Jenny Han Teases ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty' Season 3 Ending

Cosmopolitana day ago
You might think you know how The Summer I Turn Pretty will end, but according to author Jenny Han, you have no idea. Speaking about the third and final season of the Prime Video hit series, Jenny Han teased The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 ending, suggesting that the show might end without resolving the love triangle (gasp!).
Jenny hinted at a twist ending during an appearance on this week's Wild Card with Rachel Martin podcast. When the host suggested that the show had to end with Belly making a choice between Conrad and Jeremiah—it is the love triangle at the center of the series, after all—Jenny disagreed. 'Well, she doesn't,' the writer said. 'I don't think she has to choose one.'
Could Jenny really be saying that season 3 might end with Belly choosing...none of the above? In the books—spoiler alert!—Belly ends up marrying Conrad in the future, years after her engagement to Jeremiah (which we will see in season 3) ends. But back in March, Jenny hinted that the end of the show might be very different.
While speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Jenny mentioned that the season would include a few curveballs for fans of the trilogy. 'There are the things that they know and then there are things they think they know, and then there's going to be, hopefully, things that surprise them,' she said.
Jenny's statements are cryptic for sure, but do they really mean that Belly will end up choosing herself in the end? I'm not convinced. Despite telling Rachel Martin that she doesn't 'like too neat of an ending,' Jenny also said, 'My biggest thing is I really want people to love it, and I want people to feel satisfied with it.'
As a lover of the show, I can say with absolute certainty that if Belly ends up alone—without even a hint of a future with either Conrad or Jeremiah—the fans will not be satisfied. Personally, I'm hoping that what Jenny means by Belly not needing to choose is that the choice might be made for her, whether that means she gets dumped by Jeremiah or Conrad decides he's destined to brood by himself forever. Whatever happens, I will be watching.
The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 premieres Wednesday, July 16, on Prime Video.

'What the f*** is that': Clarkson battles 'monster moth' at farm

Jeremy Clarkson has encountered a monster moth at Diddly Squat Farm in the Cotswolds. The former Top Gear and Grand Tour host originally purchased the Chadlington spot near Chipping Norton in 2008. It has since been the main focus of the hit Prime Video show Clarkson's Farm, which was first released in 2021. With three further series out now, including the latest iteration, which saw eight episodes come out in May and June this year, Mr Clarkson's adventures on the farm are well documented. 26 Fourth of July Movies That Are Better Than Watching Fireworks

Every item on this page was chosen by an ELLE editor. We may earn commission on some of the items you choose to buy. Fireworks? Sure. A patriotic cookout? Maybe. A good movie lineup? Non-negotiable. Whether you're staying cool indoors or winding down after a day in the sun, nothing beats kicking back with a film that captures the spirit—or spectacle—of the Fourth of July. From nostalgic blockbusters to timeless dramas, these are the titles worth pressing play on during the long weekend. I mean, it's kind of all right there in the name. Watch Now on Prime Video Now that Lin-Manuel Miranda's Broadway hit is on Disney+, you can watch this Tony-winning musical right from home. Watch Now on Disney+ The maxi-sized Baker family (Steve Martin, Bonnie Hunt, Hilary Duff, Tom Welling, and more) trek to Lake Winnetka to celebrate Labor Day, but watching little Mark Baker (Forrest Landis) set off an entire backpack full of fireworks and causing their boat to explode is much more entertaining than seeing it happen to your cousin. The Vietnam War tale, based on a veteran's true story, gets automatic inclusion on this list. Celebrating our country's Independence Day means remembering the dark days in our nation's history too. This 2021 film does just that—it follows abolitionist Harriet Tubman (played by Cynthia Erivo) who led hundreds of enslaved people to freedom through the Underground Railroad. It doesn't get much more American than this coming-of-age comedy with a strong dose of '60s nostalgia. Watch Now The action goes down on a Fourth of July weekend, but this horror movie might make you too afraid of sharks to ever celebrate July 4 on a beach again. This classic celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, so it might be time to brave the waters. This comedy doesn't scream Fourth of July, but the four main characters are heading to New Orleans on July 4th weekend for the Essence Festival. Independence Day films don't always have to be about outright patriotism and freedom—a nice laugh on the holiday works too. A musical classic about the man who wrote 'You're a Grand Old Flag.' Mustache-less Chris Evans. Need I say more? Watch Now Disney+ For the more eclectic celebrators, Moonrise Kingdom is the ultimate summery Wes Anderson Americana flick—and probably the only film that could actually make you actually want to go camping. Ava DuVernay directs this Civil Rights film that follows Martin Luther King Jr.'s (David Oyelowo) journey to securing voting rights for Black Americans. A biopic that truly demonstrates patriotism and freedom. Watch Now on Paramount+ This is the second Tom Cruise combat movie on this list, and it helped make 'Maverick' a part of the American pop-culture lexicon. Sure, it's another Tom Cruise film, but this one's a sequel that was 36 years in the making. With a new generation of rising stars (hi, Glen Powell), high-speed jets, and shirtless beach football, what more could you want in a summer movie? Corn on the cob and a dip in the pool for Independence day? Boring. Instead, try a summer lake-house romp that explores all of America's scariest lore in one fell swoop. Few things are more American than baseball. Feminist film A League of Their Own shows a women-led team breaking the glass ceiling in the male-dominated league. Nicolas Cage turns into a historian obsessed with finding a hidden treasure with links to his family history. His fixation leads him to steal the Declaration of Independence, where a coded message to a map lies. Will he find the treasure or is he just another victim of a good ole conspiracy theory? Watch and you'll see! The ultimate action actor, Harrison Ford, plays a former soldier turned president who must save his family and staff from terrorists after they hijack his plane. Acclaimed filmmaker Steven Spielberg (who also helmed Jaws above) directed and produced this biopic about former president Abraham Lincoln, with Daniel Day-Lewis delivering a stunning performance in the titular role. This 2012 film has become a staple of American cinema, which makes it a perfect 4th of July film. Celebrate the Black veterans who risked their lives fighting the Confederacy in the Civil War. This film brings all the feels. Starring Denzel Washington and a 20-year-old Ryan Gosling, this sports film is based on a true story of a newly integrated high school football team and their Black coach. The performances are spectacular, but it's the soundtrack that'll give you goosebumps. This thriller follows U.S. intelligence officers and Navy SEALS on their decade-long search for Osama bin Laden. Enter: Maya, a CIA intelligence analyst who might have answers to all of their questions. The untold story of three courageous Black women who helped NASA journey to space is the perfect film to reminisce about America's history. Add the stellar performances of Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, and Janelle Monae, Hidden Figures might become one of your favorites. A love triangle and a historical drama all in one? Pop the popcorn, please. If Remember the Titans will make you tear up, then Saving Private Ryan will make you bawl. This war film follows a group of soldiers who venture behind enemy lines to rescue a lone soldier whose brothers have all been killed in combat. Watch Now on Prime Video Okay, technically it's not about the Fourth—but Eddie Murphy arriving in Queens in search of true love is a tribute to the American Dream story if we've ever seen one. Packed with iconic lines and peak '80s style, it's patriotic in its own way. Watch Now on Pluto TV Few movies capture the freedom of summer quite like this nostalgic coming-of-age classic. There's baseball, fireworks, s'mores, and just the right amount of childhood chaos. Watch Now on Hulu

