July 9 (UPI) -- NBC's Wicked special, starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, will air on the network Nov. 6.
The special will broadcast ahead of the Wicked sequel, Wicked: For Good, arriving in theaters Nov. 21.
Erivo, who portrays Elphaba in the musical fantasy film, and Grande, who portrays Glinda, will helm the event, which spans two hours and broadcasts from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
The special begins at 8 p.m. EDT, and will arrive on Peacock the following day, a press release states.
The stars are set to perform fan favorites from the first feature alongside "their co-stars and other surprise guests," according to an official synopsis.
NBC suggests that the duo might preview songs from the sequel.
The films take their inspiration from the 1995 book penned by Gregory Maguire and the following Broadway adaptation (2003). The first Wicked film opened in November 2024.

Kelly Clarkson Debuts Chopped Bob Hair Transformation

Originally appeared on E! Online Kelly Clarkson has decided to break away from her long locks. When the 'Behind These Hazel Eyes' singer announced that she is returning to The Voice in Spring 2026 for season 29, she also debuted a shorter hairdo, trading her signature blonde waves for a side-swept, darker style. In a July 22 Instagram video alongside fellow returning coaches John Legend and Adam Levine, Kelly rocked the shoulder-length bob while sporting a loose-collared white button shirt, black slacks and matching black pumps. 'This time, we got some tricks up our sleeves,' the 43-year-old teased of the upcoming season. 'Y'all get ready.' And while Kelly—who shares kids River Rose, 11, and Remington Alexander, 9, with ex-husband Brandon Blackstock—seems to have ditched her longer 'do, she isn't the first member of the NBC family to opt for a chop this summer. Last month, Today With Jenna & Friends namesake Jenna Bush Hager was inspired by guest co-host Leslie Bibb's signature bob and received a dramatic haircut live on the morning show. More from E! Online Sharon Osbourne Reacts to Ozzy Osbourne Tribute After His Death Bryan Kohberger Reacts to Kaylee Goncalves' Sister Saying He'll Get "Big Ds" in Prison Ozzy Osbourne's Kids Jessica and Louis Osbourne Honor Their Dad After His Death 'This is my hair,' Jenna told the White Lotus actress while debuting her final haircut on the June 17 episode of the show. 'I feel a little…You know that '90s movie Single White Female, where you try to copy somebody to such an extent? You made this haircut so famous, and then I used your hairstylist, who is a star, to get the exact same haircut, and I'm feeling a little strange.' Although the former First Daughter may have felt a bit hesitant at first, Chris McMillan—the hairstylist behind Jenna's new 'do, who also created Jennifer Aniston's iconic Friends haircut 'The Rachel'—explained that short hair is the trend of the summer. "People are, for the summer, going for a chop above the shoulders," the stylist told E! News last month. "As dramatic as it is, it grows out. It grows out and it's going to be really healthy. You've got a nice perimeter. You get rid of the dead ends. You get rid of some bad color. You even have some layers. It's sort of like a re-diagnose of the hair." Ethan Slater debuts his 'Wicked' Lego figure, teases 'epic' sequel at Comic-Con

SAN DIEGO – "Wicked" star Ethan Slater didn't need Lego sets filled with witches, princes, woodsmen and yellow brick roads. When he was a kid, it was all about the unmarked trunk overflowing with bricks of all colors. But as an adult getting to play with his own Lego minifigure, Slater is pretty wowed. The 33-year-old Tony-nominated actor, who played Boq Woodsman in the Oscar-nominated first "Wicked," was on hand at the pop-culture festival Comic-Con, held at the San Diego Convention Center, to debut a bunch of new Lego sets inspired by the upcoming sequel "Wicked: For Good" (in theaters Nov. 21). Join our Watch Party! Sign up to receive USA TODAY's movie and TV recommendations right in your inbox Taking a peek at all the sets for the first time, Slater unsurprisingly spends the most time with the set featuring Boq and his Munchkinland home alongside toy versions of Elphaba (played in the movie by Cynthia Erivo) and Glinda (Ariana Grande). He notes that Boq's gray wardrobe is new for fans in the next movie, and points out the "Beware of the Wicked Witch" sign, part of the Wizard of Oz's propaganda against Elphaba on the side of the Lego building. "Elphaba's one of Boq's only friends, and on the side of his house is the smear campaign against her. Terrible," Slater says. As for the new movie coming soon, Slater teases an "epic conclusion" where "it's everything coming to a head." All the characters, from Elphaba and Glinda to Boq and Prince Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey), "have made these huge decisions at the very end of the first movie. How do they live with or transcend the consequences of those decisions?" Slater says. "So what we're going to see is all of these characters a little bit older. We already know them so well that to see how they grow in the second movie (creates) an even deeper connection to them." He gets a kick out of the "Wicked" wall art set, which features figures of Dorothy and her crew from "The Wizard of Oz," including Toto. "The first role ever was when I was 4 years old, I played Toto to my sister's Dorothy," Slater says. "I'm going to pretend that Toto is also a mini fig of me. It's the cutest I've ever looked." He also has fun playing with a set including Glinda using a magnifying glass. "What is she looking for with this? What is she looking for here? Does it really work? This is so Detective Glinda. That's actually a spinoff coming soon," Slater quips. Back in the day, Slater avoided big themed Lego sets in favor of diving into his "huge bucket" of Legos and "taking the world that was in my head and trying to build a version of it," he says. Yet these new "Wicked" Legos do justice to the work of him and his co-stars. "The special thing about making 'Wicked' was being in this world and it was so intricately designed," Slater says. "The work in all of these Lego sets that make it just as intricate and lets you experience it and be creative with it, it's just a really beautiful thing. It feels really true to what we did."

