Macaulay Culkin Says He Cried When Brother Kieran Won the Oscar: ‘There Was No Way He Was Not Going To'
While talking with Vanity Fair Spain following the show on Sunday night, Culkin was asked if he had seen his brother since he won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his role in 'A Real Pain.' He admitted he had not because, 'He's busy, he's Academy Award winner Kieran Culkin!' He did reveal he shed a tear watching his brother win from the crowd though.
'I cried and I was like 'I'm going to see you later,'' Culkin said.
Culkin added when asked if he thought his brother would win, 'He was front row, aisle, closest to the stairs. There was no way he was not going to win.'

Culkin was the heavy favorite to win the award so his brother was right to expect it. What was less expected was during the actor's acceptance speech he sprung a promise his wife Jazz Charton made him in the off chance he ever won an Oscar.
'I have to thank my wife, Jazz for absolutely everything, for giving me my favorite people in the world. This is, please don't play the music, because I want to tell a really quick story about Jazz,' the actor said, before sharing a brief anecdote with the audience. 'About a year ago, I was on a stage like this, and I very stupidly publicly said that I want a third kid from her, because she said, if I won the award, she would give me the kid. It turns out, she said that because she didn't think I was going to win. But then people came up to her and were like, you know, really annoying her.'
'But anyway, after the show, we're walking through a parking lot, she's holding me, and we're trying to find her car … And she goes, 'Oh God, I did say that. I guess I owe you a third kid,'' he continued. 'And I turned to her and I said, 'Really, I want four.' And she turned to me, I swear to God this happened, this is just over a year ago. She said, 'I will give you four when you win an Oscar.' I held my hand out, she shook it, and I have not brought it up once until just now. You remember that, honey? You do? OK. Then I just had this to say to you, Jess, love of my life, who gave little faith, no pressure. I love you. I'm really sorry I did this again, and let's get cracking on those kids. What do you say?'
The Best Supporting Actor Oscar was Culkin's first nomination and first win at the show.

Trump blasts Jimmy Fallon, Kimmel after celebrating Colbert's firing: 'No talent'
President Donald Trump is once again aiming at his usual late-night foes. "The word is, and it's a strong word at that, Jimmy Kimmel is NEXT to go in the untalented Late Night Sweepstakes and, shortly thereafter, (Jimmy) Fallon will be gone," the president wrote in a July 22 post on Truth Social. These are people with absolutely NO TALENT, who were paid Millions of Dollars for, in all cases, destroying what used to be GREAT Television. It's really good to see them go, and I hope I played a major part in it!" Fallon's contract with NBCUniversal will keep him at the network through 2028. Kimmel extended his contract in 2022 through his show's current 23rd season. Kimmel, Fallon, and the two-term president have been at odds for years. Kimmel, who recently excoriated Trump's immigration raids in Los Angeles, notably sparked Trump's ire by reading the president's criticism of his hosting skills during the Oscars telecast in 2024. When Trump won the 2024 presidential election, Fallon joked it was like "America decided to get back with a crazy ex." USA TODAY has reached out to reps for "The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon" and "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" for comment. A star-studded event: Colbert's friends Jon Stewart, the Jimmys show up on 'The Late Show' Stephen Colbert fired back at Trump's celebration Trump's comment comes days after Trump celebrated the cancellation of the "Late Show." Colbert fired back at the president's comments in his July 21 "Late Show" monologue, his first since announcing the bombshell news. "How dare you, sir? Would an untalented man be able to compose the following satirical witticism? Go (expletive) yourself," Colbert said. The three-word message was captured via an "eloquence cam" that was zoomed into the host's face. As he waved off the crowd's chanting of his name, Colbert read the next sentence in Trump's social media post: "I hear Jimmy Kimmel is next." Colbert replied: "Nope, absolutely not, Kimmel. I am the martyr. There's only room for one on this cross, and I've gotta tell you, the view is fantastic from up here. I can see your house!" The rest of Trump's post had also called out Fallon as the president wrote that Fox News' "Greg Gutfeld is better than all of them combined, including the moron on NBC who ruined the once great 'Tonight Show.'"

