'I guess we probably all know at this point that Shannon Sharpe is not likely to ever work at ESPN again, right?' Le Batard remarked.
The speculation comes months after Sharpe was accused of sexual assault in a $50 million civil lawsuit filed in Nevada. The complaint includes claims of assault, sexual battery, and coercion, stemming from alleged incidents in late 2024 and early 2025.

Davis said: 'Mr. Sharpe categorically denies all allegations of coercion or misconduct — especially the gross lie of 'rape' — and will not submit to what he sees as an egregious attempt at blackmail.'
Despite his public denial, Sharpe stepped away from ESPN in April, stating: 'At this juncture I am electing to step aside temporarily from my ESPN duties. I will be devoting this time to my family, and responding and dealing with these false and disruptive allegations set against me.'

While Sharpe had initially signaled intentions to return in time for the NFL preseason, that timeline now seems increasingly unlikely. Even ESPN has distanced itself, telling the New York Post, 'This is a serious situation, and we agree with Shannon's decision to step away.'
Stephen A. Smith, ESPN's marquee figure, offered a measured show of support, saying in May, 'He is emphatic that he is innocent… But the court of public opinion is what the Disneys of the world and others concern themselves with.'

Dubai, Pak links into illegal arms mfg racket suspected
Lucknow: The ongoing investigation into the illegal arms manufacturing racket busted in Malihabad has taken a turn, with Lucknow Police uncovering a possible Dubai connection and probing suspected ties to Pakistan. Hakeem Salauddin, 68, who was arrested earlier this week after a late-night raid led police to an illegal arms unit operating out of a residential area in Malihabad. During the raid, police recovered a cache of illicit firearms, live ammunition, and even prohibited wildlife material from Salauddin's home. The investigators also recovered a laptop containing records of frequent communication with a Dubai-based phone number. According to police sources, Salauddin was in almost daily contact with this number—often calling once or twice a day. While local-level arms transactions were handled domestically, police suspect that larger consignments were coordinated through this international channel. DCP North Gopal Krishna Choudhary confirmed the seizure of a significant cache from Salauddin's residence, including three .32 bore pistols, a .315 bore country-made pistol, two .22 bore country-made pistols, one .22 bore rifle, and seven airguns. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like local network access control Esseps Learn More Undo Also recovered were 18 live cartridges of .315 bore, 68 of .22 bore, and 30 of 12 bore, along with 40 empty cartridges (.22 bore), tools, semi-manufactured weapons, Rs 2,000 in cash, and the skin of a protected deer species. The cyber cell is currently examining Salauddin's laptop to retrieve emails, chat records, and social media activity that may reveal the identities of possible associates or foreign handlers. Surveillance teams are also analysing his call detail records (CDRs) and bank transactions to trace the financial trail behind the illegal arms trade. Salauddin's nephew, Gaush Khan, has been detained for interrogation. He is believed to possess critical information about Salauddin's contacts in Pakistan and other countries. Investigators say over a dozen of Salauddin's relatives have lived in Pakistan since the 1950s, and the family made frequent trips across the border, reportedly two to three times a year. The probe has further revealed that Salauddin was employing skilled gunsmiths from Madhya Pradesh and Bihar under the guise of tenants. While he posed publicly as a traditional healer and honey seller, his house served as a covert manufacturing hub for illegal arms. Police are now preparing to seek Salauddin's custody remand for further probe, particularly into his suspected links with networks operating out of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Maha price hike: Liquor smuggling from MP on a high
Nagpur: The recent hike in liquor prices in Maharashtra has triggered a considerable rise in liquor smuggling from neighbouring Madhya Pradesh, where alcohol is significantly cheaper. Sources said Maharashtra-based smugglers have become active in the backdrop of the price hike. The Nagpur crime branch has intensified its crackdown on interstate liquor smuggling, intercepting a consignment smuggled in from other states. In a significant operation on June 28, the crime branch's Unit No. 2, under senior inspector Mahesh Sagade, Assistant PI Gajanan Chambhare, Mahendra Sadmake, and others under DCP Crime Rahul Maknikar, intercepted branded liquor based on a tip-off about a smuggling operation. The consignment was supposed to be delivered at Jaripatka and some locations in north Nagpur. The action took place near LIC Chowk, under the jurisdiction of Sadar police station. At approximately 9.30pm, the crime branch apprehended Sahil Turkar after his car was intercepted. Another suspect, identified only as Pandit from Gopalganj, Shivni, Madhya Pradesh, remains at large. The total value of the seized items is estimated at Rs6,91,694. Turkar failed to produce any valid permit for the liquor, leading to his arrest and the seizure of the contraband, vehicle, and phones in the presence of witnesses. The seized items and the accused were handed over to Sadar police station for further investigation under sections 65(a), 65(e), and 83 of the Maharashtra Prohibition Act. The police are now pursuing the absconding suspect, Pandit, and intensifying efforts to dismantle the smuggling network. According to police sources, the high demand for affordable liquor in Nagpur has emboldened notorious smugglers like Chelani and others, who are actively exploiting the price disparity to fuel the illegal trade.
