Infomina's FY25 earnings fall nearly 36pct, revenue drops nearly 13pct
This was primarily due to lower revenue contribution from its design and delivery of technology infrastructure solutions segment, as well as a RM10 million provision for doubtful debts, Infomina said.
The company's net profit for the financial year ended May 31, 2025 fell 36 per cent to RM21 million from RM33 million a year ago.
Revenue of the technology solutions provider dropped 12.6 per cent to RM196.7 million from RM225 million previously.
For the fourth quarter, Infomina reported RM53.4 million revenue and a net loss of RM3.1 million.
Its chief executive officer cum managing director Yee Chee Meng said the headline profitability in FY25 was affected by a non-cash provision and foreign exchange losses.
Yee said the company recorded improved margins, with revenue just under RM200 million and normalised pre-tax profit of RM40.4 million.
Infomina paid its maiden dividend of 1.2 sen per share, reflecting its strong operating cash flow and sound fundamentals.
"We are encouraged by the positive progress in Japan, where our local team continues to gain traction with key clients.
"We believe Japan has the potential to become Infomina's largest overseas market in the coming years," he said in a statement.
Yee added that contracts across Hong Kong, Thailand and Taiwan continue to support its recurring income base and enhance earnings visibility.
Beyond core mainframe software business, he said the company is making steady progress in developing artificial intelligence capabilities through Infomina AI Sdn Bhd.
The company secured two collaborations recently, which represent important pillars for expansion into fintech, proptech and data services.
He said the traction seen in both API and AI-driven solutions reinforces its confidence in the long-term scalability of this segment.

Postponing SST expansion would jeopardise fiscal stability, says Anwar
KUALA LUMPUR: Any proposal to defer the expansion of the Sales and Service Tax (SST) would result in the government falling short of its revenue targets, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Anwar, who is also Finance Minister, said such a move would negatively impact the government's fiscal position and its ability to meet its responsibilities to the people. "The revision of the sales tax rate and the expansion of the SST scope, which took effect on July 1, is expected to generate additional revenue of RM5 billion over the six months of 2025 and RM10 billion for the full year of 2026," he said in a written parliamentary reply. He was responding to Lim Guan Eng (PH–Bagan), who had asked whether the SST expansion could be postponed until issues related to tariffs and the current economic slowdown are addressed. Lim also requested a breakdown of the additional tax revenue expected, specifically the share borne by citizens versus non-citizens. In reply, Anwar said it was not possible to accurately determine such a breakdown, as the national revenue collection system does not categorise contributions based on the taxpayer's citizenship. He said that the government was acutely aware of public concern over the rising cost of living. "Nonetheless, the government must also ensure that Malaysia's fiscal space remains sustainable, in order to finance its social and development obligations so that the benefits can continue to be channelled to the rakyat. "It is widely acknowledged that taxation is the most crucial source of revenue for any country. However, Malaysia currently has one of the lowest tax-to-GDP ratios in the region, at around 12 per cent, compared to the 15 per cent recommended by the World Bank to ensure the long-term sustainability of economic development," he said. The revised SST rates under Budget 2025 took effect on July 1. According to the Finance Ministry, the measure aims to bolster the country's fiscal position by increasing revenue and broadening the tax base. Under the updated structure, selected non-essential and luxury goods are taxed at rates between five and 10 per cent. Staple items such as sardines, tuna and mackerel (kembung) remain exempt, while premium imported seafood such as salmon, cod and king crab are subject to a five per cent SST. Local fruits are also exempt from the sales tax, whereas imported fruits incur a five per cent rate.

Bridal shop ordered to refund RM2,850 to customer
Published on: Thursday, July 24, 2025 Published on: Thu, Jul 24, 2025 By: Crystal E Hermenegildus Text Size: Kota Kinabalu: The Consumer Claims Tribunal has ordered a bridal shop to refund RM2,850 to a customer after ruling that the service provider failed to perform any part of its contractual obligations. Tribunal President Salmi Zalinah Abdul Rahim issued the decision following a hearing involving the claimant, Nicole Ooi Wei Shan, and the respondent, Delove Bridal Selection East Malaysia. According to the case facts, on December 31, 2023, the claimant entered into a contract with the respondent for a pre-wedding photography package and paid a deposit of RM3,000. The package was stated to be valid for three years. However, on May 5, 2025, the claimant informed the respondent via WhatsApp that due to personal issues, she and her partner would no longer be proceeding with the wedding photos and requested a refund of the deposit. The same message was also sent in English the following day. Despite the request, the respondent insisted that the deposit was non-refundable, even though none of the agreed services had been provided. The claimant proceeded to file a claim for the full refund amount of RM3,000. In response, the respondent argued that the deposit was part of a binding agreement and that the cancellation was made for personal reasons, not due to any fault on their part. The respondent also filed a counterclaim for RM10,000, citing inconvenience, disruption, and administrative burden caused by the claim. During the hearing, the respondent's staff member, Ivylyana Edin, confirmed that no wedding photographs were taken but said reminders were sent to the claimant via WhatsApp. Salmi, in her ruling, cited Section 17(5) and (6) of the Consumer Protection Act 1999, which allows consumers to cancel a future services contract at the point the cancellation is communicated to the supplier — in this case, via WhatsApp. Under Section 17(2) of the same Act, the Tribunal found the claimant was entitled to a refund after deducting 5 per cent of the full contract price, amounting to RM2,850. The Tribunal rejected the respondent's RM10,000 counterclaim and ordered that the awarded sum be paid to the claimant within 14 days. * Follow us on our official WhatsApp channel and Telegram for breaking news alerts and key updates! * Do you have access to the Daily Express e-paper and online exclusive news?
