Kevin Feige teases Tom Holland will become 'proper Spider-Man' in next movie instalment, Entertainment News
The 29-year-old actor is set to suit up as the Web-Head once again for the upcoming Marvel blockbuster, and the Marvel Studios boss has now said Holland's Wall-Crawler will be his own fully-fledged superhero by Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Speaking at a roundtable interview for The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Feige said: "I think there's a promise at the end of No Way Home, that for as sad as it is that Peter is forgotten by everyone in his life, we are seeing for the first time in the Tom Holland Spider-Man stories him being a proper Spider-Man.
"Him being by himself, dedicated to saving the city, and dealing with — for lack of better terms — street-level crime, as opposed to world-ending events."
The Marvel head also explained what direction Spider-Man: Brand New Day director Destin Daniel Cretton would be taking with Jon Bernthal's The Punisher in the movie.
Feige said: "So when you do that, you say, okay, who are the other street-level characters that we've never seen him interact with? And of course, I love that The Punisher started in a Spider-Man comic.
"That great cover ... I don't want to say too much, but Destin — I will say too much — Destin is doing an amazing job right now on that movie, which starts shooting very soon.
"And he's got eight or nine comic covers up on his wall in his art department that he is bringing to life in this movie, which is super cool."
As well as Holland and Bernthal, Spider-Man: Brand New Day — which is slated to hit screens on July 31, 2026 — will see the return of Zendaya as Michelle 'MJ' Jones-Watson and Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds.
Stranger Things actress Sadie Sink and The Bear's Liza Colón-Zayas have also been cast in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, though it has not been confirmed what roles they will be playing in the film.
Although plot details about Spider-Man: Brand New Day are being kept under wraps, Mark Ruffalo's Hulk is rumoured to be the main antagonist of the movie.
Looking to the future, Feige teased he wanted Spider-Man to cross paths with the Fantastic Four in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), especially Johnny Storm (Joseph Quinn).
He said: "We didn't do chemistry reads, but whenever we cast it is with that blue sky dream in mind of one day being able to do that.
"And that's a great example. That's one of the key relationships in Marvel comics is Johnny Storm and Peter Parker. And we've never been able to come close to it before and now it is in the realm of possibility. That's exciting. That gets me up in the morning."
Recently, Holland teased Spider-Man: Brand New Day would feel like a "breath of fresh air", much like his original 2017 film Spider-Man: Homecoming.
He told Flip Your Wig: "It's gonna feel like making [Spider-Man: Homecoming] again. It's been such a long time that I've done it that it's gonna feel like a breath of fresh air.
"And I think the fans are gonna be over the moon with what we're putting together."

He added: "It's been such a long time that I've done it that it's going to feel like a breath of fresh air. I think the fans are going to be over the moon with what we're putting together." Zendaya will also be returning as MJ in Spider-Man 4, along with Jacob Batalon as Peter Parker's best friend Ned. Sadie Sink has joined the cast, but her character has not been revealed. Ralph Ineson "felt like a Formula One car" during the making of The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The 55-year-old star plays villain Galactus in the new Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) blockbuster and explained the lengths that the crew had to go to keep him cool in his heavy costume. Ralph told Collider: "For the actor, it's like working in a huge rubber suit in a sauna, but you're not allowed to sweat. "So, I have a whole pit crew around me — I'm like a Formula One car — with people taking off bits of my costume in between takes to bring my body temperature down, and then bring it back on for the next take. "People are shoving air conditioning units up the back of my armour to keep my body temperature down. So, it's a really strange sight. There are eight people buzzing around me like a Formula One pit crew." Ralph explained that the "strangest" part about starring in the film is seeing his character recreated in toy form for merchandise. The Harry Potter star said: "It's really crazy. The maddest one for this, for me, is the popcorn bucket of Galactus' head, which is about this big. It's enormous! That's kind of surreal. "I saw a picture of a toy that's being released, which is kind of to scale to the normal toys, so the Galactus one is about two and a half feet tall. So, yeah, it's very strange