Witnesses recalled crowds rushing to leave the venue, according to Fox 5 Atlanta, and MARTA officials told the outlet that a "stampede" occurred on the escalator at the nearby Vine City Station.
When someone began screaming and running, the escalator sped up before coming to a sudden stop, forcing people to fall into one another. Authorities said that one person had broken their ankle and seven more were taken to the hospital with minor injuries, per FOX 5 Atlanta. People were also seen on stretchers and wheelchairs.

The incident occurred following news of an Atlanta car break-in involving Beyoncé's choreographer, Christopher Grant, and dancer Diandre Blue. While they were eating, two suitcases were stolen from their 2024 Jeep Wagoneer rental car.
The 911 call was released by Atlanta news station WSB-TV.
"Someone broke into my car," Grant told the dispatcher. "I was parked in a garage while I went to a restaurant. But they stole, like my computers and everything, but it has the tracker on it."
"They have my computers, and it's really, really important information in there," he added. "I work with someone who's like of a high status, and I really need the, um, my computer and everything."
The theft was captured on camera, and an arrest warrant was issued, the Associated Press reported.

Boodarian is believed to have accessed the property through an unlocked door while Kaye and Deluca were away, though they returned while he was in their home. At that point, a "confrontation ensued," and the victims "succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds," the news release stated. Boodarian "fled from the residence on foot." Police were first alerted by a resident who hadn't heard from Kaye and Deluca for several days. Who Is Raymond Boodarian?
