Daily Record11-06-2025

Disney+ is offering a rare subscription deal as part of a limited-time promotion
Disney+ has launched a fantastic streaming deal, offering subscriptions for just £1.99, saving customers 60 percent on the usual price. The House of Mouse's streamer has initiated this 'limited-time promotion' which is available to both new and returning customers.
For four months, subscribers can enjoy Disney+ Standard with Ads for only £1.99 per month. Ordinarily, this would set you back £19.96, but it's currently available for a mere £7.96 – that's a whopping £12 discount.
But don't dawdle, as this offer won't be around forever. It's set to expire on June 30.
After the four-month promotional period, Disney+ Standard with Ads will automatically renew at the then-current monthly retail price unless cancelled.
This deal makes Disney+ the most affordable major streamer when compared to the cheapest subscription tiers of Netflix (£5.99), Amazon's Prime Video (£5.99) and Apple TV+ (£8.99). And it couldn't come at a better time, with a jam-packed summer slate of new and returning films and series on the horizon, reports the Mirror.
Leading the charge is the Disney blockbuster Snow White, which is already available for streaming. Also coming up this summer are Marvel's Ironheart (June 25), season four of The Bear (June 26) and the new prequel series Alien: Earth (August 13).
These exciting additions will join an ever-expanding library featuring recent hits and critically acclaimed series such as Andor, Welcome to Wrexham, Rivals, Only Murders in the Building and Shōgun.
The enticing £1.99 deal grants access to gripping titles such as Stolen Girl, Good American Family and the second season of the hit reality show, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. Disney+ ensures minimal disruption with less than four minutes of adverts per hour, a stark contrast to traditional terrestrial TV.

Trustpilot reviews from Disney+ users are glowing, with one stating: "Offering a fantastic and constantly updated collection."
Another user expresses their adoration for Disney+, particularly for Star Wars and Marvel fans, and notes the added value for adults with the introduction of Starz content.
However, they caveat their praise by pointing out: "Only reason it didn't get five stars is Disney are not using their other brands in the subscription.
"If they did this could easily be the best subscription service ever but there is much more content locked behind their own service."
Nevertheless, a glowing five-star appraisal states: "Good servers, good services, this nostalgia when watching old cartoons from TV. The subscription is really cheap compared to other streaming services."

Donald Trump makes his return to Disney World ride with new speaking role

Donald Trump has made a centerstage return to Disney World's freshly reopened Hall of Presidents - with a new and improved look from his first term. The animatronic political attraction in Magic Kingdom discreetly opened its doors on Sunday morning after being closed for five months. It shuttered on January 20 after Trump was inaugurated into his second term. The display shuts down after every presidential transition so Disney can update the show. Disney World did not announce the well-known display's sudden reopening - leaving both guests and employees confused. Cast members inside the Hall of Presidents' theater on Sunday morning told The Park Place they had no clue the show was returning and only found out when they came to work. Other than Trump's animatronic having a speaking role, no major changes have been made to the mechanized performance. The 20-minute demonstration begins with a narrated history lesson featuring all the country's former commander-in-chiefs, with Joe Biden's robot seen on stage behind Trump. A robotic Abraham Lincoln recites the Gettysburg Address, followed by a speech from George Washington. This time around, those invested in Disney's portrayal of the president have noticed the robotic figure has been upgraded to bear more resemble to the real life Trump The realistic Trump figure, situated in the middle of all the presidents, then gives his oath of office speech while mimicking Trump's hand gestures and mannerisms. He states: 'I, Donald John Trump, do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States and will, to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, so help me God.' When Trump was elected for his first term, people accused the theme park of creating a Hillary Clinton animatronic and sloppily switching it to Trump after she lost the 2016 election. Critics on pointed out how the robot meant to look like Trump looked far more like Clinton. 'Here (sic) me out on this. Clearly Disney had Hilary's (sic) robot ready to go and then had to try to make it look like Trump,' one user wrote on X, which was Twitter at the time. 'Don't hate me. This is just a necessary and painful fact we all need to deal with.' 'The more I see of Disney's 'Hall of Presidents' Trump, the more I'm convinced they made a Hillary one first and had to redo it,' another user agreed. 'Disney was so sure Hillary would win they just made a Hillary robot for their hall of presidents and when Trump won they just put a trump skin over it and it looks like something straight from hell,' someone joked. This time around, those invested in Disney's portrayal of the president have noticed the figure has been upgraded to better resemble to the real life Trump. 'Damn. I will miss Hilary (sic) Trump,' one person joked on X, as another added 'I guess that's an improvement.' 'AA [audio animatronic] was fixed and looks much much better now,' one man agreed. 'Maybe they could update the animatronic to better look like him. The last one they did was poorly done,' a user, who had not yet seen the new version, asserted.