to see yourself in toy form." Ineson explained that there was some dialogue from Galactus that he was disappointed to see absent from the flick's final cut, but he respects director Matt Shakman's editorial decisions. He said: "From my point of view, there's no kind of sections, but there were various versions, dialogue-wise, of certain speeches, and there were a couple of phrases that I particularly liked that I would have liked to have stayed in that were replaced by other ones. "But that's not my job. I don't do those things. That's Matt and editors." The Fantastic Four: First Steps also stars Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/ Invisible Woman and she has confessed to becoming a "nerd" about her alter ego. She told Variety: "I'm such a Sue nerd. "There was something so allegorical about her. She was called Invisible Girl. Then Psycho-Man comes and disrupts everything, and she has a meeting with her own dark side in Malice. She comes back, and she renames herself Invisible Woman. So she transforms from a girl to a woman. "There's something about meeting the hardest parts of yourself in Malice that felt extremely poignant to me. I'm really hopeful I might be allowed to be Malice at some point for her." Vanessa previously described how she loves to take on "challenging" roles. The Crown actress told TheTalks: "I really like pushing past my limits in that way - I love it. "When I read something and go, 'Uh, I don't know how I am going to do this,' then I know I should do it. Anthony Mackie has revealed the Avengers: Doomsday cast are still "in the midst of it" and production is "going well". The 46-year-old actor is set to wield the shield as Captain America once again for the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) blockbuster, and Mackie has now stressed that work on Avengers: Doomsday is ongoing. When Screen Rant asked the 8 Mile actor if Avengers: Doomsday was close to wrapping production, he said: "No. Hell no. No, we are in the midst of it. "I mean, it's such a big, moving set piece, and it's such a big story. The best part of shooting a Marvel movie is that it's always an ever-evolving canvas. There are those staple pieces, and then there are the pieces that circulate throughout the course of the shoot. "So, we're in the midst of it, but it's going well." Mackie also teased his Captain America would still be "butting heads" with Sebastian Stan's James 'Bucky' Barnes in Avengers: Doomsday. He said: "I talked to Sebastian yesterday. We're still butting heads. All we do is fight!" Avengers: Doomsday — which is due to hit screens on Dec 18, 2026 — will star Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Wyatt Russell as US Agent and Lewis Pullman as Sentry. The Fantastic Four will also play a big role in Avengers: Doomsday, with Pedro Pascal's Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby's Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn's Human Torch and Ebon Moss-Bachrach's The Thing all confirmed to be returning for the movie. As well as the Avengers and the Fantastic Four, Avengers: Doomsday will see the return of many major X-Men stars, including Sir Patrick Stewart's Professor X, James Marsden's Cyclops, Rebecca Romijn's Mystique, Kelsey Grammer's Beast, Alan Cumming's Nightcrawler and Channing Tatum's Gambit. Although exact plot points about Avengers: Doomsday are unknown, the movie will likely follow the Avengers, the New Avengers, the Fantastic Four and the X-Men as they desperately try to stop Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr.) from carrying out his catastrophic plans for the Multiverse. Mackie — who most recently starred as the Star-Spangled Man in Captain America: Brave New World — teased Avengers: Doomsday would see "a chaotic destruction of the world". He told Extra: "From my movie, we went out building on top of that to this just being a chaotic destruction of the world." The actor also said Avengers: Doomsday — which is being directed by Joe and Anthony Russo — would be "carrying over" the poignancy and depth of the last moments from 2019's Avengers: Endgame, in which Iron Man (Downey Jr.) sacrifices himself to save the universe, and Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) finally gets to lay down the shield and grow old with Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell). He explained: "When you look at the Marvel characters in the universe that we've created, there's an idealistic nature of the type of story you want and the type of you want coming from those films. "I've said it before and I'll say it again, that last moment in Endgame was probably one of the most poignantly realistic moments in film history. That was a true Marvel moment. "I don't think any other studio, any other directors, any other group of actors could have contextually put that moment together and made it that real.
