Kajol on paparazzi culture: Nysa was too young when paps began chasing her

India Today21 hours ago
Actor Kajol recently got candid about the constant scrutiny has impacted her children, Nysa and Yug. Sharing her perspective on paparazzi culture and online trolling, the actor spoke about the importance of open conversations at home, and how she's taught her children to focus on what truly matters. In a conversation with India Today's sister channel, The Lallantop, the actor addressed the culture and said, 'There are two types of things happening-people running behind with phones, and then there are trolls. Both are things my kids have been dealing with for a very long time. I wouldn't say it's something new, because both have seen a lot. Nysa has seen more, and I don't know why. She was very small when photographers started following her. Even at that point, we tried to protect them, but you can't protect them completely.'advertisementShe further added, 'You can explain things to them, talk to them, and tell them that this is also a part of this world, it might feel bad at this point, but don't pay attention to it. Especially the trolls, because if you really look at it, they are just 0.5 percent. The remaining 99.5 percent are people saying good things about them. So I tell my children to focus on that 99.5 percent, those people are genuine.'
'I also try to explain to them that they need to decide whose opinion matters to them. So I think conversations like these are something every parent should have with their children,' she concluded.Meanwhile, Kajol was last seen in 'Maa'. Directed by Vishal Furia, 'Maa' marks Kajol's first venture into horror in her over 30-year-long career. The film shares its universe with the 2023 supernatural thriller 'Shaitaan', which featured her husband, actor Ajay Devgn. Kajol stars as Ambika, a mother determined to protect her daughter Shweta from harm.'Maa' also features Indraneil Sengupta, Kherin Sharma, and Ronit Roy. The film is presented by Jio Studios and Devgn Films, produced by Jyoti Deshpande and co-produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak.- EndsMust Watch

Kajol Recalls Feeling "Helpless" Over Ajay Devgn's Clash With YRF: "It Is Neither Good..."

New Delhi: Kajol recently spoke about how she was affected during the clash between Ajay Devgn's production house and Yash Raj Films over the release of Son of Sardaar in 2012. What's Happening In an interview with The Lallantop, Kajol recalled feeling caught between the two sides, as she was close to both Ajay Devgn and Aditya Chopra. When asked about how she dealt with the controversy, Kajol said, "Fights are always difficult, especially when they remain unresolved for some time. At that point, when you have a situation like that in front of you, both parties were standing for themselves." She further added, "As somebody who was connected to both sides, I felt helpless. You have to wait for time to pass, so that the feelings subside. So that things can become ok again." She also said, "Change is change, it is neither good nor bad. It is written somewhere that change is eternal. It is the only thing which is constant." Background The controversy began when Ajay Devgn's production house, then known as Ajay Devgn FFilms (ADF), filed a complaint with the Competition Commission of India (CCI). The complaint alleged that Yash Raj Films had used its dominant market position to secure maximum screens for Jab Tak Hai Jaan, limiting the availability of screens for Son of Sardaar. Kajol was recently seen in Maa, directed by Vishal Furia. The mythological horror film was co-produced by Ajay Devgn and Jyoti Deshpande and released on June 27. She will next be seen in the action-thriller Sarzameen, which also stars Prithviraj Sukumaran and Ibrahim Ali Khan. The JioHotstar film is set to stream from July 25.

Maa Day 9 India Box Office: Kajol's supernatural-horror grows by 60 percent on 2nd Saturday; Nets Rs 1.60 crore

Maa, directed by Vishal Furia and starring Kajol, Ronit Roy, Indraneil Sengupta and others, after an ordinary Rs 26 crore net in week 1, saw a major drop in collections on 2nd Friday, impacted by new found competition in Dino and Jurassic World: Rebirth. It only collected Rs 1 crore on day 8. The Kajol movie, fortunately grew by 60 percent on 2nd Saturday netting Rs 1.60 crore, and it shall add another Rs 1.75 crore net or so on Sunday, to go past the Rs 30 crore net India mark. The Day Wise India Net Box Office Of Maa In India Is As Under Maa Has Got Appreciation, But It Has Not Translated To Strong Box Office Numbers Maa, despite the appreciation by its target audience, has not been able to make a mark at the box office, due to multiple other bigger films playing concurrently in theatres. Had it released in a silent release phase, the collections could have gone over Rs 40 crore and perhaps very close to Rs 50 crore too. Maa Has Done Reasonably For A Kajol Movie, But Unreasonably For A Movie From The World Of Shaitaan The collections of Maa so far are pretty reasonable, if seen as a Kajol movie. However, Maa is also directly linked to a brand like Shaitaan, and for that, it should have done better. It will now be over to Shaitaan 2 to draw in the big crowds and have the supernatural-horror franchise, up and running. Talking about the economics of Maa, it is a safe venture because of the presold non-theatrical deals, and the Rs 20 crore worth of global theatrical share. Kajol's Upcoming Movie Projects After Maa, Kajol will be seen in Sarzameen, co-starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and Ibrahim Ali Khan. The movie will stream on JioHotstar from 25th July, 2025. Kajol's next after Sarzameen is not confirmed. Maa In Theatres Maa plays in theatres now. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates on Kajol and Maa.