Uncomfortable staff in the background of Lauren Sanchez's bridal photos go viral

Behind-the-scenes snapshots of Lauren Sanchez and Jeff Bezos ' wedding have started going viral... for all the wrong reasons. The blushing bride, 55, tied the knot with her Amazon founder beau, 61, in Venice, Italy, on Friday wearing a lacy Dolce & Gabbana gown. It boasted floral-inspired embellishments, long sleeves, tight bodice, high neckline, enormous train and button studs down the front. Lauren took to Instagram just moments after saying 'I do' to begin her huge rebrand as she deleted all of her old Instagram posts and changed her profile to include her new surname, Bezos. The only two uploads that currently show include a snapshot of the newlyweds standing hand-in-hand which was uploaded alongside a simple date caption. The other is a carousel of behind-the-scenes snaps of Lauren's wedding preparations. In the post, the former journalist was seen standing inside a decadent room at the wedding venue, wearing her dress and showing off its dramatic silhouette. The second photo, a black and white image, showed Lauren and her team helping her get into the gown, while the third image featured designer Domenico Dolce placing the lace veil on her head. 'Not just a gown, a piece of poetry,' she captioned the post. 'Thank you @dolcegabbana for the magic you made.' But unfortunately for Lauren, fans quickly got hung up on one small detail. Because in the background of one of the snaps were two female staffers wearing somewhat outdated maid outfits - consisting of white pinafores with black detailing to the collars and belt tie. The forlorn duo, believed to work at the venue, looked somewhat pained as they stood awkwardly and gazed toward Lauren who posed up a storm for the camera. And their apparent discomfort was quickly picked up on as the pictures began circulating on social media. Highlighting the pair with a large arrow, one user wrote: 'She willingly posted this. 'Ma'am. If ever there was an image to encapsulate this nightmare.' 'It's giving Handmaid's Tale,' another said, in reference to the best-selling novel about a totalitarian society ruled by a fundamentalist regime that treats women as property of the state. 'Why is this radicalizing me?' another quipped. 'Peak dystopia!' someone else shared. Others joked that their outfits were a 'fetishized' nod to the 1950s after Lauren told Vogue that she had researched pictures of brides from the era before being inspired by Sophia Loren's wedding dress from the 1958 movie Houseboat. But the newlyweds, who have already battled against protestors this week, are unlikely to be bothered by the internet chatter. Earlier this week, Sanchez debuted a giant new wedding ring - an oval-cut diamond worth an estimated $4 million - to dwarf her existing $2.5 million engagement rock. Courtesy of celebrity jeweler Lorraine Schwartz, the new gem is believed to weigh in at around 30 carats. 'We don't have a lot of traditions that we're keeping,' Sanchez told Vogue ahead of the big day. 'I mean, I love traditions, but for a 55-year-old woman, it's a little different.' But she did admit to keeping to the tradition of not letting her husband-to-be see her dress before the big day - despite the fact they have both been married before. 'I almost gave in,' she revealed, adding he 'begged' her for a glimpse. 'But I want it to be a surprise. As you get a little older, not many things surprise you. I can't wait to see his face.' While her a pair of earrings served as her 'something borrowed' on the wedding day, Sanchez gave her 'something blue' a cosmic twist - carrying a secret artifact from her recent 11-minute space journey. 'Blue Origin,' Sanchez said. 'It's something from my space flight.'

Sydney Sweeney's floaty playsuit nails Italian summer at Jeff Bezos wedding

Sydney Sweeney was the epitome of Italian summer style as she attended the wedding of Jeff Bezos, and we found a £30 lookalike for her £2.8k Chloe playsuit This weekend all anyone can talk about is the wedding of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his new wife Lauren Sanchez. The pair tied the knot in Venice with a guest list that rivals the Met Gala red carpet, which means we've gotten plenty of serious fashion inspiration – and envy – on how to do summer occasionwear right. However between wedding events, the guests were also snapped around Venice, including Sydney Sweeney who nailed the Italian way of dressing for the heat. Wearing a £2855 V-Neck Jumpsuit in Silk Georgette from Chloe, Sydney's effortlessly chic look is ideal for the summer heat, and good news for bargain hunters, because we found a fantastic alternative for just £30. One reason Sydney's black playsuit is such a hit is because it's the perfect combination of floaty, sexy and sophisticated, all whilst exuding the kind of glamour Italy is known for. If you don't want to splurge on her luxury piece, this ASOS DESIGN Double Cloth Gathered Bust Playsuit is a fantastic alternative. Priced at £30, the playsuit mirrors the breezy laid back silhouette of Sydney's Chloe jumpsuit, with a fitted waist, loose fitting A-line shorts and a sleeveless bodice. It also features plunging V-neckline, which keeps your modesty in check with a series of carefully placed ties which can be adjusted to fasten as loose or as tight as you like. The tie front also gives the illusion of having a similar neck scarf detail to Sydney's, however you could also add your own chiffon scarf to recreate the look. If you want something with a little more coverage that you could easily wear year round, this For The Moment Mini from Free People is ideal. It has long billowy long sleeves which gather at the wrist to create volume, with a v-neckline and a smocked waist to give it a flattering silhouette. Priced at £88 it is a mini dress, rather than a playsuit, however it captures the vibe of Sydney's look beautifully. However the ASOS Double Cloth Playsuit is versatile in its own right, and can be just as easily worn with a pair of tights, biker boots and wool coat in the winter as with a pair of sandals in the summer. It's made from 100% cotton, so it's breezy and lightweight to wear whilst still being hard wearing and comfortable. You can still shop it in all sizes from a four to an 18, or opt for the Curve version which offers sizes from 18 to 30. If black isn't your colour, you can also nab it in several other shades. With buttermilk yellow, green and pale pink colourways to pick from you can nail the summery look without breaking the bank. But if it's Sydney's timeless Italian style you want to copy, the black version should be winging its way to your wardrobe ASAP.
