How Ironheart Lays Groundwork for Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday

Yahooa day ago

Despite centering around the MCU's latest tech genius, Riri Williams, 's executive producer Ryan Coogler has said that he believes that the series will go a long way in setting up Doctor Doom's introduction in the much-awaited Avengers: Doomsday. In a recent interview, the Black Panther director opened up about how the content of the upcoming Disney+ show will help in laying the groundwork for Avengers 5.
During his red carpet appearance at the Los Angeles premiere of Ironheart, Coogler noted that the combination of technology and magic in the series will serve as a 'sample' for what fans can expect to see in Avengers: Doomsday. (via Deadline)
'It's so crazy to be putting this movie out now, at the time where AI is on the front of everybody's mind, technological ethics are on the front of everybody's mind,' the acclaimed filmmaker said, before adding, 'we didn't know it was going to be Dr. Doom and the Avengers when we first started, but he's a guy in publishing who's most famous for fusing technology and magic, so it's a great sample of things that are to come in probably what's going to be the biggest movie in Marvel history.'
Aside from building upon the story of Dominique Thorne's Riri Williams, Ironheart will also introduce MCU fans to Anthony Ramos' The Hood, a low-level vigilante who somehow gets his hands on a mystical cloak that draws power from the same magic wielded by Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange.
At the same event, Thorne also teased how her character will attempt to balance her technological skills with spectral magic in the Ironheart show, which will serve as a precursor to things to come in Avengers: Doomsday. 'I think it's a hilarious journey and also a really tempting journey that we see her go on once she realizes the full extent and capability of the magic side of the world,' the actress said.
The Ironheart series is on track to come out on Disney+ today. Meanwhile, Avengers: Doomsday will hit theaters on a delayed release date of December 18, 2026.

‘Predator: Badlands' Joins Disney's San Diego Comic-Con Plans

The hunt will be on at San Diego Comic-Con, where Predator: Badlands will get the spotlight. Per the Hollywood Reporter, the sci-fi film will get a Hall H panel during the convention weekend. It'll be the second big Disney movie of the fall season to make an appearance at the famed Hall, joining October's Tron: Ares. Both films will fill in for a lack of Marvel at this year's convention, and it'll be the Predator franchise's first theatrical movie to hit SDCC since Shane Black's 2018 reboot. (Prey, which premiered at SDCC 2022, sadly never got a theatrical release.) Like with Tron, Predator: Badlands hasn't had much marketing since its initial trailer and poster. The Hall H panel will hopefully feature a new trailer for the film, which centers on Dak (Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi), a young Yautja outcast teaming with the android Thia (Elle Fanning) to get back in his clan's good graces by hunting a worthy enemy. Prey director Dan Trachtenberg is back behind the camera for this one, and unlike Prey and this year's Killers of Killers, you'll be able to see Badlands on the big screen. San Diego Comic-Con runs from July 24-27, and Predator: Badlands hits theaters on November 7. While we wait for more info about it, might as well rewatch Prey or Killer of Killers over on Hulu. Michael B Jordan plays twins in "Sinners." Sinners — Ryan Coogler's hit vampire thriller starring Michael B. Jordan and Hailee Steinfeld — is coming soon to streaming on Max. Written and directed by Coogler, Sinners stars the filmmaker's Black Panther and Creed collaborator Jordan as twin brothers Smoke and Stack, who return home to Mississippi in 1932 after serving in World War I and working for the mob in Chicago. The logline for Sinners reads, 'Trying to leave their troubled lives behind, twin brothers return to their hometown to start again, only to discover that an even greater evil is waiting to welcome them back.' Sinners also stars Miles Caton, Jack O'Connell, Wumni Mosaku, Jayme Lawson, Omar Miller and Delroy Lindo. Sinners opened in theaters on April 18 and made its debut on digital streaming via premium video on demand on June 3. According to Warner Bros. Discovery Home Entertainment, Sinners will debut on the company's streaming service Max on Friday, July 4. Viewers can subscribe to an an ad-based tier for $9.99 per month, an ad-free tier for $16.99 per month or an ad-free tier with 4K Ultra HD Programming for $20.99 per month. Michael B. Jordan Had One Big Reservation About Being In A Vampire Movie Naturally, a movie with vampires is going to require fake fangs and blood, and as it turns out, Michael B. Jordan was not a fan of one of them while making Sinners. "I liked the fangs. Fangs were dope. The blood was a bit messy and uncomfortable at times. The blood was a lot," Jordan, sitting alongside Ryan Coogler, told People in an April interview. Coogler then shed a bit more light on Jordan's disdain for fake blood for People, adding, "I got called into a meeting a few weeks in by my producer and my wife Zinzi Coogler, and she was like, 'Hey, we gotta talk about Mike.' I'm like, 'What? What's going on?' And she's like, 'The blood — he doesn't like it.' I'm like, 'Wait, what?'" Jordan then brought a little more clarity to the situation. "First of all, there's a difference between complaining and venting,' Jordan told People, laughing. 'I was just more venting, you know what I'm saying? But they care about me, so they had a meeting. I appreciate the meeting." Sinners continues to be a monster hit in theaters, earning $277.6 million domestically and $86.6 million in international ticket sales for a worldwide box office tally of $363.8 million to date. Sinners had a $90 million production budget before prints and advertising, The Numbers reported. The film also earned a 97% 'fresh' rating from Rotten Tomatoes critics, who gave the film 375 reviews. In addition, Sinners earned a 96% 'fresh' score on RT's Popcornmeter based on 25,000-plus verified user ratings. Sinners arrives on Max on Friday, July 4.

Disney price target raised to $140 from $120 at Guggenheim

Guggenheim raised the firm's price target on Disney (DIS) to $140 from $120 and keeps a Buy rating on the shares. The firm, which updated its Disney model to better reflect a refined operating expense outlook at Linear Networks, modestly lower theatrical revenue from relative underperformance of recent films, better than previously forecast Sports advertising revenue and 'relatively resilient' attendance and travel trends in the Experiences segment, notes that it lifted its full year segment operating income forecast to $17.7B from $17.6B, which is 'modestly ahead' of consensus $17.65B. With Hulu now fully under Disney control, the firm views the company as 'well positioned to pursue a unified direct-to-consumer strategy' and further lean into bundle packaging to drive incremental revenue, the analyst added.
