New Boston Celtics big man Amari Williams on his future in the NBA

USA Today19 hours ago
As things currently stand, the Boston Celtics find their frontcourt rotation a thin one, with multiple key big men having left the team via trade and free agency. But the Celtics did add a center to the team with the No. 46 pick of the 2025 NBA draft, former University of Kentucky big man Amari Williams. The Wildcat alum recently made his way to the City of Boston to sit down with the press and share his initial reaction to the team he was drafted to.
Williams spoke on what role he thinks he is going to have in Boston in light of said center departures, as well as what got him to the Celtics as a player in the first place.
The folks behind the "CLNS Media Boston Sports Network" YouTube channel put together a clip of the two way center's first interview as a Boston player for us to watch later. Check it out yourself.

Warriors' Kevin Durant trade involvement official in 7-team blockbuster that makes NBA history

The Golden State Warriors and Kevin Durant have crossed paths again. This time, it's in the NBA's largest-ever trade, a seven-team deal. It's only a brief passing of destinies for the Warriors and KD. The original framework had Durant going from the Rockets to the Suns. Then the Warriors, Lakers, Timberwolves, Hawks and Nets all piled on to combine some different asset movement into one giant conglomeration. Advertisement Marc Spears reported the trade details late Thursday night. The Warriors receive draft rights to two players in the dealing: Alex Toohey (from Phoenix) and Jahmai Mashack (from Houston). They send out the draft rights to Koby Brea to the Suns. MORE: Lakers make 'insane' decision that could jeopardize future with LeBron, Luka It's a small role in a massive deal. It took place because the league's moratorium didn't allow any of these separate transactions to actually be completed yet. So all these teams could get together and figure out a way to balance out everything best. It's a small piece of history for the Warriors, and they get to share it with Durant. After Going Undrafted, Gonzaga Star Ryan Nembhard Joins Cooper Flagg in Dallas

After Going Undrafted, Gonzaga Star Ryan Nembhard Joins Cooper Flagg in Dallas originally appeared on Athlon Sports. 59 players were selected in the 2025 NBA draft and yet - for the first time since 2020 - none of them came from Mark Few's Gonzaga basketball program. Advertisement Star guard Ryan Nembhard was the most likely to get selected after he led the NCAA with 9.8 assists per game last year while shooting over 40% from three and impressing during the NBA draft combine. Despite some positive momentum heading into the draft, Nembhard did not hear his name called on Thursday, although he was quickly signed to a two-way contract by the Dallas Mavericks. The Mavs are bringing the 6'0 guard into the mix as a depth option while starter Kyrie Irving recovers from an ACL injury, which is expected to keep him out until sometime in 2026. Nembhard joins No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg in Dallas, as well as veterans Anthony Davis and Klay Thompson. It's a great landing spot not just because of the talent on the roster, but the opportunity to compete for playing time right away in a thin backcourt while Irving is recovering. Advertisement Dallas has Brandon Williams, Spencer Dinwiddie, Dante Exum, and Jaden Hardy listed on the depth chart at point guard, a group that Nembhard has a good chance to break into thanks to his elite passing out of the pick and roll, strong outside shooting, and NBA pedigree. His brother, Andrew, has thrived in his brief NBA career after the Indiana Pacers took him No. 31 overall in the 2022 NBA draft. For Gonzaga, a streak of four consecutive drafts with at least one Zag getting selected ended after Tennessee's Jahmai Mashack went No. 59 to Memphis, meaning Nembhard, Khalif Battle, Ben Gregg, and Nolan Hickman were all undrafted. It also meant former Zag Hunter Sallis - who some might have counted after he spent the first two seasons of his career in Spokane before transferring to Wake Forest - went undrafted as well, although like Nembhard he quickly signed a two-way deal with the Philadelphia 76ers.
