Liverpool Women in talks to appoint Gareth Taylor as head coach
Discussions between former Manchester City boss Taylor and Liverpool are ongoing, but nothing has yet been signed.
Taylor, 52, would be the permanent replacement for Matt Beard, who was sacked in February and replaced on an interim basis by Amber Whiteley, who will remain at Liverpool as assistant coach.

Liverpool finished seventh in the Women's Super League (WSL) in 2024-25, the same position as when Beard left, after a fourth-place finish the previous campaign.
Despite adding Olivia Smith to the squad from Sporting CP for a club-record fee (£210,000), Liverpool were not able to replicate their previous WSL success. The Merseyside club matched their previous term's number of league defeats within the first 10 games but did manage to win three of their last eight matches after Whiteley took over.
Liverpool were promoted back to the WSL under Beard in 2022 and finished seventh in their first season back. Beard described their rise to fourth in the following campaign as the side having 'overperformed' in relation to their budget when compared with the WSL's traditional top four — Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal.
Taylor spent four and a half years with City before parting ways with the club in March, with the side one point off the Champions League places and 12 points off league leaders Chelsea. The Englishman won the FA Cup in 2020 and the League Cup two years later with the Manchester club but could not lead them to a WSL title, finishing second in 2021 and 2024. Under Taylor, City only finished outside the top three — and qualification for the Champions League — once, in 2022-23.
Beard, meanwhile, has since been appointed as head coach at third-tier side Burnley.

Report – Liverpool Looking To Hijack Inter Milan Pursuit Of Parma Defender
Liverpool could reportedly try to overtake Inter Milan in the race to sign highly-rated Parma center-back Giovanni Leoni. According to British newspaper The Times via FCInterNews, the Reds could hijack Inter's long-term pursuit of the 18-year-old. It's no secret that the Nerazzurri view Giovanni Leoni as a concrete target despite the current lack of funds. However, Cristian Chivu has requested the youngster's signing, having previously worked with him at Ennio Tardini. (Photo by) With Inter focusing on adding Ademola Lookman to Chivu's attacking options, their pursuit of Leoni has taken a back seat. Meanwhile, Liverpool have seemingly spotted a window of opportunity and are keen to take advantage. Despite boasting a star-studded backline, the reigning Premier League holders are in the market for a new defender. Indeed, Virgil van Dijk is entering the autumn of his playing career. Therefore, Ibrahima Konate remains the only dependable center-back option for the future. That rings particularly true when factoring in Jarell Quansah's transfer to Bayer Leverkusen this summer.

Report – Parma Reject Players From Inter Milan In Exchange For Liverpool Target: Cash Only
Parma have firmly rejected any player swap offers from Inter Milan, insisting on a cash-only deal for Giovanni Leoni. According to FCInterNews, the Crusaders have made it abundantly clear that they only want cash for their sought-after teenager. Giovanni Leoni has established himself as one of the hottest prospects in European football. Despite breaking onto the grand stage only last season, the 18-year-old already has plenty of admirers. Indeed, in addition to Inter, AC Milan, Juventus, and Liverpool have shown interest in his services. Kristjan Asllani and Sebastiano Esposito are the players in question. Yet, their request has fallen on the Crusaders' deaf ears. Instead, they're only interested in taking hard cash for their most prized asset. That's the last thing the Nerazzurri would want to hear, especially now that Liverpool have intensified their interest. Indeed, aware of Inter's financial constraints, the Reds are keen to accelerate talks with Parma.

'Here we go': Man United miss out on sensational talent to European giants
Manchester United have missed out on one of their midfield targets, as they continue to prioritise attacking reinforcements. United are determined to hand Ruben Amorim a new striker to complete his revamped attack. Accordingly, the club's hierarchy have tabled a bid worth €85 million for RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko. However, they face competition from Newcastle United, who have submitted a higher offer for the Slovenian. The two clubs are now waiting for Sesko to make a final decision on his future. The arrival of the Leipzig star should greatly improve United's frontline. However, United also intend to address their midfield. After United secured the services of Bryan Mbeumo, it was reported that the Red Devils want to sign a defensive minded midfielder for Amorim. AC Milan leave Man United behind in the race for Jashari Early in the summer, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United held talks with the representatives of Club Brugge talent Ardon Jashari. The 23-year-old midfielder has drawn comparisons to Barcelona legend Sergio Busquets, owing to his technical prowess. However, AC Milan have now struck a deal with the Belgian outfit for the United target. According to Fabrizio Romano, Brugge have accepted Milan's latest bid believed to be in the region of €39 million. Jashari is now set to undergo medical tests, having already agreed to move to San Siro. Man United to make offer for Sara United, meanwhile, have set their sights on Galatasaray midfielder Gabriel Sara, according to reports in Turkey. Sara, who left Norwich City in 2024, has proven to be a great asset for Gala in the middle of the park. Still, he could swiftly return to England amid interest from the Premier League giants. It is understood that United are considering making a bid for Sara 'in the coming days.' For the time being, it seems they are focused on Sesko.
