Over 3,700 families affected by Bising so far —OCD
In an interview on Super Radyo dzBB, OCD officer-in-charge Bernardo Rafaelito Alejandro IV said the affected families are equivalent to 13,006 individuals from the Ilocos Region (Region I), Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), and Cagayan Valley (Region II).
However, Alejandro noted that the number may increase since the latest data is an initial report from the OCD's field offices.
He added that there have been no reported casualties so far.
'Minor in a way itong Bising, but ito naman tinitingnan 'yung ating paghahanda dahil pumasok na itong typhoon season at tuloy-tuloy na itong pag-prepare at paghanda,' Alejandro said.
(Bising has a minor effect on the country, but we're looking into our preparation since we're in the typhoon season, and so we continue to prepare and be ready.)
He added that there was some flooding in Regions I and II, and CAR, but it is currently subsiding.
There were also five reported impassable road sections, but Alejandro said clearing operations are ongoing.
He added that Bising also caused partial damage to houses.
On Friday, Bising exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
It developed into a severe tropical storm on Saturday night and is expected to reach typhoon category on Sunday.
PAGASA said Danas may re-enter PAR on Sunday night or early Monday morning briefly, and make landfall over mainland China on Tuesday.
Danas' trough is affecting Extreme Northern Luzon on Sunday, bringing cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Batanes and Babuyan Islands. Moderate to at times heavy rains may possibly result in flash floods or landslides.
At 3 a.m. Sunday, Danas was located 400 km west of Itbayat, Batanes, packing maximum sustained winds of 110 km/h near the center and with gustiness of up to 135 km/h.
Danas is moving north northeastward slowly toward Taiwan. —KG, GMA Integrated News

Bising exits PAR anew, weakens as severe tropical storm
Tropical Cyclone Bising (international name: Danas) again exited the Philippine area of responsibility as it downgraded into a severe tropical storm Monday morning, state weather bureau PAGASA said. Ambuklao, Binga Dams near exceeding normal water level, release water
Some gates have been opened in Ambuklao and Binga Dams in Benguet as the reservoirs are near to exceed their normal high water level, state weather bureau PAGASA said on Monday. In its 8 a.m. update, PAGASA said Ambuklao Dam has one gate with 0.3 meters opening releasing water at 47.23 cubic meters per second. The water level in Ambuklao Dam was at 751.39 meters, which is close to its normal high water level at 752 meters. Meanwhile, Binga Dam has two gates with 0.8 meters opening releasing water at 113.87 cubic meters per second. The water level in Binga Dam was at 573.45 meters, which is also close to its normal high water level at 575 meters. Meanwhile, PAGASA said the water level in the following dams increased on Monday: Pantabangan - from 190.46 to 190.75 meters Magat - from 183.50 to 184 meters Caliraya - from 287.23 to 288.01 meters Typhoon Bising (international name: Danas) is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Monday morning, according to PAGASA. 38 Luzon areas flooded due to Bising, Habagat —OCD
The Office of Civil Defense on Monday said 38 areas in Luzon were flooded due to the rains brought by Typhoon Bising and the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat. OCD officer-in-charge Assistant Secretary Bernardo Rafaelito Alejandro IV said that no casualties or missing persons have been reported so far. 'No major incident. No major floodings in a way as compared to 'yung mga previous bagyo natin, yung 'KLMNOP,' Alejandro told Dobol B TV in an interview. Alejandro was referring to the consecutive tropical cyclones that hit the country in 2024—Kristine, Leon, Marce, Nila, Ofel, and Pepito. 'So very minor pa lang ang epekto nito. Parang practice lang,' he added. The OCD is also monitoring the situation in Pangasinan as the Agno River may swell and cause flooding in nearby areas. According to Alejandro, assistance was sought to cover 235 families in Narvacan, Ilocus Sur.
