Dave Portnoy lifts veil on Fox Sports partnership as he becomes face of ‘Big Noon Kickoff'
The Barstool Sports honcho officially confirmed that he and his sports media empire are joining Fox Sports on Thursday, and he detailed what he plans to add to his role on 'Big Noon Kickoff.'
'What conference has ruled college football year after year after year? National Champion after National Champion?' Portnoy said in one of his trademark 'Emergency Press Conference' videos posted to X. 'Answer: the Big Ten. And what network covers the Big Ten better than anybody else? Fox Sports. 'Big Noon Kickoff.' And what school has dominated the Big Ten more than any school in the history of the conference? The answer: the Michigan Wolverines.
Dave Portnoy announced Thursday that he and Barstool Sports are partnering with Fox Sports.

'Well, that ends today, friends. Barstool Sports, myself, we are joining 'Big Noon Kickoff.' The days of kicking Michigan when we're not around is over.'
As for the other details of the partnership, Portnoy let slip a few details on 'The Unnamed Show' with cohosts Ryan Whitney and Kirk Minihane, noting that it's a 'wide-ranging partnership.'
'We're going to partner with Big Noon Kickoff… I'm going to be on it every week,' he said, noting that Barstool Sports' college football show will remain as a lead-in on the website — though Barstool personalities will be incorporated into 'Kickoff.'
'We are going to do an 8-10 daily show on Fox Sports 1. It will be like a 'Barstool Breakfast Show' [or] 'Barstool Wake up,' Portnoy said. 'I'm going to do Mondays, we'll have an office in Chicago. They want a taste of the Barstool world, really.'
Barstool personalities, like Dan 'Big Cat' Katz, will have a role, though it's yet to be determined exactly how.
It's a stunning return to TV for Portnoy and his band of writers and podcasters. In 2017, Barstool Sports partnered with ESPN, but its 'Van Talk' show was canceled after one episode after the Worldwide Leader experience internal blowback.
It's not something Portnoy fears will happen again at Fox Sports.

'I'm very happy with the deal,' he said.
The feeling at Fox Sports is mutual.
'We're excited to welcome Dave Portnoy and Barstool Sports to the FOX Sports family. Dave has built a one-of-a-kind brand that connects with a new generation of sports fans – authentic, bold, and original,' CEO and Executive Producer of Fox Sports Eric Shanks said in a statement. 'Their unique voice and loyal fanbase makes them a natural fit for our evolving multiplatform content strategy.'

'Gross' - NFL Fans Aren't Pleased With ESPN's Newest Hire
'Gross' - NFL Fans Aren't Pleased With ESPN's Newest Hire originally appeared on The Spun. ESPN has undergone some major changes over the past several years as its said goodbye to some of its most recognizable faces and brought in new ones. And perhaps no hire has been more emblematic of the network's shift in culture than the recent hire of TikTok star Katie Feeney. On Monday, the Worldwide Leader announced the signing of the sports and lifestyle content creator as the potential bridge to a younger audience that may not engage with its favorite players, teams and leagues through traditional means. "Katie has built an impressive and authentic connection with sports fans by blending access, personality, and Gen-Z culture in a way that feels fresh and engaging," ESPN exec Kaitee Daley said in a statement. "Her perspective and creativity are a perfect match for how we're reimagining coverage to meet fans where they are, and we can't wait to see the energy she brings to ESPN's daily coverage and live event moments." Fans weren't exactly receptive to the "gross" hire on X. "It's incredible how out of touch ESPN has become," a user said. "Just like gambling, ESPN is years late to the 'lifestyle' content. There's zero chance they can compete with Barstool, Outkick, The Athletic, etc. ESPN's only path forward is returning to unbiased sports." "went to this chicks page to find out who she is and all her content is paid sponsorship man on the street interviews," another laughed. "ESPN got rid of around the horn to pay snapchatters for 30 videos ????" "14 million people and I have no clue who the hell she is," a fan admitted. "Talent means nothing in 2025 there are actors who can't get jobs because they don't have over 100k following on social media," another person posted. "ESPN firing talent left and right." "You go to school for journalism spend years mastering your craft. Katie is hot on Snapchat. You lost to Feeney," another user shared. "ESPN used to mean something man." "This channel used to air The Sports Reporters." There's clearly a bit of a generational divide when it comes to ESPN's embrace of social media (even if it tends to lean a bit on the cornier side). For what it's worth though, it seems like Katie has built a great brand for herself and we'll see what she's able to do in her new role.'Gross' - NFL Fans Aren't Pleased With ESPN's Newest Hire first appeared on The Spun on Aug 4, 2025 This story was originally reported by The Spun on Aug 4, 2025, where it first appeared.

