Eagles' Lane Johnson shines on the small screen with a captivating pre-camp interview

USA Today20 hours ago

Former Eagles interview a current legend about all things Birds.
As one ages, they learn to appreciate things more, such as each Philadelphia Eagles season and another summer. Growing older can sometimes mean that certain parts of the body hurt with no apparent explanation. Why does my calf hurt? All I did was go to sleep last night!
It's great to wake up in the morning and get out of bed. But there are other facets to aging. We mature and grow wiser (or at least we should). We learn to stop and 'smell the roses' as they say.
We've said all that to say this. As much as we love summertime, Sundays without Eagles football are a drag. Thank Heaven for sports networks and a recent interview featuring two former Eagles and current legend Lane Johnson.
FS1's The Facility welcomes Lane Johnson for an exclusive interview
There's an old football saying, one coined by another franchise. "Once a raider, always a Raider..." You've probably heard that before. This was expressed when the team was in Los Angeles and Oakland. It hasn't died with the Las Vegas Raiders.
There isn't an Eagles parallel. No one says, "Once an Eagle, always an Eagle", but in some ways, the feeling is similar. Unless, of course, we're discussing Chip Kelly or Jason Babin, there is a tendency to check in on former Eagles to see how they are doing.
Frankly, that's the only reason we tune into FS1's The Facility. Two former Eagles are hosts, though we associated one with the organization (LeSean McCoy) more than the other (Emmanuel Acho).
Anywho... One of our favorite Birds recently joined the broadcast for an exclusive interview. Franchise legend Lane Johnson was recently named as one of two Eagles among the 21st century's top 25 draft picks of the past 25 years. The future Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee discussed everything from Jeff Stoutland's brilliance and the difficulty Philadelphia will face in repeating to, of course, Nick Sirianni and Jalen Hurts.
There are too many great quotes and memorable talking points to pull from this one, so here's a suggestion... Watch this one in its entirety when you have a moment. You'll undoubtedly be glad that you did.

Iconic '70s Rock Band Celebrates 50 Years of the Song That Changed Everything

Iconic '70s Rock Band Celebrates 50 Years of the Song That Changed Everything originally appeared on Parade. This legendary rock band is celebrating the 50th anniversary of one of their biggest hits. The Eagles released "One of These Nights" in 1975 as part of their fourth studio album — their last to feature the original four members. The record was a commercial success, spending five consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard pop chart. Within a month of its release, it had sold over half a million copies. Lead vocalist Glenn Frey once explained the meaning behind the song in an archived interview, saying it was all 'about putting things off.' 'We've all said, 'One of these nights I'm gonna do something – get that girl, make that money, find that house.' We all have our dreams – a vision we hope will come true someday. When that 'someday' will come is up to each of us.' Don Henley added that the song reflected a recurring theme in the Eagles' work, the search for something more. 'It doesn't matter if it's romance, money or security; it's the act of looking for it. Your whole life is one long journey, and getting there is more important than the journey's end,' he said. The track was one of the first recorded after guitarist Don Felder joined the band. At the time, the Eagles were looking to evolve their sound beyond their folk-rock roots. 'We wanted to get away from the ballad syndrome with 'One of These Nights,'' Henley told Rolling Stone in 1975. 'With Don Felder in the band now, we can really rock. He's made us nastier and did a great guitar solo on the single.' Frey and Henley reportedly co-wrote the song together in a Miami studio. Frey worked on the melody, while Henley came up with the iconic phrase fans still sing today. By the time "One of These Nights" dropped, the Eagles had already been playing together for four years. The band originally came together thanks to Linda Ronstadt, who, along with her manager, recruited Frey and Henley as part of her backing group. During that tour, the two musicians talked about starting their own band. Ronstadt suggested they bring in guitarist Bernie Leadon, and her manager recommended bassist Randy Meisner. The lineup clicked — and the Eagles took flight. Eagles Fans All Wondering Why Saquon Barkley Fantasy is 'Doomed'

