Barry Bonds will be getting a statue outside the Giants' ballpark, team CEO says
SAN FRANCISCO — Barry Bonds will be getting a statue outside the San Francisco Giants' home stadium where he set baseball's career home run record, the team's CEO said.
Giants President and Chief Executive Officer Larry Baer was asked during a radio interview about a statue for Bonds, and he responded that it was 'on the radar.' But Baer didn't have any details of when that would happen.
'Barry is certainly deserving of a statue, and I would say should be next up,' Baer said during an appearance on San Francisco's 95.7 The Game. 'We don't have the exact location and the exact date and the exact timing. ... It's coming. All I can say is it's coming.'
Bonds played for San Francisco the last 15 of his 22 big league seasons, hitting 586 of his 762 homers while with the Giants from 1993-2007. He set the single-season MLB record with 73 homers in 2001, and hit his record-breaking 756th homer to pass Hank Aaron in a home game off Washington's Mike Bacsik on Aug. 7, 2007.
There currently are five statues outside Oracle Park, those of Hall of Famers Willie Mays, Willie McCovey, Juan Marichal, Gaylord Perry and Orlando Cepeda. The Giants retired Bonds' No. 25 jersey in 2018.
Bonds, a seven-time MVP and 14-time All-Star, is not in the Hall of Fame. He failed to reach the 75% threshold required during his 10 years on the Baseball Writers Association of America's Hall of Fame ballot, mostly because of steroids allegations that dogged him during his final years with the Giants. The Contemporary Player Committee also passed on electing Bonds in 2022, though the committee could reconsider Bonds' status.

The buzz keeps building as an Eagles rookie earns more praise from the media. This is probably a safe guess. Since you've watched the Philadelphia Eagles all your life, those of you who also love the college game have probably kept one eye on the Big Ten. These days, that's certainly harder than ever as it's now two schools short of becoming 'The Big 20'. Even with all of that being said, your Pennsylvania affiliations more than likely kept you from watching a ton of Nebraska football. Tom Osborne left a long time ago, and if we're being honest, most Eagles fans lost track of Matt Rhule after Philadelphia beat his Carolina Panthers in Week 5 of the 2021 season. The 2025 NFL Draft brought about some changes. Philadelphia drafted a Nebraska Cornhusker in Round 4, and though discipline tells us not to put too much stock in a rookie until he has played meaningful snaps, it's hard not to be excited. One of the most significant talking points we've heard all offseason is the number of players lost from the defensive roster. Frankly, that take seems overstated. One of those weapons is rookie Ty Robinson, the aforementioned 'Vanilla Gorilla'. Gosh, it's easy to fall in love with that nickname, and it's easy to love what Tim McManus said about him. Tim is ESPN's Eagles insider, and he recently participated in an NFC East roundtable. Once the topic turned to each team's most underrated move, Robinson earned his shout-out. "Drafting DT Ty Robinson in the fourth round (was Philly's most underrated move). With minimal contact during OTA and minicamp practices, the offseason program isn't exactly conducive to properly evaluating linemen. But that hasn't stopped some of his new teammates from speaking highly of the Nebraska product. "That boy is fire, I ain't going to lie," DT Jalen Carter said. "He's moving good. He's a big boy. ... I think he's going to have a big impact this season." Robinson's NCAA career ended with 134 tackles, including 27 for loss. He also racked up a dozen sacks and 12 pass breakups. He earned Third-team All-Big Ten honors in his swan song with the Cornhuskers last season. This next part, however, is the best part of the story. Rhule gave him a single-digit jersey number, an honor reserved for the tough players on his team who have earned his respect. Ladies and gentlemen, we all loved Milton Williams and are sorry he's gone, but Ty Robinson isn't going to settle into this defense just fine.

Bears have two of the least watchable games in 2025
The Chicago Bears are gearing up for an exciting 2025 season, but there will be no shortage of challenges given their second-most difficult strength of schedule that features slates against the AFC North, NFC East and two contests agains the rest of the NFC North. recently examined the most and least watchable games on the 2025 schedule. And while the Bears didn't have any games make the most-watchable list, they had two contests on the least-watchable list -- the Bears' Week 10 game against the New York Giants and Chicago's Week 15 contest against the Cleveland Browns. Using their BWI (Bookies Watchable Index), the Bears-Browns game received a a score of 30.7 while Chicago's least watchable game is against the Giants (30.35). While there's plenty of excitement surrounding the Bears heading into 2025, due in large part to the duo of Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams, the same can't be said for their opponents on this list, New York and Cleveland. The Giants finished with a 3-14 record, which earned them the fourth overall selection in edge rusher Abdul Carter. Meanwhile, the Browns are also coming off a 3-14 campaign, where they landed defensive tackle Mason Graham at fifth overall. Both teams have questions, particularly at the quarterback position, while expectations are high for Williams in Year 2. While the Bears have one of the most difficult schedules in the league, including games against the Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles, there are some winnable games on the schedule that should help make head coach Ben Johnson's first year a success. Details on why Ravens Mike Green and 29 other 2nd-round picks haven't signed rookie deals
Mike Green is one of 30 second-round picks from the 2025 NFL draft still unsigned, and Adam Schefter reports guaranteed money could be the holdup. The 2025 NFL draft concluded over six days ago, and while most of the first-round picks and late-round picks have signed, the thirty-second-round picks are still unsigned, with less than a month to go before training camps kick off around the league. Baltimore selected All-American pass rusher Mike Green with pick No. 59, and Adam Schefter reports that the former Texas star and 29 other second-round picks are haggling over guaranteed money on the standard four-year deal. First-round picks usually have guaranteed four-year deals with a potential fifth-year option, but up until this past April, fully guaranteed contracts weren't the norm for second-round picks. That all changed when the Texans gave Jayden Higgins, the 34th overall pick, the first fully guaranteed contract ever for a second-round pick on May 8. On May 9, the Browns followed suit, offering Carson Schwesinger, the 33rd overall pick in the second round, a fully guaranteed contract as well. Schefter reports that since then, no second-round picks have signed. NFL teams have no problem colluding against guaranteed contracts, and Green could miss time entering training camp if a deal isn't reached. It's a touchy scenario for Baltimore, which had an urgent need for more explosion at the edge rusher position, so they landed the draft's most talented but questionable prospect. Last season, as a redshirt sophomore, Green led the FBS in sacks (17.0), tackles for loss (22.5), sack yardage (144), and tackles by a defensive lineman (84). His 17 sacks established a new Sun Belt Conference record.
