Jordan: Bus routes connecting Amman with Irbid, Jerash launched
The project, funded by government support totalling JD4.5 million, aims to enhance the integration and reliability across the Kingdom, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The project includes the operation of 39 buses on the Amman–Irbid route and 15 buses on the Amman–Jerash line.
An additional nine buses are expected to join the Jerash route soon, bringing the total fleet serving the two routes to 63 modern buses.
These vehicles are equipped with 'advanced' technologies designed to ensure passenger comfort and safety, including vehicle tracking systems, electronic fare collection, onboard surveillance cameras, and real-time passenger information systems.
Tahtamouni said that this initiative is part of a broader national plan to modernise public transportation between the capital and the governorates.
She described the project as a 'genuine' step towards establishing a smart and efficient public transport network that improves service delivery and facilitates citizens' mobility, all while maintaining technical, administrative and regulatory standards.
The minister also noted that the pilot operations have shown promising results, with both routes currently serving around 3,000 passengers per day on weekdays.
This number is expected to rise progressively to 7,000 daily passengers as service frequency and operational efficiency improve to meet growing demand for intercity transport.
Tahtamouni announced that the trial operation of the Amman–Karak route also commenced on Tuesday, while the Amman–Salt line will begin its pilot phase later this month.
Both are scheduled for official launch at the beginning of August, as part of the project's rollout.
Tahtamouni reiterated the ministry's commitment to completing all phases of the project on schedule, in alignment with the transport needs of citizens nationwide.
The project is being implemented by the Comprehensive Multiple Transportation Company, the official operator, under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Transport and the Land Transport Regulatory Commission.

Queen Alia Airport records 4.4mln passengers in H1 2025
Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA) in Jordan served 4,406,690 passengers in the first half of 2025, marking a 6 per cent growth over H1 2024. Jordan records 0.8% increase in fuel sales during H1 2025
AMMAN — Sales of petroleum derivatives in Jordan reached 1,761.7 million litres during the first half of 2025, up from 1,747.5 million litres during the same period in 2024, marking a 0.8 per cent increase, according to figures from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. The data also showed mixed trends across fuel categories. Sales of 90-octane gasoline declined by 2.8 per cent, dropping from 769.9 million litres to 748.4 million litres. In contrast, sales of 95-octane gasoline rose by 6.7 per cent, from 70.8 million litres to 75.6 million litres, the Jordan News Agency, Petra reported. Diesel sales also recorded a notable increase, rising from 846.0 million litres to 888.1 million litres, a 5.0 per cent increase. Jordan: JBA, Rwanda ambassador discuss forming joint business council
AMMAN — President of the Jordanian Businessmen Association (JBA) Hamdi Tabbaa on Wednesday met Rwandan Ambassador to the Kingdom James Ngango to discuss establishing a Jordan-Rwanda business council. The council aims to boost economic relations, facilitate 'deeper' business cooperation between the two countries, explore ways to expand cooperation between the private sectors of both countries and develop trade and investment exchanges, especially in priority sectors of mutual interest, according to Jordan News Agency, Petra. Tabbaa stressed the importance of building 'strategic' partnerships between businessmen in Jordan and Rwanda, calling for the need to organise "reciprocal" economic delegations to highlight promising investment opportunities in the Kingdom, particularly in the sectors of agriculture, tourism and pharmaceuticals. He also highlighted the significance of enhancing communication channels between the business communities of both countries to facilitate the exchange of expertise and enhancing cooperation. Ngango welcomed the proposal to establish a Jordan-Rwanda business council, expressing Rwanda's interest in boosting economic cooperation with Jordan. He highlighted his country's commitment to encouraging investors from both sides to explore the available investment opportunities, reinforcing the intent to expand bilateral economic ties and collaboration between the private sectors of both countries. The diplomat said that Jordan offers an attractive investment environment and encouraging incentives, while Rwanda provides a stimulating investment climate and various facilities for foreign investors.
