Fans think TV show once called a masterpiece 'needs to end' after season 5 news
The fourth season of the kitchen nightmare awards darling arrived last week, with all episodes streaming just in time for a weekend binge.
Just days later, FX confirmed the Chicago sandwich joint turned haute cuisine restaurant coincidentally called The Bear will return with a new season in 2026.
By some miraculous feat of scheduling, the show's stars Jeremy Allen White, Ayo Edebiri and Ebon Moss-Bachrach will all be back for the fifth instalment — despite all having a suite of upcoming film projects.
FX Chairman John Landgraf confirmed the renewal in a statement, saying: 'The Bear continues to be a fan favorite worldwide and their response to this season — as seen through incredibly high viewership — has been as spectacular as any of its previous seasons.
'Year-in and year-out, Chris Storer, the producers, cast and crew make The Bear one of the best shows on television, and we are excited that they will continue to tell this magnificent story.'

However, the renewal news hasn't been met with the warm reception you might expect for a show once universally beloved.
After all, season one still holds a 100% 'fresh' rating on review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes and has been dubbed a 'masterpiece' by both critics and fans.
Yet when the renewal news was shared on Reddit, @RawEnergyHD declared: 'It needs to end I think. I think there's a couple loose ends but should not continue much longer tbh,' with many joining the comments to agree.
'I enjoyed season 4 a lot more than 3, but yeah it really needs to wrap it up. This is not a show that can go forever,' replied @TheSecondEikonOfFire.
TV Editor Sabrina Barr shares her take…
For me, the fire that fuels the show now feels like more of a gentle flame than a blaze. Enough to warm my heart, but not enough to give me that feeling of satisfaction I so sorely crave.
I am still invested in The Bear and the characters who I've followed since the series first launched in 2022. However, despite the fourth season boasting 10 episodes, I was left wanting more. Or at least, more fire.
I'm glad Carmy is reaching a point of finding greater peace – it's what he needs, and he deserves more balance in his life. But the chaos of The Bear is one of the reasons why people around the world fell in love with the show. And even with a literal ticking clock looming in the kitchen of the restaurant, I feel as though season four could have picked up the pace.
Responsible-Worry560 added: 'It's pretty much at the end line. Almost all the loose ends are tied at the end of season 4. Only the financial part of the restaurant is a mess now.' More Trending
However, not everyone wants the show to bow out just yet. @5am281 countered, writing: 'Or they just keep making seasons for people like myself who enjoys spending time with them?'
'I would love to see the show do this if it ends after 6 seasons,' @NoahStewie1 wrote, with a suggestion for the direction the show could go.
'Season 5 would act as the final season for the show and season 6 would be an epilogue season with each episode devoted to a character each showing us what they have moved on to and how working at the Bear taught them the skills they use at their current work.'

Oasis set list 'revealed' as band shares first look at reunion tour stage
To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video We're just hours away from the first Oasis gig in 16 years—and we now have our first look at the stage the once-feuding brothers will share. And perhaps more importantly, the set list has been 'revealed.' Noel Gallagher, 58, and younger brother Liam Gallagher, 52, haven't performed together since 2009 when they announced their split, meaning the world was, quite literally, sent into a frenzy last August when they confirmed the guns had 'fallen silent'. Tomorrow night, after a lengthy wait, the siblings will kick off their string of sold-out reunion shows at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. Noel was pictured arriving in the city yesterday, with rehearsals underway as they prepare to perform some of their biggest tunes to thousands of adoring fans who will scream every word back. With a mere 24 hours to go, the Oasis brothers took to social media with a teaser video that offered a glimpse of the stage design thanks to an epic drone light show. The footage was captured by a drone flying over the stadium, with the sky lit up in a bright 'OASIS' logo. What's more, reports suggest the full set list has been leaked, with MailOnline claiming Oasis will kick off their set with Acquiesce, which originally appeared as the B-side to Oasis' first number-one single, Some Might Say, in 1995. After the fan-favourite tune will come Morning Glory, with the first half also including tunes Cigarettes & Alcohol, Supersonic, Roll With It, and Half the World Away. As per the publication, Oasis will sing 23 songs in total, the latter part of the concert including Rock and Roll Star, The Masterplan, Don't Look Back in Anger, and, of course, Wonderwall. Ending on a high, the brothers will close with Champagne Supernova, also the closing track on the band's second studio album, having saved their most popular tunes til the end. Speaking ahead of the first show, a source hinted that Noel and Lim are still keeping some distance. For the eighth year, 150,000 festival goers will descend on Glasgow Green from 11-13 July to see the liked of 50 Cent, Gracie Abrams and Biffy Clyro, and you could be there! Metro has teamed up with