabad stood as the second most rain deficient district with 83.6 mm of rainfall against the normal of 174 mm, with a 52% deviation. Both Medchal-Malkajgiri and Hyderabad have had seven rainy days in the season, the lowest in the state in this monsoon season. The long range forecast by the IMD has predicted that the state will experience normal and above normal rainfall in July. However, more rains are likely to be experienced in the last week of July.

Bengaluru to see consistent rainfall this week
BENGALURU: Residents of Bengaluru can expect a week of consistent rainfall, gusty winds, and muggy conditions as weather forecasts from both the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) indicate a stable yet damp monsoon pattern across South Interior Karnataka. According to the IMD, Bengaluru and surrounding districts will see light to moderate rainfall every day till Friday, accompanied by gusty surface winds reaching speeds of 30-50 km/h. Daytime temperatures are expected to remain steady, hovering around 29-30 degrees Celsius, while nights will stay relatively cool at 20-21 degrees Celsius. 'Though the rainfall may not be intense, its persistence combined with wind and cloud cover will keep the region under a blanket of moisture throughout the week,' the weather agency predicted. In its weather bulletin, KSNDMC confirmed that moderate to widespread rainfall is expected across Coastal and Malnad districts, with 'isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall' likely from July 16 onward. For interior regions, including Bengaluru, the forecast pointed to light to moderate rainfall, with no significant disruptions anticipated at present. While yellow alerts have been issued for parts of Coastal and South Interior Karnataka, there are no formal weather warnings for Bengaluru as of now, it said. Till Wednesday, Bengaluru's weather is expected to follow a consistent pattern -- cloudy skies, moderate showers and gusty winds. While the IMD has forecast rain for Thursday and Friday, it has not issued any official alerts or warnings for these days. However, the city may continue to experience scattered showers during this period as well. While Bengaluru is not under any weather alert, the weather agencies have advised residents to be cautious. The coastal belt of Karnataka is likely to see more intense rainfall activity starting Monday.
