3 killed in crash involving motorcyclist fleeing Southern California police
The tragic incident unfolded at around 10:30 a.m. when deputies with the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the motorcyclist for reckless driving in Redlands.
'The driver of the motorcycle did not yield and fled from the deputies,' SBSD Public Information Officer Mara Rodriguez said in a statement to KTLA. 'The motorcycle driver collided [with] a vehicle on Redlands Boulevard near Tennessee Street.'
All three individuals involved in the crash were declared deceased.
In footage of the crash aftermath, what appears to be a black Toyota Prius is seen overturned in the street with a large number of deputies and medical personnel from the fire department at the scene.
Debris from the crash littered the street and it appeared that items from inside the Toyota Prius had spilled out of the vehicle, either as a result of the impact or when crews extracted the victims.
While the intersection was cordoned off as investigators worked at the scene, it's unclear where the motorcycle came to a stop after the high-speed crash.
SBSD officials did not say whether deputies initiated a pursuit of the motorcycle driver, only that they attempted a traffic stop.
Additionally, no information was provided on the ages or genders of those killed in the violent collision.
PIO Rodriguez said that investigators with the California Highway Patrol are conducting an investigation into the incident.

San Bernardino County deputy arrested for deadly boat crash on Colorado River
A San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department deputy was arrested on Friday for a deadly boat crash on the Colorado River while allegedly intoxicated. The crash happened a little after 5:30 p.m. on Friday just south of the Needles Bridge on the river in Needles, according to a news release from SBSD. "A 22-foot Cheetah deck boat, operated by Bruce Southworth, was traveling downriver when it impacted an 18-foot Sanger vessel that was adrift on the river," the release said. The crash left the victim, 38-year-old La Verne resident Weston Stewart, with major injuries. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where he later died, deputies said. "Alcohol appears to be a factor in this incident," SBSD said. Southworth, of Yucaipa, was arrested at the scene and booked for negligent use of a watercraft while intoxicated causing injury. On Saturday, department officials confirmed that Southworth is a deputy and that he has been placed on administrative leave as a result of the crash. They say that the investigation remains ongoing and that any additional information will be provided to the San Bernardino County District Attorney's Office. It's unclear if there were any other injuries in the collision. In 2017, Southworth was one of six San Bernardino first responders awarded the Public Safety Officer Medal of Valor by President Donald Trump for their response to the 2015 workplace shooting that left 14 people dead. LA home linked to ‘TikTok cult' pastor seen in Netflix docuseries raided in sex-trafficking probe
Federal agents descended upon a California home connected to the 'TikTok Cult' pastor who was the subject of a recent Netflix documentary series Friday — as part of an investigation into sex trafficking and other criminal claims. Several people were detained after a Tujunga home partially owned by Pastor Robert Shinn was raided by agents from the FBI, IRS, US Postal Service and Department of Labor, the Los Angeles Times reported. Officials served warrants related to allegations of sex trafficking, money laundering, mail fraud, tax evasion and COVID-19-related fraud, according to the outlet. The siblings had a popular joint TikTok page when they joined 7M and had a falling out when Melanie left over concerns about Shinn's control over members, according to People, but have since reconciled. Shinn has previously denied claims that the Shenikah Church and 7M are affiliated, TV Insider reported. In 2022, he filed a defamation lawsuit against several former church members after they referred to the organization as a cult, CNN reported last year.