Eagles Fans All Wondering Why Saquon Barkley Fantasy is 'Doomed' originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Is Saquon Barkley poised for a drop-off in his second season with the Philadelphia Eagles? History, and one particular analyst, believes that to be the case. Advertisement Barkley is coming off one of the greatest seasons for a running back ever. He set a new league record for rushing yards in a single season, including the postseason, and won the award for the offensive player of the year. He was a key catalyst to the Eagles winning Super Bowl LIX. After that historic season, though, one analyst believes Barkley is set up for failure in 2025, especially in fantasy. Bleacher Report's Gary Davenport thinks Barkley is "doomed" for fantasy football next season. He is the top running back and expected player in most drafts, and that is cause for major concern. "Saquon Barkley had a fantastic 2024 season," Davenport said. "However, he's doomed in 2025 for numerous reasons. Advertisement "Barkley had 378 touches a season ago, putting him squarely in the crosshairs of the 'Curse of 370.' Since 2007, there have been 25 instances where a running back surpassed 370 touches in a season. Of that group, only two gained more total yardage the following year." Davenport is not the only person who has seen the warning signs that Barkley could be in trouble. Each runner that has recorded over 2,000 yards in a season saw a significant decrease in efficiency the following year. The same goes for running backs who were also named offensive player of the year or are the top overall players in fantasy. There seems to be a "curse" that follows running backs who have historic seasons like Barkley enjoyed last year. While Philadelphia does have several factors that should help the All-Pro's case (an elite offensive line and other stars in the passing game), it's fair to wonder if Barkley can ever reach his elite mark again. Advertisement Fans are left wondering about the validity of all of this, but … It's hard to overlook Davenport's clear message about Barkley's potentially "doomed" future. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. A key offseason move for the Washington Commanders doesn't move the needle for former Philadelphia Eagles star Brandon Graham. As one prominent streamer by the name of Janky Rondo spoke with confidence about the Commanders heading into next season, mentioning the acquisition of Deebo Samuel as a reason why Washington will take an additional step forward, Graham fired back a massive shot at the versatile wideout. "You know we got Deebo," Graham heard. "I wouldn't worry about him," Graham fired back. "He gotta be in shape first—he don't look like he in shape right now." BG on Deebo Samuel: 'I wouldn't worry about him. He has to get in shape first' 🎥 credit IG: Jankyrondo — Jason Dumas (@JDumasReports) June 28, 2025 Graham made a name for himself as a notorious trash talker throughout his Eagles career. It doesn't come as a surprise that he continues to talk trash off the field, despite calling it a career this offseason. Plus, when it comes to Deebo Samuel and the Eagles, there's a lot of history there dating back to Deebo's days with the San Francisco 49ers. After the Eagles defeated the 49ers in the NFC Championship a few years back, Samuel and the 49ers entered the following year with a chip on their shoulder and dominated Philadelphia during the regular season. It was a heated battle, and Samuel was at the forefront of it all for San Francisco's side. These days, Samuel's Niners days are finished, but he landed on a direct rival of the Eagles. Since the Commanders and the Eagles just battled it out in the NFC Championship this past season, Samuel's rivalry with the Eagles will surely remain in place for the 2025 NFL season. Deebo Samuel Sr. #1 of the San Francisco 49ers in action against the Detroit Lions at Levi's Stadium on December 30, 2024. Deebo Samuel Sr. #1 of the San Francisco 49ers in action against the Detroit Lions at Levi's Stadium on December 30, won't get a chance to participate in those two matchups against Washington this season. The former 13th overall pick decided to hang up his cleats. The Eagles landed Graham out of Michigan in 2010. At the time, he was a controversial pick, and struggled to live up to his draft position early on. Eventually, Graham became a notable player on the defensive end of the ball for the Eagles. Before anybody knew it, Graham became a Pro Bowler, All-Pro, and two-time Super Bowl Champion. He played 206 games for the Eagles, registering over 75 sacks and 487 tackles. He might not take the field for the Eagles this year for the first time in over a decade, but Graham is clearly still about his trash-talking ways and downplaying any potential threat or enemy that might try to get in the way of his Eagles.
