CelcomDigi tower in Raub vandalised, network disruption reported
State Communications and Multimedia, Youth, Sports and Non-Governmental Organisation Committee chairman Fadzli Mohamad Kamal said preliminary investigations by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) found the tower served as a 'collector' linking eight other transmission towers.
The affected towers are located in Kampung Gesing, Sungai Ruan, Kampung Jelu, Bukit Pampong, Kampung Chendra Chinchin, Kampung Tanjung Putus, Kampung Temau, and Kampung Gali Hilir.
"Due to this act of vandalism, many components were damaged and are no longer functional, requiring complete replacement depending on stock availability.
"As an interim measure, CelcomDigi is working to reactivate the damaged towers in stages," he said in a Facebook post last night.

Man loses over RM300,000 to online investment scam
ALOR STAR: A company director lost more than RM300,000 after falling victim to an investment scam promoted through an online advertisement in mid-May. Kedah Commercial Crime Investigation Department chief, Superintendent Loi Yew Lik said the 44-year-old man lodged a police report at 1.04pm Monday after realising he was a victim of an investment scam. "On May 11, the complainant had come across a Facebook advertisement offering an investment opportunity and later contacted several individuals via WhatsApp. "The suspects promised daily returns of 10 per cent, and from May 14 to June 17, the victim transferred a total of RM302,100," he said in a statement today. According to Loi, the complainant made 18 transactions to three different accounts but became suspicious and realised he had been scammed when the suspects requested additional funds for him to withdraw both the promised returns and his capital. "The public is advised to verify with the police before making any suspicious transactions. KUALA LUMPUR: A video of a motorcyclist stopping at a zebra crossing in the city, only to be honked at by another driver has drawn attention to road manners and the importance of respecting pedestrian crossings in the city. In a video posted by Facebook user driving4dummies, a short reel depicted the motorcyclist giving way to pedestrians before being confronted by a driver. The driver, driving a Proton X50 pulls up beside him, winds down the window, and questions why he stopped, claiming it was unnecessary. "He then repeatedly asks whether he had hit the motorcyclist, suggesting there was no need to give way unless contact was made," he said. Despite the confrontation, the user remains composed and explains that vehicles are legally required to stop when pedestrians are waiting to cross. The driver, however, continues to press the point before eventually driving off.
