ECB and BCCI join hands to scuttle ambitious Saudi T20: Report

The ambitious Saudi T20 league, which is believed to be a USD 400 million project, won't be backed by the BCCI or the England and Wales Cricket Board as they try to protect their respective flagship tourneys from getting diluted, British newspaper The Guardian has reported.
"During discussions at the World Test Championship final at Lord's this month, the ECB and BCCI agreed to unite in opposing the new league. The boards agreed they would not issue "no objection certificates" to their players to sign up for the new competition, as well as lobbying the International Cricket Council (ICC) to withhold their endorsement," the newspaper wrote.
Apparently Cricket Australia (CA) was keen on partnering with Saudi investors in the league.
"Under plans that emerged in Australia this year, Saudi's SRJ Sports Investments has pledged to inject USD 400m to set up the new league, which would have eight teams playing four tournaments in different locations each year in a set-up that has been compared to tennis's Grand Slams," Guardian said. For CA, the main aim is to earn profit from the cash inflow by a private investor as the Big Bash League (BBL) franchises are owned by the governing body and the states.
However, IPL is a USD 12 billion product and the ECB is all set to get richer by GBP 520m (USD 700 million) from the sale of 49% of the eight 'Hundred franchises'. "Cricket South Africa raised more than GBP 100m (USD 136 million) by selling franchises in its SA20 competition to Indian Premier League owners three years ago."
The paper also reported that the ICC, currently run by former BCCI secretary Jay Shah, is unlikely to go against the wishes of the Indian board.

Warren Buffett announces USD 6 billion in donations to five foundations
New York, Jun 28 (AP) Famed investor Warren Buffett is donating USD 6 billion worth of his company's stock to five foundations, bringing the total he has given to them since 2006 to roughly $60 billion, based on their value when received. Buffett said the shares of Berkshire Hathaway will be delivered on Monday. Berkshire Hathaway owns Geico, Dairy Queen and a range of other businesses, and Buffett is donating nearly 12.4 million of the Class B shares of its stock. Those shares have a lower and easier-to-digest price tag than the company's original Class A shares, and each of the B shares was worth USD 485.68 at their most recent close on Friday. The largest tranche is going to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Trust, which will receive 9.4 million shares. The Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation will receive 943,384 shares, and the Sherwood Foundation, Howard G Buffett Foundation and NoVo Foundation will each receive 660,366 shares. Buffett made waves a year ago when he said he plans to cut off donations to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation after his death and let his three children decide how to distribute the rest of his fortune. Berkshire Hathaway's Class B stock has climbed 19.1 per cent over the last 12 months, topping the broad US stock market's return of 14.1 per cent, including dividends. Sri Lanka crush Bangladesh in second Test to seal series
Sri Lanka completed a thumping innings and 78-run victory over Bangladesh before lunch on day four of the second Test in Colombo on Saturday, wrapping up the two-match series 1-0. Resuming the day on a precarious 115-6, the visitors still trailed by 97 runs and needed a minor miracle to avoid an innings defeat. Any hopes of a rearguard were dashed almost immediately.
