Haliburton compared to Andrew Luck and Peyton Manning originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
From 1999 to 2018, with a few exceptions, the Indianapolis Colts were one of the most consistent teams in the NFL. Between Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck, the Colts had a steady hand at quarterback and made the playoffs 16 times under those gunslingers.

They made two Super Bowls, winning one, while the Indiana Pacers, for the most part, fell short to LeBron James or the Boston Celtics during the same span.
However, as Anthony Richardson struggles to stay healthy, the Colts have taken a step back, and with Tyrese Haliburton leading the way, the Pacers have stepped up as the best team in the state.
With Caitlin Clark leading the Indiana Fever, Indiana is once again basketball country.
After the Pacers made their first Finals since 2000, Myles Turner took a moment to compare Haliburton to some all-time great Indiana athletes.
"It's all happened so fast, but he's done a great job of composing himself and showing up when it matters the most," Turner said on Saturday. "So yeah, when you want to say he's the Peyton Manning or Andrew Luck of the city, it makes sense. He's the head of the snake."

Haliburton has received his fair share of criticism, especially after getting off to a slow start this season, although he has certainly bounced back in the playoffs, hitting five go-ahead or game-winning shots in the postseason.
'I'm just proud of the way he's handled everything," Turner continued.
The Pacers stole Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder before losing Game 2, but will head back home to Indiana with the series evened up. Game 3 will tip off on Wednesday.

Jameis Winston says Eagles dynamic duo is 'something the NFL never wanted to see'

During a sit-down with Ryan Clark and the Pivot Podcast, Jameis Winston praised Philadelphia's duo, stating they are "what the league never wanted to see." Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley are the fuel that makes the Eagles' offensive engine run, and one veteran quarterback believes they are the duo the NFL never wanted to see come together. During a sit-down with Ryan Clark and the Pivot Podcast, Jameis Winston praised Philadelphia's duo, stating they are "what the league never wanted to see." Hurts, crowned Super Bowl LIX MVP, became just the second QB in Eagles history to deliver a Super Bowl Championship to the City of Philadelphia, joining Nick Foles (Super Bowl LII MVP). According to Elias Sports, Hurts is only the seventh NFL QB to appear in multiple Super Bowls and win a championship in their first five seasons. The other QBs who did so are Troy Aikman, Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, Ben Roethlisberger, Kurt Warner, and Russell Wilson. In his first year with the Eagles, Saquon Barkley became just the ninth player in NFL history to surpass 2,000 rushing yards (2,005) in a single season.

Stephen Curry once admitted he couldn't stop Kyrie Irving's iconic 3-pointer in the 2016 NBA Finals: "I was right there, tried not to foul, I stayed in front and contested"

Stephen Curry once admitted he couldn't stop Kyrie Irving's iconic 3-pointer in the 2016 NBA Finals: "I was right there, tried not to foul, I stayed in front and contested" originally appeared on Basketball Network. The 2016 NBA Finals were undoubtedly memorable given the unexpected twists and turns. With that being said, Kyrie Irving's game-winning 3-pointer over Stephen Curry will always remain one of the main highlights of the unforgettable seven-game series. A rematch from the 2015 Finals, with the Golden State Warriors prevailing over the Cleveland Cavaliers previously. Given the commanding 3-1 lead, it looked like history would repeat itself. However, LeBron James would not let this one slip so easily, especially with Irving by his side. The Cavs won the next two games to tie the series at 3-3, with the Dubs still having the home-court advantage in Game Seven. Trading punches, there came a time when neither side could drain a shot until Irving took matters into his own hands, with 53 seconds left in the game. A game-winning 3-pointer that etched his name in history. Unable to stop him, Curry did not have any regrets when it came to his defense. "You could tell that's a shot he's worked on. I was right there. Tried not to foul. I stayed in front and contested. He just made an amazing shot. You have to give him credit. There's nothing I'd do differently on that play," said Curry, who was recently named the first-ever unanimous MVP in 2016. Good defense but better offense Interestingly, Klay Thompson had been assigned defensive duties on Irving. But a timely screen from J.R. Smith had Curry switching with his Splash Brother. The Chef was locked in despite the sudden adjustment but could do nothing to combat Uncle Drew's wizardry. Irving sank the 3-pointer, which gave the Cavs a 92-89 lead with less than a minute remaining. He ended the fourth-quarter scoring dry spell and helped Cleveland snap its 52-year championship drought. The first team to ever come back from a 3-1 deficit in the Finals. It was an emotional moment for James, considering his history with the franchise and city. None of this would have been possible without Irving, who averaged 27 points during the Finals and shot 40 percent from the field. Mutual respect between Curry and Irving Two generational guards known for their one-of-a-kind skill sets, Curry and Irving, were drafted two years apart. It's no surprise, they were positioned as rivals, especially given their history in the Finals. Nevertheless, the two shared a common admiration for each other. While Curry gave his flowers to Irving regarding the 2016 Finals game-winner over him, the latter never hesitated to acknowledge what No. 30 has meant to the game. "I just show respect to the guys like that. He has put in a ton of work for our league, he has set the bar for a lot of us point guards of where we want to be, we are still chasing his legacy," said Irving about Curry in 2024. Both Curry and Irving have been game-changers when it comes to the point guard position in the NBA. Blessed with marksmanship and ball-handling skills, the two veterans have inspired a story was originally reported by Basketball Network on Aug 2, 2025, where it first appeared.

Indianapolis Colts LB Zaire Franklin making training camp debut

Colts' LB Zaire Franklin is set to make his training camp debut on Saturday. Indianapolis Colts' linebacker Zaire Franklin was on the field and warming up prior to Saturday's training camp practice. Franklin has yet to practice during training camp up to this point as he continued to recover from offseason ankle surgery. Earlier in the week, Shane Steichen expressed his optimism that Franklin would be able to return fairly soon. It appears that time has now come. Now, there may still be a ramp-up period for Franklin. Just because he's warming up may not mean that he goes through team drills today. We will have to wait and see what the practice plan is. Franklin is coming off a career year in which he led the NFL in tackles, while also setting career highs in sacks and interceptions. He made his first Pro Bowl and was named a second-team All-Pro as well. Being paired with Jaylon Carlies, who brings a coverage element to the position as a former safety, and operating in Lou Anarumo's defensive back-heavy scheme, should all benefit Franklin, who could, as a result, see added opportunities near the line of scrimmage this season, which is where he's at his best.
