Police set up crime scene at racetrack as driver dies in horror crash
Emergency services were called to Sydney Motorsport Park at Eastern creek after the incident at around 8pm on Saturday night during the NSW Motor Race Championship.
Paramedics treated the driver, aged 53, but he died at the scene.
Police have established a crime scene and will investigate the crash.
'About 8.10pm today (Saturday 26 July 2025), emergency services were called to a motorsports park on Ferrers Road, Eastern Creek, following reports of a single-vehicle crash during a sanctioned race event,' NSW Police said in a statement.
'Officers attached to Blacktown Police Area Command have established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the crash.'
Officers will prepare a report for the coroner and Motorsport Australia has been notified, police said.
The crash occurred during the third race of the NSW Supersports category, which was red-flagged, with the remainder of the meeting cancelled, according to the motorsport news website Speedcafe.
'We extend our condolences to the family and friends of the competitor, and to the officials and first responders at the scene,' Motorsport Australia said in a statement.
'Motorsport Australia's critical incident plan is in action, and staff are working with NSW Police and the venue following this incident.'

There were no passengers in the cars and all three drivers were wearing their seat belts, police said. The air bags in McMahon's car and the BMW deployed. McMahon stepped down as WWE's CEO in 2022 amid a company investigation into sexual misconduct allegations. He also resigned as executive chairman of the board of directors of TKO Group Holdings, the parent company of WWE, last year, a day after a former WWE employee filed a sexual abuse lawsuit against him. McMahon has denied the allegations. The lawsuit remains pending. McMahon bought what was then the World Wrestling Federation in 1982 and transformed it from a regional wrestling company into a worldwide phenomenon. Besides running the company with his wife, Linda, who is now the U.S. education secretary, he also performed at WWE events as himself.

M3 closed in both directions after ‘multi-vehicle crash' as drivers face long delays
A MAJOR motorway has been closed in both directions, following a "multi-vehicle crash". Emergency services, including an air ambulance, raced to the crash site on the M3 in Surrey following the incident. 2 2 The road is closed westbound between J3 (Bagshott Interchange) and J4 (Frimley Interchange). National Highways have also been forced to close the road heading eastbound too. That closure stretches between between J3 (Lightwater) and J4 (Frimley). Traffic is being held in both directions, while emergency services respond to a "multi-vehicle collision". Huge queues of cars have been spotted, with drivers getting out of their vehicles while they wait. However, getting out of your vehicle while in a traffic jam can be extremely dangerous and could lead to another accident. According to National Highways, Surrey Police, Surrey Fire & Rescue and the South East Coast Ambulance Service are all in attendance at the site of the crash. Also, an Air Ambulance and National Highways Traffic Officers have been dispatched to the scene. Following the closure, National Highways urged drivers to reconsider their planned routes and to allow for extra journey time. Drivers have been advised to leave the M3 southbound at Junction 3 to join the A322 dual carriage way. Then, after following the A30 London Road, drivers can join the A331 before rejoining the M3 once again.
