'I named my son Harry Potter and people react in very wild way'
A woman has sparked a debate after naming her son Harry Potter - but she says there's nothing magical about the name for her. She explained how she took her husband's surname at the altar 10 years ago and originally planned to name her son Louis Michael but shortly before his birth, her dad tragically died.
She said on Reddit: "Michael, my husband's middle name being Michael, Louis being a name we both liked. However, during my pregnancy my dad passed away tragically and unexpectedly. He had been having abdominal pain and fatigue for some months and we begged him to get treatment but he didn't. He ended up having an aortic aneurism behind the wheel of his car. He made impact with a traffic pole but he was dead before impact."
She says her dad's death "destroyed her" - and caused her 'easy' pregnancy to turn into 'high-risk'. She said: "I'm still mourning him. It's been four and a half months and I'm still not over it.
"My dad's name was Harry, and conveniently his middle name was also Michael. I wanted to honour my father by calling my son after him. But that would mean his name is Harry Potter.
"Anyway, I decided to not let the book series and movies rule my emotions and decision, and my lovely little boy with big blue eyes and bright-red hair is called Harry Michael Potter."
The mum jokingly added: "He's only about three weeks old and we're totally in love and he's a decent little dude, we'll probably end up keeping him."
She announced her son's birth with a professional photoshoot, sending the snaps to her close friends and family members in the post.
However, she wasn't at all expecting them to inundate her with their thoughts on his name.
She added: "Being a birth announcement Harry's full name is on the announcement. I've been getting an unending amount of ridicule and shaming from people for calling my son Harry.
"To add insult to injury one of my so-called 'friends' shared the birth announcement with a meme page and now I'm getting it from everywhere.
"My husband and I love the name, there's no question of keeping it, but I'm at the point where I'm considering asking my husband if he would mind if we change Harry's last name to my maiden name, so he'd be Harry Michael Vaughn. I'm pretty sure he'd agree since he's getting annoyed too.
"The worst is the shaming online. Y'all know the toxic culture of Facebook and mum-groups, I'm having people accuse me of child-abuse, people saying I need to have the authorities, CPS, whatever, called on me."
Commenting on her post, one user said: "If you think you get ridiculed it's nothing compared to what your son is going to get."
Another user added: "Firstly, I'm sorry to hear about your dad. You can name your kid whatever you want but be aware that, even though the name has tremendous meaning to you, the average person (and future employers) will only think of it as the book character and not a homage to your late father.
A third user said: "Even if this is real, this is terrible. You're going to honour your father by having your son be constantly ridiculed. Smart."
One more user said: "The people who are mocking you are — but you, your husband and your son will have to deal with this literally for the rest of his life.
"You need to come up with some strategies to address it in real life ('he's named for my late father' accompanied by a cold stare should work) and to handle the online hate (which may just be ignoring it).
"Then you'll have to teach those strategies to your son. Congrats on the baby, and I'm sorry about your dad."

Love Island's Helena breaks silence after shock villa axe and reveals plan to double date with surprising islander
LOVE Island star Helena has broken her silence after her shock villa axe, and revealed plans to double date with a surprising Islander on the outside. Helena had her fair share of ups and downs with the public on Love Island. 4 And on Thursday night, the star was dumped from the villa alongside Blu, who she'd been in a friendship couple with. The former cabin crew member had a tumultuous relationship with Harry Cooksley on the show, with the pair even going exclusive before he dumped her for Shakira Khan. But despite that, Helena said in her exit interview that she plans on staying pals with the footballer, and that they'll even go on a double date with Meg and Dejon. She shared: 'I don't regret saying we would be friends because I was accepting of the situation and starting to move on from it. 'The main thing for me wasn't losing the relationship, it was losing our friendship as we had such a great connection. 'I wanted to still be around him and not avoid him.' Helena continued: 'I think without the pressure of being in the Villa and seeing each other on the outside we will be friends. 'Me, Meg, D and him had already made plans to do things as a four. We have so many similarities, which was why we got on in the first place.' She also opened up on the backlash Harry had received for the way he'd handled the love triangle. Love Island in new fix row as fans hit out at 'massive rule break' Helena admitted: 'Actions will always have consequences but I would still back him in some situations as he is remorseful. 'I don't think he is a bad person, I just don't think he knows how to handle certain things.' As Helena was eliminated from Love Island last night, the former cabin crew member showed a softer side on-screen that left those watching wishing they had got to know her more. After embracing her former villa-mates, Helena had a sweet, concise parting message to her ex Harry - who had been involved in a dramatic love triangle with both herself and Shakira. 'Look after Shakira,' Helena said. Despite being exclusive with Helena only days prior before the couple split, Harry admitted to still also having feelings for Shakira. Taking a moment to ask Harry to look out for Shakira was a touching gesture, especially as Helena and Shakira had the occasional spat, and Shakira and Helena's friend, Meg, were on horrible terms leading to one of the 'biggest feuds in Love Island history'. Taking to X, one viewer wrote: "Whatever you think of Helena, her walking out by saying to Harry 'be good to Shakira' is lovely. She's not the mean girl a lot of people try to make her out to be." Another added: "helena and shakira hug is so sweet." A third tweeted: "Helena telling Harry to 'be good to Shakira' after everything was a really nice thing to do." 4 4

Fans bewildered by actor 'set to replace' Jesse Eisenberg in Social Network 2
