#SHOWBIZ: HK star Kenneth Ma: Part of my salary goes to wife and parents
His dedication to his parents and wife, actress Roxanne Tong, is a testament to this reputation.
In a recent interview with HK01, Ma disclosed that he allocates portions of his salary to both his wife and his parents.
Notably, Ma was listed as TVB's second-highest-paid actor in 2021, with an impressive annual income of HK$8 million (RM4.3 million).
"Finding work in Hong Kong is very stressful. My dad has been retired for over 20 years," he explained, expressing gratitude for the consistent work opportunities he receives in both Hong Kong and mainland China.
Describing himself as quite a cautious individual, the 51-year-old actor emphasised his preference for earning in advance and saving for the future.
"You never know what you might need money for. The economy isn't doing well these days, so it's important to save for a rainy day," he advised.
"I believe money is meant to be spent. When the time comes to use it, you should spend it wisely."
Ma will be holding a meet-and-greet event in Malaysia on June 28, alongside his wife and fellow TVB star, Tong.

The 46-year-old started an account on the short video platform under the name 'Classmate Chou' on July 9 at 11am. According to the Chinese media, the number of followers exceeded one million in one hour, even though the Taiwanese singer has not posted any videos. That number jumped to more than 11 million by the afternoon of July 10. There were rumours online on July 9 that Douyin had spent a nine-figure sum to get Chou to join, but they were refuted by the platform, reported Chinese news site Guancha. Chou's presence on Douyin provided a boost to Star Plus Legend, a company co-founded by his mother Yeh Hui-mei and closely linked with the singer. According to Hong Kong Economic Journal, the company's shares surged more than 1.6 times on July 9 to a high of HK$17 at one point before closing at HK$12.44. Chou's Douyin account is his second Chinese-language social media account. In 2020, he set up an account on Chinese short video platform Kuaishou, considered a rival to Douyin. The Kuaishou account has about 48 million followers, but Chou has not updated it in more than three months. Photo: Sin Chew Daily When Hong Kong actor Albert Law Ho-kai made his last public appearance on a talk show in 2021, he revealed that cervical spine issues had left him unable to sit upright. In a more recent interview with HK01, Law, 75, shared that he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease more than 10 years ago, and his health has steadily declined over the years. 'My condition is deteriorating. I have Parkinson's disease, and it has worsened over the past year or two. My mobility is far from ideal,' he said. Law added that he's currently unable to walk on his own and requires a wheelchair to get around. His daily needs are attended to by his wife and caretakers. Despite being wheelchair-bound, the former TVB actor maintains a sense of humour, joking that he enjoys 'speeding' near his home. Still, he admitted that he does feel a little discouraged at times. 'These days, I don't even bother seeing a doctor when I'm sick … Just sitting here feels meaningless,' he shared. Even so, Law continues to find pockets of joy in his hobbies such as singing and recording music, adding; 'I recently started learning to play the guitar too.' Since joining TVB in 1975, Law has starred in series such as Kung Fu (1975), You Only Live Twice (1982), You're Hired (2009) and Come Home Love (2012-2015), among others. In 2017, Law left the Hong Kong broadcaster and gradually retreated from the spotlight, making only occasional appearances in dramas.
