Kaiser Chiefs star Ricky Wilson reveals bizarre moment he held hands with Hollywood A-lister during Elton John's Glastonbury set
Glastonbury Festival always brings out the weird and wonderful in people - and Ricky Wilson is no exception.
The Kaiser Chiefs frontman, 47, has revealed that during his last visit to Worthy Farm in 2023, he ended up holding hands with Hollywood star Andrew Garfield, 41, in a touching festival moment.
Speaking exclusively to The Sun ahead of opening the iconic Pyramid Stage on Saturday afternoon, Ricky recalled: 'I stood in the crowd watching Elton John and then I noticed Andrew Garfield was next to me.
He continued: 'When Your Song started, our hands happened to brush past each other. I said to Andrew, "Shall we?". He nodded and we just held hands. He won't deny it if you ask him.'
However, holding hands with Andrew wasn't the only surreal experience Ricky had at Glasto.
He recalled: 'I dressed up as Elvis Presley — the full jumpsuit, everything. I was supposed to be doing some songs in Block9 but I got there and didn't bother.'
Instead, he and pal Leigh Francis (aka Keith Lemon) ended up at Glastonbury-on-Sea, where they wound up calling bingo twice.
This year, Ricky is back, and he's bringing his wife Grace along for the ride. The couple have checked into a plush hotel near the site before his big performance.
And Ricky's already drawn up their hit list of must-see acts - including Pulp, who are rumoured to be playing a secret set on Saturday under the pseudonym Patchwork.
Ricky's return to the Pyramid Stage comes 20 years after the Kaiser Chiefs first performed there, fresh off the success of their breakthrough album Employment.
He admitted he didn't quite grasp the significance of that 2005 appearance at the time.
Caught up in a whirlwind of gigs across Italy and America, Ricky said he only realised how massive the moment was when they stepped on stage at Glastonbury and were met with a raucous crowd back home.
When it comes to this year's set, Ricky revealed the band had toyed with the idea of performing Employment in full to celebrate its 20th anniversary - but ultimately decided to shake things up.
With so many fan favourites in their back catalogue, they didn't want to leave any out, and hinted they've got even bigger tracks lined up for the crowd.
Meanwhile, thousands of revellers have already descended on Worthy Farm as Glastonbury Festival 2025 kicks off in full swing.
With a star-studded lineup set to light up the legendary fields, this year's event is already shaping up to be one of the most iconic yet.
Headlining the Pyramid Stage are The 1975 on Friday evening, marking their debut in the coveted top slot, followed by rock legend Neil Young & the Chrome Hearts on Saturday.
Pop sensation Olivia Rodrigo will bring the festival to a dazzling close on Sunday night, while music icon Rod Stewart is set to make his long-awaited Glastonbury debut in the much-loved Sunday Legends slot.
Other major acts lighting up the weekend include Charli XCX and The Prodigy, headlining the Other Stage on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

Kneecap member Mo Chara said 'Glastonbury, I'm a free man' as the Irish rap trio took to the West Holts Stage at the festival on Saturday. The group, who hail from Belfast, have been in the headlines after member Liam Og O hAnnaidh, who performs under the name Mo Chara, was charged with a terror offence. Access to the area around the West Holts Stage was closed around 45 minutes before their performance after groups of fans arrived to form a sea of Irish and Palestinian flags. Rap punk duo Bob Vylan performed on the stage before Kneecap and led the crowd in chants of 'Free, free Palestine' and 'Death, death to the IDF'. In the run up to the festival at Worthy Farm in Somerset, several politicians called for Kneecap to be removed from the line-up and Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said their performance would not be 'appropriate'. Earlier on Saturday, the BBC confirmed they would not be live-streaming the set but said the performance is likely to be made available on-demand later. A BBC spokesperson said: 'As the broadcast partner, the BBC is bringing audiences extensive music coverage from Glastonbury, with artists booked by the festival organisers. 'While the BBC doesn't ban artists, our plans ensure that our programming meets our editorial guidelines. 'We don't always live-stream every act from the main stages and look to make an on-demand version of Kneecap's performance available on our digital platforms, alongside more than 90 other sets.' It is understood the BBC needs to consider the performance before making a final decision. The band said on Instagram: 'The propaganda wing of the regime has just contacted us…. 'They WILL put our set from Glastonbury today on the iPlayer later this evening for your viewing pleasure.' O hAnnaidh, 27, was charged with allegedly displaying a flag in support of proscribed terrorist organisation Hezbollah, while saying 'up Hamas, up Hezbollah' at a gig in November last year. On June 18 the rapper was cheered by hundreds of supporters as he arrived with bandmates Naoise O Caireallain and O Dochartaigh at Westminster Magistrates' Court in Free Mo Chara T-shirts. He was released on unconditional bail until the next hearing at the same court on August 20. Ahead of the group's performance, Gemma Gibson, 41, from Newcastle told the PA news agency that she was 'really excited' to see Kneecap perform. Alternative metal band Deftones were due to play on Saturday night but their slot has now been filled by rapper Skepta. A social media post from Glastonbury Festival said: 'Deftones have been forced to cancel tonight's 8.30pm Other Stage performance due to illness in the band. Neil Young, best known for songs such as Rockin' In The Free World, Like A Hurricane and Cinnamon Girl, will headline the Pyramid Stage on Saturday night with his band the Chrome Hearts. The BBC will broadcast Young's set after previously saying it would not be shown 'at the artist's request'.