Rockstar Energy presents TRNSMT Festival to offer four VIP tickets to one lucky winner. For a chance to win this massive music prize, simply enter your details here. You have until midnight on Sunday 6 July 2025 to enter using the form below. Entrants must be 18+. Good luck! T&Cs apply*. Click here if form is not loading. * Open to legal residents of Great Britain (excluding Northern Ireland) aged 18 or over. Promotion opens at 18:01 BST on 2 July 2025 and closes at 23:59 BST on 6 July 2025. The promotion is free to enter; however internet access is required. Entrant must visit and when prompted by the form, submit their name, email, telephone number, date of birth and postcode. Acceptance of the terms and conditions is necessary to enter the promotion. There will be one (1) winner. The winner will win four (4) VIP weekend tickets for TRNSMT Festival, running from 11th – 13th July 2025 at Glasgow Green, in Glasgow ('Prize'). Proof of age and photographic ID are required for entry for all guests (the guests of the winner must be at least 16 years old at the time of entry). The Prize, including entry and attendance at TRSNMT festival, is subject to and governed by the Promoter's full ticket terms and conditions. 1 prize available. 1 entry per person. Full T&Cs apply, see here. 'It's all gearing up now,' they began. 'Technical rehearsals for the band started on Monday, and then Noel and Liam joined them a couple of days later. 'But Liam barely even stayed for the first eight songs before leaving the rehearsals early, and Noel continued on his own.' Nevertheless, fans are absolutely beside themselves with excitement, as the responses to their X teaser video make clear. 'What a time to be alive', declared @SoyNatuVA. Praying that one lucky ticket holder will pull through with a live stream, @mialovesoasis wrote: 'so so excited for tomorrow and i'm not even going'. @DlRTYSHlRT added that those in attendance tomorrow will be 'witnessing history', while @adele_liam told the pair: 'Welcome back I missed you sm'. Acquiesce Morning Glory Some Might Say Cigarettes & Alcohol Fade Away Supersonic Roll With It Bring It On Down Talk Tonight Half the World Away Little by Little D'You Know What I Mean Stand By Me Cast No Shadow Hello Slide Away Whatever Live Forever Rock and Roll Star The Masterplan Don't Look Back in Anger Wonderwall Champagne Supernova The official Oasis account previously shared further details about the structure of the night for the first tour show. Doors will open at 5pm before support acts Cast and Richard Ashcroft perform at 6pm and 7pm, respectively. Oasis will take to the stage at 8:15pm with a 10:30pm curfew, promising over two hours of music. The group will play 19 shows in the UK and Ireland this year before heading across Europe, with tickets sold to 900,000 fans. However, to say it's been smooth sailing getting here would be false. At the end of May, it was claimed that Noel and Liam still hadn't rehearsed together, with Liam also avoiding studio time with fellow performers Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs, Gem Archer, Andy Bell, and Mikey Rowe. Instead, Liam, who is set to become a grandfather for the first time in a matter of months, has been chilling at his £4million mansion in the South of France with his girlfriend, Debbie Gwyther. Oh, and he's also been tweeting… Just this week, the singer offended a large number of South Korean Oasis fans by tweeting the phrase 'chingchong'. 'Chingchong' (believed to have originated in the 19th century) is understood as an offensive or derogatory phrase that's used to mock or denigrate East Asian languages. While usually intended to insult people who speak Chinese languages, it has also been applied towards languages and speakers from Japan and South Korea. Liam deleted the post shortly after and responded nonchalantly with 'Whatever' when one user warned he might get cancelled. It's believed Oasis will generate a whopping £400million in ticket sales and add-ons, just from their initial dates. As for their take-home pay, Noel and Liam are thought to be getting £50million each. More Trending But for those gutted to have missed out on tickets, have no fear, because after a disastrous first sale, the group announced last week that more tickets could become available. 'Oasis promoters may be able to release a very limited number of additional tickets for sale once final sight lines are checked and the production is fine tuned,' a statement read. 'These final production releases will happen over the coming days. If you are an Oasismynet member, keep an eye on your inbox for an email from your regular Oasismynet or Ticketmaster correspondence address. 'I'm the new Superman – here's how I spent my last hour of anonymity'
