TTD official warns against circulating ‘misleading' video clips on social media

The Hindu01-06-2025
Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Additional Executive Officer Ch. Venkaiah Chowdary on Saturday cautioned against individuals attempting to provoke devotees or record misleading videos within the darshan queue lines. He warned of strict legal action against such unauthorised persons who attempt to disrupt the sanctity of the darshan process.
The warning comes against the backdrop of an incident that took place late on Friday night when a few devotees who grew restive in the darshan lines allegedly resorted to sloganeering against the TTD. A video clip about the incident went viral on social media platforms, much to the embarrassment of the officials.
Taking strong exception to the circulation of the video clip, Mr. Chowdary warned the social media users to refrain from the actions and speeches that would hurt the sentiments of the devotees.
Addressing the media after inspecting the darshan lines and supervising the distribution of food and beverages to the pilgrims waiting in the darshan lines that extended to several kilometres outside the Vaikuntam Complex, he said that a devotee who reportedly did not receive free food was responsible for the 'ruckus'.
He said that the devotee was not only unwell but also unaware of the crowd control measures in place by the TTD. 'Later, the devotee regretted his action and apologised for his unwanted behavior,' Mr. Chowdary said.
Underlining the commitment of the TTD workforce, which is working tirelessly round-the-clock to ensure a hassle-free darshan to the pilgrims, he said that the pilgrims will always remain a priority for the TTD.
He reiterated that it was to their advantage that the management had slashed the time provided for VIPs and the much privileged Srivani ticket holders.

TIRUPATI: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has suspended Assistant Executive Officer A Rajasekhar Babu following allegations of misconduct and violation of organisational norms. Officials said his actions contravened the TTD code of conduct, which requires employees to uphold the values of the Hindu religious institution they represent. TTD authorities treated the matter seriously, stating the AEO acted irresponsibly and failed to observe the standards expected of TTD staff. Based on a report submitted by the Vigilance Department and supporting evidence, officials reviewed the case and suspended him with immediate effect under departmental disciplinary rules. TTD suspends official for professing alien faith

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has suspended its Assistant Executive Officer A. Rajasekhar Babu, on charges of professing an alien faith, in violation of the declaration provided at the time of appointment to adhere to the Hinduism. It recently came to the notice of the TTD management that Mr. Babu regularly attended the church and prayed every Sunday in his hometown of Puttur in Tirupati district. 'It is nothing but the violation of the TTD norms, as he (Rajasekhar Babu) has not followed the code of conduct as an employee. He has acted irresponsibly as an employee representing a Hindu religious organisation,' a TTD release said. The employees, while joining the TTD service, are required to take an oath and sign a declaration that they will follow the Hindu Dharma and practise Hindu traditions only, in compliance with Rule 9 (vi) of the Service Rules issued in Revenue (Endowments-1), dated 24 October, 1989. The TTD's Vigilance department, which probed the issue, gathered evidence against Mr. Rajasekhar Babu and submitted a report, based on which the departmental action was initiated as per the rules. The TTD management, at its trust board meeting on November 18, 2024, resolved to surrender the non-Hindus working in the temple administration in various capacities to the government. According to a report made available in 2018, there are 44 employees of other religious faiths working with the TTD.

TTD Suspends Official For Attending Church Prayers, Cites Violation Of Hindu Code Of Conduct

Last Updated: In a statement on Tuesday, the TTD said Rajasekhar Babu was found participating in church prayers every Sunday, an act deemed to be in violation of the organisation's norms. The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD), which oversees the administration of the revered Sri Venkateshwara Swamy temple in Andhra Pradesh, has suspended Assistant Executive Officer A. Rajasekhar Babu for allegedly attending Christian prayer services in his hometown of Puttur, located in Tirupati district. In an official statement on Tuesday, the TTD said Rajasekhar Babu was found participating in church prayers every Sunday, an act deemed to be in violation of the organisation's norms. 'It is nothing but a violation of TTD norms as he has not followed the code of conduct of the TTD as an employee of the organisation, and has acted irresponsibly as an employee representing a Hindu religious organisation," the temple trust stated. Based on a detailed report submitted by its Vigilance Department and other evidence, the TTD said it had taken immediate disciplinary action under its rules and placed the official under suspension. This is not the first instance of action against employees for practising non-Hindu religious customs. In February, the TTD initiated disciplinary proceedings against 18 staff members, including six teachers, who were found participating in non-Hindu rituals. Among them were senior personnel such as a deputy executive officer, an assistant executive officer, and two electricians. Following the instructions of TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu, all 18 employees were barred from involvement in temple-related religious duties and reassigned from postings at Tirumala or any other religious function. The disciplinary actions were based on violations of Rule 9 (vi) under Government Order No. 1060 issued by the Revenue Department (Endowments) on October 24, 1989, which mandates strict adherence to Hindu traditions by TTD staff.
