ICE holding Tunisian man without proper medical help in downtown L.A., family says
A Tunisian man is enduring 'inhumane conditions' inside the Federal Building in downtown Los Angeles after U.S. immigration authorities arrested him this month, his family says. Rami Othmane was held July 13 while driving to the grocery store. His wife, Dr. Wafaa Alrashid, said agents blocked Othmane's car and did not identify themselves or present a warrant before detaining him. Alrashid, chief of medical staff at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena, was on FaceTime with her husband during the incident. The couple married on March 5, 2024, and filed an I-130 petition last month to qualify their relationship status to obtain Orthmane's green card. Alrashid said Othmane, whose Instagram account says he is a singer and music producer, was in the country legally, adding that he suffers from chronic pain and an untreated tumor. Since his arrest, Othmane has been kept in the Federal Building — sleeping on a cold floor with no bedding, hygiene supplies or privacy, his wife said. 'This is not just an immigration issue — this is a human rights crisis,' Alrashid said in a statement. 'My husband has been subjected to 12 days of inhumane treatment in a federal building. He is not a criminal. He is a kind, peaceful man with an open immigration petition.' Alrashid said in a post to Instagram that the conditions are not livable, adding detainees are fed at random times and are expected to share an open toilet. On Friday, the National Day Laborer Organizing Network, an advocacy group based in Pasadena, organized a protest vigil outside the federal detention facility in downtown L.A., known as B-18, to demand Othmane's release. 'Like all immigrants — like all human beings — he deserves to be treated with decency and respect and to receive due process of the law. It appears that these basic rights are being cruelly denied him,' the organization said in a statement Friday. 'We demand an end to the lawless campaign of raids and arrests that has led to gross injustices like the imprisonment of our friend Rami, and so many others.'

Dreadlocked joyrider, 18, who took MTA train on one-stop spin is a repeat transit offender: NYPD
The dreadlocked joyrider who allegedly took a Queens MTA train on a one-stop spin last week is an 18-year-old repeat transit offender who racked up a dozen arrests this year – most of them on the rails, police said. Justine Randall-Pizarro allegedly commandeered the locked N train just after 4 a.m. June 17 at the Broadway station in Astoria before driving it to the 36th Avenue stop, police said. Pizarro – with her hair styled in reddish-orange dreads, wearing a black hat and black Crocs – entered the train parked in the station's lay-up track through the conductor's cab before the illicit jaunt, according to prosecutors and law enforcement sources. Advertisement Justine Randall-Pizarro, who allegedly took a Queens MTA train on a one-stop spin last week, is an 18-yea-old repeat transit offender who racked up a dozen arrests just this year, according to NYPD. Wikipedia Investigators believe Pizarro – who fled the scene after the pre-dawn stunt – used a key to get the train running, the sources said. When detectives questioned Pizarro after her Tuesday arrest, she admitted to hijacking the train while videochatting with a pal and said she had the keys to access it, according to prosecutors. 'I mean, I'm near Astoria. Bet,' she told an investigator, according to a complaint filed in Queens Criminal Court. 'I went to Broadway, and behold – there was a lay-up train there. Still on FaceTime with my homeboy, so I drove it while I was on FaceTime with him.' Advertisement 'And, I don't know, we was just fooling around, turning up on FaceTime like while I was driving it,' the teen mischief-maker continued. 'And I just drove it to 36th Avenue, got off.' 'I mean I don't do the stealing myself, the people steal the keys for me,' she explained. 'Usually – and I guess they steal them for themselves. But usually, yeah, they do steal them from workers.' NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said that Pizarro had been arrested 12 times in 2025 – most 'related to transit incidents, whether it be burglary, reckless endangerment, train surfing or larceny from transit property.' Advertisement 'This person is basically a transit recidivist who keeps breaking into trains,' the chief added. 'When she breaks into them, she moves them, she steals items – train keys, things of that nature.' 