Trusting the offer, Sandeep got into the car, which was driven by a second man. A few minutes into the ride, the driver passed Sandeep a phone, claiming there was a trip confirmation call. On the line was the first man, who abruptly revised the fare: a base charge of ₹ 899, ₹ 50 per km, and a 1.9 per cent night-time surcharge - totalling over ₹ 4,000.

When Sandeep protested and asked to get out, the driver refused to stop, locked the doors, and continued driving at speed. He finally halted near Esteem Mall and demanded ₹ 4,220. With no choice, Sandeep paid up, after which the driver dumped his luggage on the roadside and sped off, the report stated.
Sandeep's father, Pradeep Penakalapati, a builder from Andhra Pradesh, filed a police complaint in this regard, after which the incident came to light. KIA police have now arrested the suspects, namely — Santosh (46) and Kabiruddin (33) — who are now in judicial custody, the report said.

Rajasthan man held for manufacturing, supplying counterfeit drugs across 6 states
Dehradun: A 38-year-old man from Bhiwadi, Rajasthan , has been arrested by the Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF) for allegedly manufacturing counterfeit medicines using fake packaging material. Navin Bansal had been supplying the fake drugs to multiple states, including Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Chandigarh, police said. He was tracked down in Rajasthan after his associate, Santosh, who allegedly produced the fake packaging, was arrested in Dehradun on June 1, said STF senior superintendent of police Navneet Singh Bhullar. During interrogation, Santosh revealed he made the fake packaging for branded pharmaceutical products, which he supplied to Bansal, who ran a pharmaceutical firm registered in his name. Based on this input, police used manual and electronic surveillance to locate Bansal in Bhiwadi on Friday and brought him to Dehradun the next day. Investigations revealed that Bansal had been involved in the racket for over seven years and was previously arrested by Delhi Police in 2018 in a similar case but was later released on bail. During questioning, Bansal told police about a factory operated by him and his associates in Uttarakhand to manufacture counterfeit drugs. Further investigation is underway. A case has been filed under BNS sections 318 (cheating), 340 (forgery), and relevant provisions of the Copyright Act. Additional charges may be added as the probe progresses.

Between March and June, the victim made 18 separate transfers totalling ₹ 72.3 lakh into 12 different accounts.
