Chile's Authorities Start Evacuation for Coasts after Tsunami Threats

On Friday, a 7.5-magnitude earthquake struck Chile and Argentina. It triggered a tsunami on the impacted countries' coast.
The quake took place around 200km south of Puerto Williams, near Chile's southern tip.
According to the United States Geological Survey, it took place at a depth of 10km, with four more smaller aftershocks being recorded in the region.
The US' National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said that Chile risks being struck by tsunami waves that could be up to 9 feet tall, while Antarctica faces potential waves of up to 3 feet.
Chile's Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service (SHOA) estimated that waves will arrive in Antarctica and Chile in a few hours.
Chilean disaster authorities started evacuating the coastal area of the Magallanes Region.

24 Killed as Floods Sweep Across Pakistan
Israa Farhan At least 24 people, half of them children, have died in flash floods and landslides triggered by heavy monsoon rains in northwestern and eastern Pakistan, according to emergency management officials. The extreme weather, which began Wednesday, marks the onset of the country's annual monsoon season. A report issued late Friday by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa confirmed that 11 people were killed in the past 24 hours alone. Among the victims were four children and three women, while six others were injured. Most of the casualties occurred in the Swat Valley, where flash floods swept away families living along riverbanks, according to local media. The floods have also caused significant property damage. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 56 homes were damaged, including six that were completely destroyed, the PDMA report added. In Punjab, Pakistan's most populous province with a population of around 130 million, the Disaster Management Authority reported 13 fatalities since Wednesday. Among them were eight children, who died when roofs or walls collapsed under the weight of the rain. The adult victims were killed in sudden floods that struck rivers in the region, local officials confirmed. Rana Atef The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) predicts extremely hot and humid weather will prevail in most of the country during Saturday's daylight hours. Moderately hot and humid weather is also expected to hit the North Coast. The country will also witness mist on agricultural and highway roads in the North Coast, Lower Egypt, Canal Cities, and Central Sinai. Meteorologists also predict that Egypt will experience a slight temperature rise. Wind will occur occasionally across the country. Furthermore, the Mediterranean Sea will experience moderate waves, ranging between 1.5 and 2 metres in height, with northwest surface winds. The Red Sea will experience low to moderate waves, ranging between 1 and 1.5 metres in height, with northwest surface winds. Moderate weather is also expected to prevail in Egypt at night and in the early hours. 7 Killed, 39 Injured in Heavy Rains in Pakistan
Israa Farhan At least seven people have died and 39 others were injured following a series of rain-related incidents across Pakistan's eastern Punjab province, authorities announced on Thursday. According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority, the casualties occurred across 13 different locations, with Okara being among the areas hardest hit. Fatalities were linked to collapsing buildings, flash floods, drowning incidents, and lightning strikes. Thirteen homes were reported damaged as a result of the intense rainfall. The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued warnings of further downpours, increasing the risk of flash floods and landslides in multiple regions, including Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and the capital city of Islamabad. The heavy rains are expected to persist into early July. Monsoon-related disasters remain a recurring threat in Pakistan, often exposing vulnerabilities in infrastructure and disaster preparedness, particularly in rural and flood-prone zones.
