'Lifting Ban From RSS Was A Mistake': Congress Chief Kharge's Son Priyank Stirs Controversy
Kharge, the son of Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, said the RSS, ideological parent organisation of the BJP, never accepted the Constitution and now they want to change it
Karnataka minister Priyank Kharge on Tuesday said that it was a mistake of Congress to lift the ban on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). His remarks came after RSS General Secretary Dattattreya Hosabale recently called for the removal of the words 'socialist" and 'secular" from the Indian constitution.
Kharge, the son of Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, said the RSS, ideological parent organisation of the BJP, never accepted the Constitution and now they want to change it.
'We have opposed the ideology of the RSS in the past also and had banned them two-three times. Lifting the ban was our (Congress') mistake. They fell at our feet, saying they won't indulge in anti-national activities. There are documents for this," the minister said, as reported by Deccan Herald.
When asked if Congress will ban the RSS if it comes to power at the Centre, Kharge said, 'We will see. It's not the first time they will be been banned, right? Didn't Sardar Patel ban them? Then they went and fell at his feet. They pleaded no, no, we will follow the law of the land. After that, Indira Gandhiji banned it again. They went and said no, no we will cooperate. We will abide by the laws of the land. There cannot be one law of the land for the rest of the country and for one organisation like this."
Dubbing the RSS 'anti-national", Kharge further said, instead of tough questions to their political outfit– the BJP– about job loss, the Pahalgam terror attack, India's external affairs, the RSS is sowing 'seeds of communal hatred" in society.
'Very clearly, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar in his last speech has defined anti-nationals as those who create animosity by bringing in caste, and those people who are going to impede the social, political and economic progress of the country are the real anti-national. Those people who sow the seeds of communal hatred in society are anti-national. So who's doing that right now? They burned the constitution and said that we want the Manusmriti as our constitution. Didn't they say that?" he asked.
'Change his name to 'Mungerilal ke haseen sapne'. They have been in power before and tried many times, even banned the RSS twice. What was the result? We suffered heavy defeats in elections, and even now, we keep facing losses. I wonder what these 'haseen sapne' are, that our government — which is not coming to power — will ban the RSS. If you have the courage, you have governments in Karnataka, Himachal, and Telangana. Why can't you do it there? Because the Supreme Court has clearly stated that you cannot ban any cultural organisation like this," he said.
Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) National Spokesperson Vinod Bansal called Kharge's remark 'absurd."
'This is not the first time he has made such a controversial statement. He has previously made several absurd remarks against Sanatan Dharma," he added.

"PM Modi always on tour...should've country tourism ambassadors," says Sanjay Raut
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], July 2 (ANI): Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said he is always on tour and should have a tour and travel ministry. Speaking to reporters, Raut said, 'PM Modi is always on tour, he should have a tour and travel ministry, and should have country tourism ambassadors and should tell in Mann ki Baat what to eat in which country to go...' Raut also criticised the Modi government over Pakistan's growing influence at international forums. He said, 'Ever since PM Modi came, Jaishankar came, Amit Shah came, we could not prove this and today an important post was given to Pakistan in the United Nations. The Army Chief was invited to dinner at the White House.' He questioned the government for ignoring serious domestic issues, including farmers' suicides and recent terror attacks, saying, 'Does Modi Ji know that 1000 farmers died by suicide in Maharashtra in three months? Till now, they have been unable to find the killers in the Pahalgam attack. Air India is finished. They are not able to find out what happened to the plane that crashed in Ahmedabad, and Modi Ji is roaming abroad; this is the condition of the country.' Meanwhile, on the relationship between the RSS and BJP, Raut said, 'RSS and BJP are brothers. If RSS wants, then it can teach the BJP a lesson. The BJP that is seen today is based on the strength of RSS workers.' He further demanded that Prime Minister Modi question US President Donald Trump over his stance towards India. 'Prime Minister Modi should ask Trump what kind of drama you are doing with India. There is no one in the United Nations who can raise our voice. The way President Trump is trying to give power to Pakistan is a danger for India in the near future,' he added. (ANI)

Ajoy Kumar's
New Delhi [India], July 2 (ANI): The Sikkim unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday strongly opposed the 'outrageous and ignorant' statement made by Indian National Congress (INC) leader Ajoy Kumar, in which he referred to Sikkim as a 'neighbouring country' during a press conference at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters. In a post on social media X, the BJP Sikkim unit wrote, 'The BJP Sikkim unit vehemently denounces the outrageous and ignorant statement made by INC leader Ajoy Kumar, who shockingly referred to Sikkim as a 'neighbouring country' during his press conference at AICC headquarters today.' The party further in their post wrote that it was 'utterly deplorable' for a former IPS officer and Member of Parliament to display such an 'appalling disregard' for India's history and geography. The BJP condemned the remarks and, in its post, further wrote that Congress should 'educate' its leaders to prevent such disgraceful blunders. 'It is utterly deplorable that a former IPS officer and Member of Parliament displays such appalling disregard for India's history and geography. The Congress party must immediately educate its leaders to prevent such disgraceful blunders. This shameful remark deserves the strongest possible condemnation,' the post further read. Meanwhile, BJP leader Shehzad Poonawalla also criticised Congress on the remarks made by Ajoy Kumar and stated that the party was following the 'footsteps of Jinnah.' Poonawalla further stated that the Congress party wanted 'tukde tukde' of Bharat, stating that the remarks made by Kumar were an insult to the entire Northeast India. 'Congress is following the footsteps of Jinnah. It is a 'Jinnahwadi' party. Just like Jinnah wanted that there should be an Islamic state and division of India, the Congress party advocates for a Sharia Islamic state in some parts, and it wants the 'tukde tukde' of Bharat... Today, the statement made by Ajoy Kumar that Sikkim is not an integral part of India and is, in fact, a neighbouring nation, shows how he has insulted not just Sikkim but the entire northeast. Congress has always been against the Northeast,' Poonawalla told ANI. (ANI)