Benedict Cumberbatch Ate Five Meals a Day to Play Doctor Strange, Says Hollywood Is ‘Grossly Wasteful': ‘It's Horrific Eating Beyond Your Appetite… I Could Feed a Family With the Amount' I Ate
Benedict Cumberbatch called Hollywood a 'grossly wasteful industry' during an interview on 'Ruthie's Table 4' podcast. The Oscar nominee is no stranger to massive studio productions given his role as Doctor Strange in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While Cumberbatch loves undergoing a 'body transformation' for his work, he also says 'it's horrific eating beyond your appetite.' 'Going back to responsibility and resourcefulness and sustainability, it's just like, what am I doing? I could feed a family with the amount I'm eating,' Cumberbatch said, noting he would eat five meals a day while getting into Doctor Strange shape in addition to snacks like boiled eggs, almonds and cheese in between meals. More from Variety 'The Roses' Trailer: Benedict Cumberbatch and Olivia Colman's Marriage Goes to Hell in New Take on 'The War of the Roses' 'The Roses' Starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Olivia Colman Sets August Release From Searchlight Inside 'You Me Bum Bum Train,' London's Hottest Ticket That Swears Its 'Passengers' - Including Leonardo DiCaprio, Madonna and Benedict Cumberbatch - to Total Secrecy 'It's a grossly wasteful industry,' he continued. 'Think about set builds that aren't recycled, think about transport, think about food, think about housing, but also light and energy. The amount of wattage you need to create daylight and consistent light in a studio environment. It's a lot of energy.' Cumberbatch admitted that actors are routinely slammed and branded as hypocrites when they speak out in support of sustainability in Hollywood given how wasteful the industry is, but the actor noted that he tries to 'push the green initiative' on his film sets as both an actor and a producer. 'You don't have to give the crew plastic bottles,' he said as an example. If you're in the middle of a desert and you can't get glass bottles there, fair enough. But we're in 21st Century.' Cumberbatch is on a press tour for his upcoming movie 'The Roses,' a reimagining of the 1981 novel 'The War of the Roses' by Warren Adler. The book previously spawned a 1989 film adaptation of the same name starring Michael Douglas Kathleen Turner Danny DeVito G. D. Spradlin. Cumberbatch's new version co-stars Olivia Colman. The duo play a married couple who self-destruct during a bitter divorce. 'The Roses' opens August 29 from Searchlight Pictures. ‘Materialists' Comes to Digital, But When Will Dakota Johnson's ‘Materialists' Movie Be Streaming on HBO Max?
Celine Song's Materialists movie is coming to digital platforms tomorrow, which means you'll soon be able to watch one of the most divisive movies of 2025 from the comfort of your own home. Starring Dakota Johnson, Chris Evans, and Pedro Pascal, Materialists tells the story of a professional matchmaker (Johnson) who finds herself torn between a perfect, dreamy newcomer (Pascal) and her annoying-but-beautiful ex-boyfriend (Evans). Though the film was advertised as a light-hearted, romantic comedy follow up to Song's 2023 heartbreaking, Oscar-nominated romance, Past Lives, many were disappointed by the lack of comedy in the film. But others found it to be a touching, grounded romance all the same. This is definitely one of those movies that you'll want to watch for yourself and form your own opinion on. Read on to find out where to watch Dakota Johnson's Materialists movie online, and when we expect to be able to watch Materialists streaming on HBO Max. Where to watch the Dakota Johnson Materialists movie on streaming: Beginning on Tuesday, July 22 at 12 a.m. Eastern Time (which is also 9 p.m. Pacific Time on Monday, July 21) you will be able to buy a digital copy of Materialists on platforms like Amazon Prime, Fandango At Home, Apple TV, and more. The price may vary depending on which platform you use to buy the film, but on Amazon, the film cost $24.99 to pre-order a digital copy. Materialists will not yet be available to rent online. Materialists is not currently available to stream on any subscription-based services, but the film will eventually be coming to streaming, on HBO Max, thanks to the 2023 deal between A24 and Warner Bros. Discovery, which brings A24's previous and upcoming theatrical releases to the streaming service HBO Max. If you're new to HBO Max, you can sign up for as low as $9.99/month with ads, but an ad-free subscription will cost $16.99/month. HBO MAX DISNEY+ BUNDLES If you want to stream even more and save a few bucks a month while you're at it, we recommend subscribing to one of the discounted Disney+ Bundles with Hulu and HBO Max. With ads, the bundle costs $16.99/month and without ads, $29.99/month. When will the Materialists movie be streaming on HBO Max? The Materialists movie streaming release date on HBO Max has not yet been announced, but we can make an educated guess as to when you can expect to see Materialists on HBO Max. The A24 deal is a 'Pay-1 deal,' which means A24 movies will start streaming on HBO Max in the 'Pay 1 window,' meaning that HBO Max will be the first 'TV channel' to pay for the rights to Friendship, after the film has been released on digital and home media. One recent A24 title, Opus, began streaming on Max on July 11, about four months after its release in theaters, and about three months after its release on digital. If Materialists follows a similar release strategy, you might see Materialists streaming on Max in about four months, around mid-October 2025. This is all speculation. The A24 digital and streaming releases have varied by title. If you want to watch Materialists right away, you can buy a digital copy starting tomorrow.
