Soap star Alan Fletcher says Neighbours is finishing ‘at its peak'
Fletcher, 68, who has played Dr Karl Kennedy for 30 years, said it is 'fair to say' he is now more famous in the UK than Australia due to the popularity of the show here.
He told ITV's Good Morning Britain (GMB): 'It's extremely popular. It sits in the top five programmes (on Amazon).

'Amazon gave us an extra 400 episodes, and we are eternally grateful.
'I have to say to you, when we finished filming, rather than the sadness we had the first time, I sat back and thought, 'Do you know what? We've been given the opportunity to make the best Neighbours we ever could have made'.
'That's where we finished up. I reckon Neighbours is at its peak.'
The cast wrapped filming on July 11 at Nunawading Studios and the soap's final broadcast after 40 years will be in December.
The programme, which launched the careers of Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, Margot Robbie and Guy Pearce among others, has followed the lives of people living and working in the fictional Melbourne suburb of Erinsborough since 1985.
Neighbours was dropped by Channel 5 in 2022 after it failed to secure new funding, with a finale episode in July that year attracting an average audience of 2.5 million when several well-known characters returned to the show to say goodbye.
The soap's return was announced in late 2022, with a social media clip featuring some of the characters being told the news.
In February this year it was announced the programme would end after reports production company Fremantle failed to secure a deal with Amazon.

Jeremy Clarkson announces big change to Farmer's Dog pub after customer's bold demand
The Clarkson Farm star has announced a change to operations after one customer's cheeky request. Jeremy Clarkson's pub, The Farmer's Dog, has made a noteworthy change to its operations after a request from a bold customer. The Clarkson's Farm star, has seemingly shown off his softer side with his latest decision to change his establishment's rules. Over the weekend, one hopeful fan reached out to Jeremy on X, asking: "Can you open your pub for me about six hours earlier on Monday, please? I was going to visit, but didn't realise you don't open until 5pm." The former Top Gear host replied: "Mondays are when our brilliant staff catch their breath." However, it appears that the 64-year-old TV star has had a recent rethink about the opening hours since replying to the fan. An update on the pub's Facebook page showed a group snap of the staff alongside the announcement of a new policy. The caption announced that Monday's would now be a day of rest for the entire team, the Express reports. It read: "We are giving our team Mondays to spend time recharging – we will be fully open Tuesday to Sunday in both the pub and the Grand Tour tent." The pub's website has also now been updated to reflect the new opening times. While the pub will be closed on Mondays going forward, it will still welcome customers six days a week from 11am to 11pm from Tuesday to Saturday. On Sundays, the iconic pub will be open from 11am to 10.30pm. Jeremy acquired the Asthall pub located in the picturesque Cotswolds for £1M, back when it was known as The Windmill. After revamping the pub and renaming it to The Farmer's Dog, which is believed to be a tribute to his Prime Video show Clarkson's Farm and his Diddly Squat Farm venture, the venue opened last August and has been thriving ever since. The pub's official website states: "The Pub isn't the only attraction at The Farmer's Dog. If the pub is full, or you fancy a quicker visit, head outside to our tent and check out: Hops and Chops, The Farmer's Puppy and Diddly Squat Farm Shop." Hops and Chops offers customers a carnivore's delight with its butchery and bottle shop combo, showcasing British-reared meats as well as Hawkstone lager or cider. Meanwhile, The Farmer's Puppy is essentially a mini version of the main pub, catering to customers during the bustling hours of 9.30am to 3pm from Tuesday to Thursdays. Opening hours extend to 4pm on weekends. The Diddly Squat Farm Shop is also a tempting treat for customers, being branded as "the best of the farm". It offers a posh emporium for those looking for something special.

Fans queue to sign book of condolence for ‘proud Brummie' Ozzy Osbourne
The book has been opened at the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, which is currently holding an exhibition about the late singer titled Ozzy Osbourne: Working Class Hero. Mourners also had the option to leave a voice note in any language they chose by speaking into a red phone. Osbourne was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2019 and died at the age of 76 on Tuesday morning, surrounded by his family. The news came a few weeks after he reunited with his Black Sabbath bandmates on July 5 to play a farewell gig at Villa Park – a stone's throw from where the band was formed in 1968. Tributes were led by his Black Sabbath bandmates, including Terence 'Geezer' Butler, Tony Iommi and Bill Ward, along with celebrity friends including Kiss star Gene Simmons and Queen guitarist Sir Brian May. Earlier on Thursday, Status Quo frontman Francis Rossi spoke on ITV's Good Morning Britain and described Osbourne as 'wild'. He said: 'He was a great young guy. And then obviously, American success got to him, I think. And it gets to a lot of us. You get carried away with all that stuff that one shouldn't. I did and I'm over it.' Osbourne was also described by the Lord mayor of Birmingham, Zafar Iqbal, as a 'proud Brummie' who helped put the city 'on the world map'. Mr Iqbal met the founding members of the heavy metal band, formed in the city in 1968, when they were presented with the freedom of Birmingham in June. He told the PA news agency: 'He (Osbourne) was very important and he was a proud Brummie. He loved the city. He will be much missed, I think, and he was loved by so many people in the city.' Other stars have also honoured the 'Prince of Darkness' by paying tribute to him during live concert performances, including Lady Gaga, Coldplay and Alice Cooper. In a statement shared on Instagram, Cooper said: 'He was and will continue to be a rock n roll legend. Rock n Roll is a family and a fraternity. When we lose one of our own it bleeds. I wish I would have gotten to know my brother Ozzy better.'
