The unveiling of Xiaomi Corp. 's first electric SUV on Thursday will showcase how the Chinese tech company has become an investor darling with its high-stakes bet on the auto market.
Shares of the firm founded by billionaire Lei Jun are within striking distance of a fresh record in Hong Kong after a 64% surge this year. Now valued at $187 billion, Xiaomi is worth more than Chinese EV leader BYD Co. as it grows its footprint in the world's largest car market.

Jim Cramer Calls Marvell's Recent Sell Rating 'Ridiculous'
Marvell Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MRVL) is one of the 11 stocks Jim Cramer put under the microscope recently. When a caller highlighted that the stock has received a Sell rating, Cramer commented: 'On Marvell Technology, they have a Sell?… That's just ridiculous. Marvell's an excellent company, and they won a lot of business for some of the hyperscalers. I don't know. That's crazy. Matt Murphy is doing a remarkable job. The stock is starting to act right… So, by the way, I'm leaving a twofer, is AMD. So I think… you're on the right track owning Marvell, and that brokerage firm should rethink their negativity.' An assembly line in a semiconductor factory, with workers at their stations. Marvell Technology (NASDAQ:MRVL) supplies semiconductor solutions for data infrastructure, with a focus on system-on-a-chip designs that incorporate analog, mixed-signal, and digital processing. The company provides Ethernet components, processors, custom semiconductors, interconnect and storage technologies, and high-speed data transfer devices. Hardman Johnston Large Cap Equity Strategy stated the following regarding Marvell Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MRVL) in its Q1 2025 investor letter: 'The portfolio's off-benchmark position in Marvell Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:MRVL) contributed negatively with a return of -44.2%. Shares of Marvell came under pressure during the release and subsequent realization of the innovations of the DeepSeek's R1 model. DeepSeek is a Chinese AI competitor to ChatGPT and other large language models ('LLMs') that claimed to operate at significantly lower cost. This pressured the entire AI compute and networking supply chain, and, while impressive, we believe the immediate selloff was an overreaction. The compute requirements for reasoning models like R1 should drive greater hardware demand and lower cost, as more accessible AI models should drive up adoption. This pressure was exacerbated by Marvell's FY4Q results and FY1Q guidance that fell short of exuberant buyside expectations, as Amazon Web Services ramped its Trainium2 custom processor.' While we acknowledge the potential of MRVL as an investment, we believe certain AI stocks offer greater upside potential and carry less downside risk. Cyngn Stock: Should You Buy The Nvidia Hype?
Cyngn (NASDAQ:CYN) stock has surged over 300% in just two trading days after AI chip titan Nvidia named the company in a blog post as one of a select group of robotics innovators using its Isaac robotics platform to build autonomous industrial vehicles. Cyngn specializes in autonomous vehicle technology tailored for industrial and logistics applications. Isaac is Nvidia's robotics platform that combines AI models for perception, reasoning, and control, serving as an open foundation model for robotic skills and decision-making. Cyngn's flagship product, DriveMod, retrofits existing industrial vehicles such as forklifts, turning them into autonomous machines. The announcement from Nvidia comes ahead of Automatica 2025, a major global automation and robotics event where Cyngn is set to showcase its latest technologies. Cyngn's vehicles, which integrate Nvidia's Isaac platform with its own DriveMod software, are already operating in live commercial environments, catering to customers in logistics, manufacturing, and automotive sectors. Although these tools could play an increasing role in streamlining operations and reducing labor costs, investors should be cautious when it comes to Cyngn's stock. But, if you are looking for an upside with a smoother ride than an individual stock, consider the High Quality portfolio, which has outperformed the S&P, and clocked >91% returns since inception. (Photo by Hu Xiaofei/VCG via Getty Images) VCG via Getty Images Cyngn Is Still A Risky Bet Cyngn is still in the early stages of commercialization, with Q1 revenue of a mere $47,200, despite strong growth from a small base. Revenue volatility remains a concern. Over the past year, sales actually declined by 34.1%, falling from $0.6 million to $0.4 million, while the broader S&P 500 saw average revenue growth of 5.5%. Cyngn also posted a net loss of $7.6 million in Q1, reflecting continued heavy investment in R&D and scaling up its operations. The company recently announced a $15 million direct offering at $5.01 per share, providing additional capital but also diluting existing shareholders. With a high cash burn rate, Cyngn may need to raise more funds in the future. Valuation is also stretched. Cyngn trades at a price-to-sales (P/S) ratio of 43.5, compared to 3.1 for the S&P 500. It's also worth noting that the recent rally was sparked largely by Nvidia's mention, not an exclusive partnership or contract. Cyngn is one of more than ten companies featured in Nvidia's blog post, and likely just one of many that will leverage Isaac moving forward. With limited revenue, significant losses, and a recent share issuance, the rally appears driven more by speculation, rather than business fundamentals. While you would do well to be cautious about CYN stock for now, you could explore the Trefis Reinforced Value (RV) Portfolio, which has outperformed its all-cap stocks benchmark (combination of the S&P 500, S&P mid-cap, and Russell 2000 benchmark indices) to produce strong returns for investors. Why is that? The quarterly rebalanced mix of large-, mid- and small-cap RV Portfolio stocks provided a responsive way to make the most of upbeat market conditions while limiting losses when markets head south, as detailed in RV Portfolio performance metrics

Tesla observers spot concerning trend at automaker's dealerships: 'They're storing garbage'
Tesla appears to be driving toward a disappointing second quarter of sales after seeing a 13% year-over-year drop in deliveries in Q1. As detailed by Electrek, the automaker's electric vehicles are sitting in overflow lots across the country as inventory stacks up. In recent weeks, consumers have spotted idle Teslas in lots in Missouri, Nevada, Florida, Ohio, and Michigan, with ClickOnDetroit reporting one strip-mall parking lot in Farmington, Michigan, has had hundreds of Teslas baking in the sun for months. Electrek noted these lots are unrelated to the company's retail, delivery, or service locations. Perhaps to no one's surprise, given that Tesla has drastically slashed its prices, the oft-recalled and controversially designed Cybertruck is a frequent sighting, including in Farmington. At the time of the report on June 17, Tesla's inventory also showed a major uptick in Model 3 listings, which have since experienced a slight decrease. The outlet acknowledged that "Tesla's inventory in the United States can be difficult to track." However, the fact that the automaker is offering record-low lease pricing and subsidized financing with an inventory higher than Q1 suggests trouble, particularly because demand for Teslas has either declined or fallen off a cliff in Canada, parts of Europe, and China. "Yup. 3 lots near me. Dust covered Cybertrucks, even some new Model Ys," one Electrek commenter wrote, while a ClickOnDetroit viewer said, "They're storing garbage nobody else wants." It's not all bad news for Tesla, though. While CEO Elon Musk's political activities contributed to Tesla's sliding demand and volatile stocks, some consumers remain loyal, perhaps viewing their support for the brand as a seal of approval for the technology rather than Musk's political viewpoints. Interested parties will likely be able to snag a good deal on a Tesla at this time. "I'll take one, I need to upgrade," another ClickOnDetroit commenter said. The EV market is also growing as more drivers awaken to the energy and maintenance cost savings associated with EV ownership — and the fact that EVs contribute to healthier air quality because they don't have heat-trapping tailpipe pollution. Many are choosing to maximize their EV energy savings by connecting with companies like EnergySage to receive quotes on solar panels, which are cheaper to rely on for charging than public stations or the grid. The marketplace can save consumers up to $10,000 on installations. Meanwhile, Palmetto is making solar accessible to everyone through its no-money-down leasing programs that let consumers lock in low energy rates.