Grace VanderWaal stole hearts on 'AGT' nearly a decade ago. Where is the singer now?

Grace VanderWaal may not be a ukulele-strumming wunderkind anymore, but her talent sparkles just the same. The singer-songwriter and former child star stole hearts on "America's Got Talent" nearly a decade ago as the winner of Season 11. VanderWaal, whose precocious vocal prowess at age 12 earned her a Golden Buzzer vote, was featured in NBC's "Greatest Golden Buzzers!" special on Tuesday, July 22. Since her "AGT" victory, VanderWaal, now 21, has carved a multifaceted career spanning music, film, and modeling. In April, she released her sophomore album "Childstar," an emotional body of work that sees VanderWaal reckon with her upbringing in the entertainment industry. "My whole life, I could tell everyone really wanted this narrative from me, a caricature of what people think child stardom is, I think more for entertainment gratification," said VanderWaal during an April appearance on the "Zach Sang Show." "Like, the white men in suits saying, 'You got to take off your clothes to sell something, honey.' ... It's not a cartoon like that, but it does still exist, and that's the more interesting conversation because it's much more subliminal, nuanced." Here's what to know about VanderWaal's life and career: Did Grace VanderWaal win 'AGT'? VanderWaal, who taught herself to play the ukulele at age 11 by watching YouTube videos, made a splash on "AGT" when she auditioned for the reality-competition series in 2016. The young singer wowed the judges with her raspy tone and performance of the original song "I Don't Know My Name." When asked by Simon Cowell if she thought she could win the show, VanderWaal modestly replied, "I mean, miracles can happen." VanderWaal's knockout audition struck a chord with Cowell's co-judge Howie Mandel, who voted her through to the next round with a Golden Buzzer designation. "This is a show about surprises," Mandel said. "I think you are a living, beautiful, walking miracle." VanderWaal endeared herself to America week after week and emerged victorious in the Season 11 finale, beating out mentalist duo The Clairvoyants and magician Jon Dorenbos. What albums, songs is Grace VanderWaal known for? Just three months after her "AGT" win, VanderWaal released the EP "Perfectly Imperfect," which peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard 200 chart. VanderWaal followed up her musical debut with her first full-length album, 2017's "Just the Beginning," which spawned the singles "Moonlight," "Sick of Being Told" and "So Much More Than This." That same year, VanderWaal was recognized with the Rising Star Award at Billboard's Women in Music event. The singer dropped another EP, "Letters Vol. 1," in November 2019. Following a nearly six-year hiatus, VanderWaal returned to the music scene in April 2025 with the album "Childstar." During her April interview on the "Zach Sang Show," VanderWaal reflected on the album's opening track, "Proud," which details the singer's struggles with early career success and "America's sweetheart" image as a child star. "I felt that. I knew that," said VanderWaal, who added that her home life was in turmoil around the time of her "AGT" win. "'Gratitude' is a word that holds a lot of negativity to me 'cause that word tortured me for a long, long time. ... I had to completely separate myself from emotion, neglect, pain, grief — these terrible deep feelings that I was feeling — because how dare I have those feelings when people that I even love in my household right now are struggling with their life, and I just practically won a $1 million." Grace VanderWaal interview: Teen sensation opens up about songwriting struggles in single 'Stray' What movies, TV shows has Grace VanderWaal starred in? VanderWaal made her acting debut in 2020 with a starring role in "Stargirl," a Disney+ adaptation of the best-selling young adult novel of the same name. The Julia Hart-directed musical romance spawned a sequel, 2022's "Hollywood Stargirl." The singer reflected on her burgeoning acting career in a March 2020 interview with USA TODAY. "It's so different! Just because I'm not telling my own story," VanderWaal said at the time. "(At my shows), I know exactly what I want people to feel. But when you're telling someone else's story, it's more difficult to try to figure out what they would have wanted people to feel." More recently, VanderWaal appeared in Francis Ford Coppola's "Megalopolis," playing teen pop star Vesta Sweetwater in the 2024 sci-fi epic starring Adam Driver, Giancarlo Esposito, and Nathalie Emmanuel. Grace VanderWaal's first onscreen kiss in Disney's 'Stargirl' was a 'big deal' Is Grace VanderWaal a model? In September 2017, a then-13-year-old VanderWaal signed a modeling contract with IMG Models. Shortly after landing the deal, the singer was spotted attending the Marc Jacobs show at New York Fashion Week. VanderWaal has remained active in the fashion week circuit, attending New York Fashion Week in February 2019, Paris Fashion Week in March 2020 and September 2022, and a three-peat at New York Fashion Week in February 2025.