Fans have been left baffled at the prospect of an actor replacing star Jesse Eisenberg as Mark Zuckerberg in the sequel to The Social Network. They've called the move 'odd' and questioned its impact on the film's success. There's been a flurry of reports regarding a sequel to the 2010 Oscar-winning movie about the birth of social media platform Facebook and its founder. In June, it was said that original writer Aaron Sorkin had found the right angle for the second movie after teasing the possibility for years and was confirmed to direct it as well, replacing original director David Fincher. According to Deadline, insiders revealed its title was currently The Social Network Part II although it was 'not a straight sequel' to the first movie, which also featured actors Andrew Garfield, Justin Timberlake, Max Minghella and Armie Hammer. Since then, the publication has reported that Sorkin is also keen to cast this year's best actress Academy Award winner Mikey Madison, from Anora, and The Bear's Jeremy Allen White, who will soon be seen in the lead role in Bruce Springsteen biopic Deliver Me from Nowhere. But the latest report reveals that Succession star Jeremy Strong is being eyed by Sorkin to play Zuckerberg, whose company has rebranded as Meta, having had a meeting with the filmmaker. As per The Hollywood Reporter, a source claimed that A Real Pain star and scribe Eisenberg – who was nominated for an Oscar for his work in the first film – had 'passed, at least at this time' on the opportunity to reprise the role. 'As much as I love Jeremy Strong he needs to pass on this. This will not help his career. Without Eisenberg, they should cancel this or find a way into the story without Zuckerberg as a character,' announced @WhereIsBatman89 on X, while another fan insisted: 'Jesse Eisenberg as Zuckerberg or this movie is dead on arrival.' 'We do not want him. Bring Jesse back,' commented Poppy, while @DxTCinema asked: 'Why why why we want Jesse.' Meanwhile fan Chandler called the casting rumour 'odd' and others shared their confusion over a lack of immediate similarity in Strong's and Zuckerberg's looks. 'Ah yes that's perfect they look like twins,' quipped Michael K, while Joelyn added: 'The resemblance is uncanny.' But others were thrilled at the prospect of Strong, who also impressed with his turn as Donald Trump's ruthless mentor Roy Cohn in The Apprentice – for which he was Oscar nominated for best supporting actor. 'YUP let's go. His Oscar is loading,' tweeted Mikayla Davis, with Abhinav adding: 'This cast is WILD. If the script hits, we're looking at another awards season sweep.' 'Trying to be calm about this but Jeremy Strong as Mark Zuckerberg is one of the most insane casting coups in history, like we need to give them an Oscar for even thinking about this,' enthused @paaarth319. The Social Network Part II will focus on Facebook's role in the light of the spreading of misinformation ahead of the attempted coup on January 6, 2021 in America, as well as its impact on its young users and violence, and in countries beyond the US too. More Trending It's understood Madison, if she accepts the role, would play whistleblower Frances Haugen, the data engineer who went to the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Wall Street Journal. White would be former WSJ tech reporter Jeff Horwitz, who wrote the publication's explosive Facebook Files series of articles based on her information. There was also recognition that Strong could be in contention for a role other than that of Zuckerberg, as there is said to be a part available as a WSJ editor too. My mother-in-law wore white to my wedding, then she excluded me from photos ‘in case it didn't work out'
A WOMAN has revealed the horror her mother-in-law unleashed on her wedding day. Taking to social media, the now wife revealed her husband's mother did everything she could to make the day about her, including wearing a white dress. 2 2 In the Reddit post, she shared two images from her wedding day and blurred out the faces. While you can often tell who is the bride by the white dress, these pictures were unclear as her mother-in-law decided to wear one too. In the first image, the bride and groom were surrounded by both of their parents, her mum wore an appropriate pink and black dress. But her mother-in-law decided to go all out wearing a white mid-length dress with a full skirt. She even put pink flowers on the neckline, similar to the bride's pink satin bow at the front of her dress. But that wasn't the only problem the bride faced on her wedding day 15 years ago. Taking to the Wedding Shaming forum, she said: "My MIL (mother-in-law) wore a white, short dress to the wedding. She also told me to get out of the frame for the 2nd pic." The next picture showed the groom and his mum hugging with her arms wrapped around him, something you'd find the happy couple posing for. The bride added: "First picture is our parents together, with us. She wanted to be next to my husband for every pic, so she abandoned her husband to pose with my mom when she switched sides. "She kept asking my photographer to take pics without me in them in case things didn't work out. I was fuming when I found out the reason my family hadn't RSVP-ed to my wedding - now they're uninvited "She took the photographer for like 10 minutes for a family-only shoot. "It was so embarrassing for my soul. 15 years later, she's still a butthole." People were horrified by the story and were quick to share their thoughts in the comments. Fortunately, the couple managed to escape her overbearing mother-in-law and moved to a different continent four months after the ceremony. One person wrote: "She seems like one of those gross mums who wishes she could have married her own son." Wedding Guest Outfit Etiquette If you're struggling to decided on a dress to see you through wedding season, here's a few rules on what not to wear so you don't get in trouble. Folklore says that wearing red at a wedding means you slept with the groom. Casual attire like jeans and flip flops should always be avoided. Any colour that could be picked up as white or cream - even if it's not. Most would agree that your cleavage needs to be covered. Wearing white is a massive no-no if you're not the bride. Another commented: "Beyond tacky and audacious. She looks like she's dressed for junior prom. His one finger just touching her hip while she's wrapped around him is killing me." "She looks terrible in that dress. She made a fool out of herself," penned a third. Meanwhile a fourth said: "Jesus this is embarrassing to witness." "What fresh hell is this. So tacky,' claimed a fifth