Joel Klatt expects Michigan to be back among college football's elite in 2025
had an expected rebuild year last season after winning the national championship in 2023 and losing head coach to the . FOX Sports' Joel Klatt expects the Wolverines to bounce back in a big way this year, and even ranked them as the No. 10 team in his preseason college football rankings. 'I just love the way that they finished the season,' . 'This is a defense that got it going late in the year. Even with their star players not playing, they cannot be worse on offense than they were a year ago. And you know what? I think they're going to be back among the elite in college football. 'This team figured things out at the end of the year. They beat . They beat — basically, without an offense… There's no way they can be that bad throwing the ball again.' Michigan's offense was its downfall last season, particularly the team's passing game. Michigan averaged just 129.1 passing yards per game, the fourth-least in the country. The three teams that averaged fewer passing yards per game were all service academies. The Wolverines worked hard this offseason to ensure they won't face the same issue in 2025. Michigan brought in five-star freshman , who was the No. 1 player in the 2025 recruiting cycle. While Underwood has competition, he is the current favorite to land the starting role. Whoever is Michigan's QB1 this fall, the team should have a much-improved passing game. Klatt isn't nearly as concerned for Michigan's defense, which is returning just five starters from last season. 'I know they're going to have to replace some really talented players, in particular on the defensive front seven,' Klatt said. 'But, remember, without those players on the defensive front seven, without on the edge, they handled Alabama just fine. And that was an Alabama offense that still had , that still had , and was playing at full capacity. Michigan should be better. 'Their schedule is not that bad. If you look at that Oklahoma game, it's really the barometer. They're going to go travel to Norman, Oklahoma. And if they win that game, then watch out. This is a CFP team.' On Aug. 30, Michigan will kick off its 2025 campaign with a showdown against at 7:30 p.m. ET. The game will air live on NBC.

Fox Sports Joel Klatt ranks Texas No. 2 behind Penn State in preseason rankings
Fox Sports and lead analyst Joel Klatt will get a very good look at Texas in Week 1 of the college football season when the Longhorns travel to Columbus to face the Ohio State Buckeyes at the Horseshoe. Klatt has released his preseason Top 25 rankings and the former Colorado quarterback ranks Texas at No. 2, ahead of Ohio State but behind Penn State. If you've watched the Joel Klatt Show this summer, you know he's high on Arch Manning and the Texas Longhorns. "It's 'Arch Mania' folks. And I can't wait for it. I think Arch is going to be outstanding. He reminds me of the college version of Trevor Lawrence." - Joel Klatt of Fox Sports While Klatt is enthusiastic about Manning, he likes what surrounds the first-year starting QB on offense. "You look at what's around Manning. (Ryan) Wingo, he could be a breakout star on the outside. They get CJ Baxter back. Remember him? He's excellent. The O line has some question marks, but again, like this is a program that is recruited really, really well." - Joel Klatt of Fox Sports But as much as he thinks Manning will thrive, it is the Longhorns defense that has Klatt really excited about UT's chances at the national title. "I really think Texas has a chance to have the best defense in the country. Sark's known for offense. Everyone's going to talk about Arch, but the defense should be incredible. Really, really good. Did you know five of the last eight national champions have finished with the number one scoring defense in the country? Texas is going to have a chance to do that. They have a star at each level of that defense. Colin Simmons off the edge, Anthony Hill at linebacker, Michael Taff at safety. They hit the portal to address defensive tackle." - Joel Klatt of Fox Sports While Klatt can't make an official prediction for the game since he's the lead analyst on Aug. 30, but the fact he ranked the Horns ahead of the Buckeyes gives you an indication of he's true feelings. "I'm going to give them the early nod at least right now. Uh not picking a winner, but like I give them the nod over Ohio State in that 3-2 battle because I think I trust Manning over kind of an unfounded quarterback situation, unsettled quarterback situation at Ohio State." - Joel Klatt of Fox Sports Klatt believes Texas coach Steve Sarkisian has build a program that could become the best program in the SEC for years to come. "They've played in the national semifinal each of the last two years. Sark has built something that is sustainable. I believe that that's your SEC champion. I think that Texas in a lot of ways could steal the mantle from Georgia and win the SEC and become the preeminent program in that conference." - Joel Klatt of Fox Sports Still, the Fox Sports announcer has Texas No. 2 behind Penn State. Klatt thinks the Nittany Lions follow the pattern of the last couple national champs. "I'm huge on I'm huge on blueprints, folks. You know this and in the last two years we have seen the blueprint that goes out there and wins the national championship. That is an experienced team with an experienced quarterback with a lot of guys that come back. They spurn the NFL. They come back. There's a chip on their shoulder. There's a tough loss in their rearview mirror and they go out there, they right write the ship and they get it done. That's Penn State." - Joel Klatt of Fox Sports Follow us on X/Twitter at @LonghornsWire.
