Struggling Yankees star's dad gets into explosive argument with Mets fan

Daily Mail2 days ago
The father of New York Yankees star Anthony Volpe was seen in a heated argument with a rival fan - as he jumped to the defense of his son.
The incident occurred during the Yankees' 6-4 win over the New York Mets and was caught on camera by another fan, who later posted it onto social media.
In the clip, Volpe's father - Michael - could be seen remonstrating with the rival fan while his wife, Isabelle, tried to calm him down.
The clip begins with Michael shouting: 'Let's go!' at a Mets fan, whose face was out of shot throughout the video.
It's unclear what the supporter said to agitate Volpe's father however he was seen shouting: 'Bad mouthing my son. F*** you. F*** you. F*** you. Bad mouthing my son you scum bag. You f***ing scumbag.'
Another supporter could be heard in the background saying: 'Your son's the best'. It's unclear whether it was a sarcastic comment to try and further agitate Volpe's dad.

The situation was unable to escalate further as, during the argument, 'God Bless America' began playing at Citi Field and fans quickly rose to their feet.
It's no secret that Yankees star Volpe has struggled in recent times. He went 1-for-11 during the Subway Series as his side fell to two defeats out of three.
The 24-year-old is slashing .219/.296/.398 and is third among MLB shortstops in errors this year with 11.
Moreover, Volpe leads the MLB in runners left on base while at bat - 176 - which perhaps indicates his struggle to perform when it matters most.
He has, however, hit 10 home runs and produced 48 RBIs, across 89 games, for the Yankees.
There is still plenty of time in the season to Volpe to turn his form around and prove his doubters wrong - and his father right.

Chiefs GM reignites Travis Kelce retirement fears with hard truth

Chiefs GM Brett Veach has reignited fan fears that Travis Kelce could soon retire. The tight end teased the possibility of ending his career following the loss in the Super Bowl and admitted the grind of NFL life had driven him 'crazy' last season. However, to the joy of Chiefs fans, it was later confirmed that the 35-year-old would return for a 13th season. He revealed that he'll deal with the 2026 season later 'down the road' but now fans are fearing that Kelce could be ready to hang up his cleats after Veach's comments. Speaking ESPN, Veach said: 'We've all seen it over the last few years. There are periods throughout the season where you're like, 'This might be it.' 'But when the games are the most important and the lights are the brightest, he finds it somewhere.' Veach opened up on the possibility of Kelce retiring during a recent interview with ESPN Kelce signed a two-year, $34.25million contract - with $17m guaranteed - back in April 2024. There is still one year left on that deal in Kansas City, where Kelce has played his entire career since being selected in the third round of the 2013 draft. The 35-year-old is already a three-time Super Bowl champion but the Chiefs failed in their bid for a historic three-peat. Reflecting on Kelce's career success, Veach said: 'The great ones know how to find it. They know where it's buried, and they know how to access it. 'And they can't access it at that age week in and week out, but when they need it, they know how to find it.' While Kelce is a fan favorite among Chiefs fans - and Swifties across the globe - the stats show that the tight end is on the decline. His 823 yards recorded last season is the lowest in his career, for a full season, and in the recent Super Bowl he managed four receptions for 39 yards as the Chiefs were humiliated. The 35-year-old has, however, been enjoying his offseason alongside girlfriend Taylor Swift and recently attended an event together for the first time as a couple. At the Tight End University event, Swift and Kelce were clearly locked in on each other, including sharing some PDA in front of cameras. Swift has attended 23 NFL games since she started dating Kelce, all while having touring commitments. That number should skyrocket as Kelce's time in the NFL may be dwindling with the 'Anti-Hero' singer on his arm.

Toni takes savage dig at ex Harrison as she moves on with new man in dramatic Love Island recoupling

LOVE Island's Toni got revenge on ex Harrison in tonight's dramatic recoupling. The American beauty decided to couple with bombshell Cach instead of sticking with Harrison, while he opted to partner with Lauren upon his return to the main villa. 4 4 There was no love lost between the exes, who had had a tumultuous time before the villa was separated into two for Casa Amor. Toni said she felt "sick to her stomach" before picking Cach. "For the first time during this process I'm putting my own feelings first," she added. Taking aim at Harrison, she then said, "maybe he shouldn't have ruined my birthday" referencing Harrison's kiss with Helena on her big day. Harrison stepped out with new girl Lauren and told Toni she looked happy before complimenting her new man. He said he had a spark with Lauren that was missing with Toni, to which his ex responded: "It's life, hey… I can't wait to hear your recoupling speech." There was then a bit of needle between Cach and Harrison after the former said Toni was now in a more "mature boundary". Harrison hit back: "What does that mean?" Viewers fear Cach might be using Toni, though, and fear she could be left heartbroken. "This dude with Toni sounds a bit desperate," said one person on X after watching Cach get to know her. Love Island star Dejon's colleague claims he's on the show to win it saying 'he's 'just there to secure the bag' "I feel like Cach is just saying anything," added a second. "I'm not sold on toni & cach, but anyways, go off," penned a third. However, he now has the chance to change their minds, having made it into the main villa. 4 4
