AEW star MVP has revealed his plans for his in-ring retirement. The veteran performer and manager of The Hurt Syndicate stated he has a "maximum of two years left" as an active competitor.
The 51-year-old hopes to conclude his nearly two-decade-long career with a final retirement tour. This would allow him to say goodbye to fans in different cities.
MVP On His In-Ring Future
The former United States Champion is currently managing the AEW World Tag Team Champions, Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin. He is also a mentor to the fourth member of The Hurt Syndicate, MJF.

Speaking on the Marking Out podcast, MVP discussed his timeline for stepping away from the ring. He explained his desire for a proper farewell run.
"At this stage of the game for me, like, I don't have to do it. I just still enjoy doing it. When I get to the point that I can't do it effectively or if I'm taking baseball slide bumps, then it's time to go. I plan on ending this run here pretty soon anyway. I want to have my last match. I want to have the retirement tour, let me go around, 'Hey, this is the last time MVP will be wrestling in your city.'"

A Two-Year Window
While his in-ring career is winding down, he has no plans to leave the wrestling business. He sees himself continuing as a manager for many years to come.
"I'd like to think I got maybe another 10 as a manager, maybe 15 depending on my age and health. As far as in the ring, I got like maybe a year or two left max, man."
While he primarily serves as a manager on AEW television, MVP has remained active as a wrestler on the independent circuit. His last match was a victory over Al Snow in May 2025.
MVP debuted on WWE SmackDown in 2006 with his "Ballin'" persona. He became a two-time United States Champion, with his first reign lasting an impressive 343 days, and also won the WWE Tag Team Championship with Matt Hardy.
After leaving the company, he returned in 2020 to form the dominant and highly successful faction, The Hurt Business. As their manager, he led Bobby Lashley to a WWE Championship victory, cementing a career resurgence before his latest run ended.

Another WWE Injury Plagues 'Monday Night Raw' Brand

Another WWE Injury Plagues 'Monday Night Raw' Brand originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The injury bug has plagued WWE as of late, and another "Raw" talent is out of action. On Monday's episode of the red brand, Chad Gable started a backstage brawl with Penta. The fight ended with Penta targeting Gable's arm with The Sacrifice submission. WWE staff broke up the scuffle, and Gable was on the ground in pain. Advertisement As it turns out, the segment may have been a way to write the current WWE Speed Champion off TV. reports that Gable has suffered a legitimate, undisclosed injury. Since details on the injury are scarce, there is currently no word on the timeline for Gable's recovery. Gable has also been performing under the El Grande Americano mask. The gimmick has led to more TV time for the seasoned veteran. He had been involved in a storyline with several lucha libre stars, and some fans speculated that the payoff would take place at "SummerSlam." Gable captured the WWE Speed title donning the El Grande Americano attire. If Gable ends up being stripped of the gold, it may be an indicator of the severity of his injury. His most recent match aired on June 17, and it was a successful title defense against Berto of Legado del Fantasma. Advertisement WWE has already been dealing with two key injuries, and both impacted stars perform on "Monday Night Raw." Liv Morgan suffered a dislocated shoulder and will be out of action for several months. Morgan's onscreen boyfriend, Dominik Mysterio, remains on TV, but he also isn't medically cleared for in-ring action. Huge 'WWE Night of Champions 2025' Match Postponed Due to Injury

Huge 'WWE Night of Champions 2025' Match Postponed Due to Injury originally appeared on Athlon Sports. WWE has revealed that a big match previously scheduled for "Night of Champions 2025" is now off the card. Advertisement The initial plan was for Dominik Mysterio to defend the WWE Intercontinental Championship against AJ Styles in Riyadh on Saturday. During Monday's episode of "Raw," Adam Pearce informed Styles that Mysterio isn't medically cleared for the match. Styles was promised a title shot once Mysterio is ready to return to action. Mysterio hasn't competed since the June 9 episode of "Monday Night Raw." He lost a fatal four-way King of the Ring match featuring Sami Zayn, who ended up winning the match, Bron Breakker, and Penta. Mysterio remains involved in backstage segments on "Raw." He even appeared on TV during Monday's episode of the red brand. It would seem that Mysterio's injury isn't serious enough for WWE to strip him of the IC title. While Liv Morgan won't be featured on "Raw" for the foreseeable future, Mysterio figures to be an important part of the red brand as his storyline girlfriend recovers from an injury of her own. Advertisement WWE is in the midst of a storyline where Mysterio's faction, The Judgment Day, is on the verge of imploding. Balor has seemingly been tearing the group apart ever since Mysterio pinned him at "WrestleMania 41." Balor has introduced Roxanne Perez to the group, which has created tension. Morgan's tag team partner, Raquel Rodriguez, hasn't taken too kindly to Perez, and Mysterio has been uncomfortable with "The Prodigy's" advances. Time will tell how long it'll take before Mysterio is back in the ring. Related: 'WWE Raw' Results: Who Advances to King and Queen of the Ring Finals at 'Night of Champions 2025?' Major WWE Contract Update on 'Raw' Star Karrion Kross

Major WWE Contract Update on 'Raw' Star Karrion Kross originally appeared on Athlon Sports. A huge update has surfaced on the WWE contract of Karrion Kross. Kross has developed a following on social media. While some argue that the former "NXT" titleholder hasn't been utilized to his full potential, he has been able to snag consistent airtime in backstage segments. In recent months, he's been involved in a side program with Sami Zayn. Advertisement Fightful reports that Kross is currently in his contract year with WWE. Kross' deal is expected to expire this summer if there is no renewal. At this time, it's unclear whether or not WWE plans to offer Kross a contract extension. Karrion Kross involved in a singles match during an episode of "WWE Friday Night SmackDown."(via WWE) There has been some debate over whether or not Kross' rise in popularity is genuine. Kross has said that his own merchandise has sold out several times thanks to the support of fans. While some feel Kross has organically raised his stock, others, such as Voices of Wrestling, believe the hype has been overblown. Ultimately, WWE will make a decision on whether or not Kross' social media activity is enough to keep him on the roster. Perhaps it's good news for Kross that he's in the midst of a storyline with Zayn. For months, Kross has been trying to get Zayn to show his dark side to WWE fans. Advertisement While Zayn has had success as a heel in the past, he's currently a top babyface on the "Monday Night Raw" brand. Zayn has vowed to become a world champion one day, but Kross doesn't believe the longtime veteran can do it.
