NFL Analyst Bashes Jerry Jones' Approach With Micah Parsons
For the second year in a row, the Dallas Cowboys find themselves in a standoff with one of their core pieces regarding a new contract. As things between Micah Parsons and the organization continue to escalate, one analyst did not hold back on his thoughts on Jerry Jones' approach.
This ordeal stretches back months when Parsons first approached the Cowboys about an extension off of his rookie deal. The two sides seemed to be close to an agreement, which led to the star linebacker getting his agent involved. Since then, things have gone completely off the rails and become a worst-case scenario for Dallas.
Parsons has remained a professional and stayed around the team in some capacity, but recently made his frustrations very public. In a long post on social media last week, he gave his thoughts on this ordeal while also telling the world he's requested a trade from the Cowboys.

Nick Wright gives his thoughts on Jerry Jones' discussions with Micah Parsons
In his jaw-dropping post, Parsons talked about Jones wanting to discuss his contract without his agent present. This led to many people giving their thoughts on the longtime owner's tactics.
Among those who did not hold back when discussing Jones was FS1's Nick Wright. He dove into the situation on a recent episode of First Things First, dubbing his practices unethical.
"Jerry feels like they had an agreement and he wants to stick to it. And I think that is an unethical way to do business," Wright said. "What I do not think is right is if a player does not think we are going to be talking about numbers and a contract. And then it comes up and he engages, to then be like alright, shook on it, you and I said deal's a deal. That is not Micah's expertise."

Despite Parsons asking for a trade, it doesn't look like he'll be playing for a team that isn't the Cowboys anytime soon. Following his social media post, Jones gave his thoughts on the latest developments. He still expects the two sides to work things out, dismissing any notion that Dallas plans on honoring Parsons' request.
As the Cowboys get ready to begin their preseason schedule, they have to deal with this very public back-and-forth hanging over their heads.

Colin Cowherd Has a Problem With Cowboys HC Brian Schottenheimer's Backward Visor
National Football League Colin Cowherd Has a Problem With Cowboys HC Brian Schottenheimer's Backward Visor Published Aug. 5, 2025 12:23 p.m. ET share facebook x reddit link A lot of people like to wear a hat backward, and sometimes even a visor. To most people, it's not a big deal. Again, to most people. "You know I don't like backwards hats. What's worse is a backward visor. That's a two-win team," Colin Cowherd said on Monday's edition of "The Herd" about Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer wearing a backward visor at a press conference. "I'm taking away four wins. When you sit in front of a podium, you're representing the Cowboys; you're representing Bank of America; you're representing a $12 billion corporation. I think you got to do better as a head coach than a visor backwards. "There's a reason that at country clubs and private clubs, you have to wear collared shirts and jackets. There's a reason for that. There's a standard. I don't want to look like a guy that's here to move my couch. I want you to do better than that. That's awful. That is so bad." It's a sentiment that Cowherd has previously expressed, including with Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick and San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy. With regard to Redick, Cowherd said at the time that, "We can't just keep lowering our standards, or pretty soon, hat on backward becomes flip-flops and board shorts to work." If I have to be the mean guy that has to start the national dialogue on standards, so be it. … Go ahead. Standards are standards." ADVERTISEMENT Schottenheimer is entering his first season as the Cowboys' head coach after spending the previous two seasons as their offensive coordinator (2023-24) and the 2022 season as a coaching analyst. Dallas opens its 2025 preseason on the road on Saturday against the Los Angeles Rams. Will Schottenheimer break out the visor? It's projected to be between the mid 60s and mid 70s in Inglewood, CA, where the Rams play, on Saturday. Chances are if the Dallas head coach indeed breaks one a backward visor, Cowherd will be punching air. Want great stories delivered right to your inbox? 49ers Land Surprising Odds in Micah Parsons Trade Sweepstakes
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The 2025 NFL season is coming up quickly, but Micah Parsons has stirred up the rumor mill in a huge way. After publicly requesting a trade from the Dallas Cowboys, plenty of speculation has been rising. One team viewed as a potential contender to acquire Parsons is the San Francisco 49ers. Last season, the 49ers missed the playoffs. Just two years ago, they made a run to the Super Bowl before being defeated by the Kansas City Chiefs. San Francisco wants to get back to the big game and win it. Making a blockbuster move to pair Parsons with Nick Bosa would be a huge step in that direction. With Robert Saleh back in town as the team's defensive coordinator, San Francisco is hoping to get back to their defense-first mentality from a few years back. During the 2024 NFL season with the Cowboys, Parsons dealt with some injury issues and played in 13 games. He still racked up 43 total tackles, 12 sacks, two forced fumbles, and a defended pass. In 2023 with a full 17-game season, he racked up 64 tackles, 14 sacks, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and two defended passes. Read more: Vikings Reveal Major J.J. McCarthy News Before Preseason Opener At 26 years old, Parsons would be a long-term pickup for the 49ers. He wouldn't come cheap, but he would be well worth the investment that it would take to get him. There is still a chance that Dallas refuses to trade Parsons and that the two sides work out a long-term extension. However, if he does force his way out from the Cowboys, San Francisco should be one of the teams trying to make an aggressive move for him. Expect to hear more news about Parsons in the near future. With his trade request now officially out in public, the rumors and speculation will continue gaining steam. For more on the San Francisco 49ers and general NFL news, head over to Newsweek Sports.