To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video What's that in the sky? Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's a new Superman movie that's about to land in cinemas across the UK. Superman is the first film in James Gunn's new shared superhero universe and hopes to usher in a new era for Clark Kent and his super friends. Which brings us to the new Superman himself, David Corenswet. The 31-year-old had just one hour between finding out he'd scored the biggest job of his life and the world finding out. So, how did he spend it? 'Oh, I just played solitaire by myself and panicked quietly,' David laughed while speaking to Metro about that fateful s60 minutes on the red carpet at London's Superman Fan Event. 'No, I had the opportunity to tell about six or seven people who I was close to, and just kind of relished in this one hour where I had a big secret that nobody else knew about,' he continued. 'It's a rare moment in life, so I tried to be present with it, and not be too overwhelmed.' To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video 'I got to tell my wife and a couple of family members, and then just sat in a chair and waited for the news to break.' Thankfully, once David's not-so-secret identity had been exposed, he could rely on other actors who've slipped into Superman's red Speedos for advice. 'I was lucky enough to exchange letters with Tyler Hoechlin and Henry Cavill, two fellas who have played Superman before me,' David explained. 'They said, 'You know, there's not much advice that we can give. You know, you sort of have to do your own thing.' 'But it was really wonderful to get words of encouragement from them, and then to be able to write to them and talk about how appreciative I was of the way that they had stewarded the character in their time. That was a special experience.' Superman will eschew the traditional origin story and instead introduce us to a Clark Kent (David Corenswet) who's been battling bad guys for years and is already in a relationship with Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan). More Trending Unfortunately, this means Superman has had time to make more than a few enemies, including Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult), who has a plan to bring the Man of Tomorrow down to Earth. Will he succeed? Well, you'll have to fly over to your local cinema to find out. Superman soars into cinemas on July 11. Got a story? TV fans can now binge all 6 episodes of 'thrilling' action series
Warning: Spoilers for Ironheart, you have been warned… Looking for something to watch now you've binged The Bear and seen off Squid Game? Well, you're in luck! Six episodes of an incredible new action show are available to watch now on Disney Plus. The show is called Ironheart and it's the latest chapter in the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now, if you're a fan of the MCU, you'll no doubt know what Ironheart is about, but if you're not up to date on what's happening on Earth-616, allow me to explain. Set after the events of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Ironheart follows genius gadgeteer Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) as she teams up with the mysterious Parker Robbins (Anthony Ramos) in the hope of scraping together enough cash to build a new suit of Iron Man-style armour. However, Parker isn't what he seems, and before long, Riri finds herself torn between the mystical and the mechanical. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video When the series first dropped, there was an outpouring of celebration from fans who were thrilled by Riri's adventures. On Reddit, CharlesFluidSmith said, '[The] show is fantastic. Can say without hyperbole, it's my favourite Disney+ show.' AdRevolutionary4061 was similarly enthusiastic about Riri's adventures, posting 'Loving this show a ton already!', a feeling echoed by saintnick524, who wrote, 'This show is amazing!! I really enjoy it.' It was Xekshek33 who perhaps put it best, however, when they wrote: 'This show is a banger'. The delight wasn't exclusive to Reddit either. On X, @jjmastermind claimed: 'I'm hooked and there [are] only 3 episodes/one week left'. @captaincupkicks meanwhile said: 'I LOVED the first 3 episodes of #Ironheart! It's a gorgeous show with fun action, real stakes, and an exciting take on legacy… Can't wait to see the rest next week!' @KeyWatkins51299 felt similarly, adding: 'The first 3 episodes of #Ironheart were truly something iconic…This is a truly unique MCU series, and I am loving it so far. Can't wait for next week.' Metro's own Zac Haniff sat down with Ironheart executive producer Ryan Coogler to get the latest on the MCU … Everyone knows that the MCU is building to the Secret Wars, but Marvel Studios already has an eye on the future and the end of the Multiverse Saga. And do you know what's coming next? Why it's Marvel's merry mutants, the X-Men of course! More excitingly, plans are already in the works for the film with Ryan telling Metro that Jake Schreier (who just made Thunderbolts) will direct the X-Men reboot. Let's hope Ryan had permission from Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige to tell us that… Since then, however, the show's won over more and more fans, especially in the back half of the season, where Marvel finally introduced a highly anticipated villain. In the final episodes, we met the devilish Mephisto – the Marvel Universe's Satan stand-in – played by Sacha Baron Cohen, and it's fair to say he left one hell (pun intended) of an impression on viewers. 'Arghhh, Human Mephisto in Ironheart… this just became top 3 Marvel TV!!! #Ironheart,' wrote @Onlykayoo on X. [We're finally getting Mephisto,' added @tonisattorney. 'We're so back and I will be expecting a season 2.' More Trending Meanwhile, @paullydoughnuts declaredthat 'Ironheart was a good show, better than most of the shows they have been making… 100% better than WandaVision.' If that doesn't convince you to watch the show, you might be pleased to hear that Ironheart currently has a rather robust 86% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes. Sadly, the audience score is a lot lower at just 53% but it's worth noting the series was review-bombed before it was released, making that measure a little unreliable. Ironheart is available to watch now on Disney Plus. Got a story?