'When [Pizarro] breaks into them, she moves them, she steals items – train keys, things of that nature,' NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said. Wikipedia Back on June 23 in the Bronx, Pizarro allegedly entered a female conductor's cabin when a No. 5 train was stopped at the last station, Gun Hill Road, and allegedly stole her personal bag, prosecutors said. Prosecutors had requested that Pizarro be held on $20,000 bail or $60,000 bond, but a judge released her on her own recognizance. Advertisement On June 1, she allegedly got behind the controls of another train and took it for an early-morning spin at Van Siclen Avenue in Brooklyn, prosecutors said. Prosecutors asked for $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond, but Judge Masatera Marubashi cut her loose on supervision. And on May 26 on board an R train at 86th Street and 4th Avenue in Bay Ridge, Pizarro allegedly unleashed pepper spray in an MTA worker's face, according to the criminal complaint. The DA's office asked for her to be held on $20,000 cash or $40,000 bond, but she was also granted supervised release in that case. In Sunset Park, Brooklyn on April 21, she allegedly stole a backpack holding multiple items including MTA keys, an MTA radio and an MTA flashlight from the operator's cabin of an R train at 59th Street and 4th Avenue. On May 15, she allegedly stole a backpack holding keys and an MTA escape mask from a motorman's cabin inside a D train at 86th Street and Bay Parkway, prosecutors said. Both cases are not eligible for bail by state law, the Brooklyn DA's Office said. In the April case, prosecutors asked for supervised release, but Judge Philip Tisne released her on her own recognizance. Advertisement In the second case, prosecutors were able to ask for bail because of her previous open case – so they requested $2,000 cash or $4,000 bond. But Judge Jevet Johnson granted Pizarro supervised release. All four of the Brooklyn cases will be consolidated into one going forward, a DA's office spokeswoman said.

Top Georgia commit Chace Calicut arrested after alleged road rage incident
Georgia football commit Chace Calicut was arrested after his alleged involvement in a violent driving incident earlier this month — just days after he committed to play football for the Bulldogs. Calicut and a fellow 17-year-old have been charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon related to the July 6 incident, according to records viewed by The Post. Fox 26 in Houston reported the arrest. Chace Calicut (22) against Tucson Turf during the OT7 Championships football tournament on Sunday, June 9, 2024 in Tampa, Fla. AP The four-star cornerback recruit officially committed to Georgia on June 27 and is the No. 114 player overall in the 2026 recruiting class, according to 247Sports. The alleged incident occurred in Houston, where Calicut hails from and plays for North Shore High School. Fox 26 reported, citing court documents, that Calicut allegedly drove in front of an unidentified male teen driver, who had an unnamed female passenger in the vehicle, and hit his brakes to force the male to slam on his own brakes to avoid crashing into Calicut's car. The male teen then attempted to drive around Calicut's car to get away, but the football player allegedly pulled up next to him and drove erratically in front of and next to the unnamed teen driver. Chace Calicut was arrested for an alleged violent driving incident. Chace Calicut/Instagram The teen said Calicut's passenger — identified as 17-year-old Isaiah Brice Phillip — then held a handgun out and was pointing it toward the other vehicle. It was also alleged that the teen had heard several gunshots after he was able to elude Calicut's car and that another friend had seen Phillip shooting out of the car window. Calicut and the teen in the other car know each other from school, with the latter alleging that the football star had been threatening him at school and over FaceTime over several months, according to Fox 26. It's the second Georgia football commit to find himself on the wrong end of the law this month. A defensive line commit — Seven Cloud — was charged with domestic battery in Kansas related to an incident that occurred in April. The Georgia football program has had a slew of driving-related arrests the past few years, with head coach Kirby Smart addressing the topic before the start of the 2024 season. 'The incidents that we've had off the field are not something that we condone,' Smart said last July. 'It's very unfortunate, disappointing I guess is the best word. I always talk about process and outcomes. I talked about that with wins and losses that we try not to base things on the outcomes with wins and losses. 'In this situation, the outcomes are very disappointing.'