8 top new movies and shows to stream 4th of July weekend on Netflix, Prime Video and more (July 4-6)

Fourth of July weekend is here, and the streaming lineup is lighting up your screens like fireworks. Celebrate with new shows and movies to watch this weekend on Netflix, Prime Video and more of the best streaming services. It's a movie bonanza this weekend, starting with two action-packed original premieres. 'The Old Guard 2" brings back Charlize Theron and her band of immortal mercenaries, while "Heads of State" sees John Cena and Idris Elba engage in high-stakes political rivalry and oil-and-water comedy. Plus, one of the biggest movies of the year, "Sinners," hits HBO Max. On the TV side, the much-anticipated new season of 'Sandman' is ready to invade your dreams. Here's our guide to what to watch this weekend. You had me at Charlize Theron and Uma Thurman wielding katanas. The first 'Old Guard' was a standout 2020 gem: a raw, stylish action movie anchored by Theron's battle-worn Andy leading her band of immortal soldiers. The sequel ups the ante with Thurman as Discord, the oldest (and moodiest) immortal around. Five years after the original sliced its way to Netflix glory, the crew reunites with even sharper blades and deeper grudges. Show up for the brutal but beautiful action scenes, stick around for the brooding existential crisis. Streaming now on Netflix John Cena as a doofus American president and Idris Elba as Britain's gruff prime minister? Together, they make an action buddy comedy duo I would vote for. 'Heads of State' finds these feuding leaders on the run after an Air Force One assassination attempt tanks their PR stunt. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. After the plane crashes, Cena and Elba bicker as they're forced to rely on each other to make it out alive, while Priyanka Chopra Jones shows as an MI6 agent who's the only adult in the room. 'Heads of State' offers good old-fashioned action mixed with snarky banter — a great choice for a popcorn movie night. Streaming now on Prime Video Ryan Coogler's completely original vampire tale hits like a shot of moonshine. The director turns the Mississippi Delta into a blood-soaked blues opera, where Michael B. Jordan plays not one but two bootlegging brothers trying to outrun their sins. It's 1932, and twins Smoke and Stack are back home to open a music haven, only to find something far more dangerous than Jim Crow lurking in the shadows. 'Sinners' is part horror, part Southern fable and part fever dream — unlike anything I've seen in a while. Yeah, it's a vampire movie, but also a celebration of Black resistance, joy and survival. Streaming now on Max Marvel's Thunderbolts is less Avengers, more group therapy with weapons. Florence Pugh's Yelena leads this scruffy crew of betrayed antiheroes, including Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), U.S. Agents (Wyatt Russell), Red Guardian (David Harbour) and a mysterious sad sack named Bob (Lewis Pullman). When they're forced into a mission by the very shady CIA boss (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), they must contend with bitter rivalries, bruised egos and a lot of emotional baggage. This isn't the usual shiny superhero team-up — and exactly what Marvel needed to shake up its franchise. Streaming now with purchase on Amazon or Apple This isn't "Swan Lake," but rather a 'John Wick' spinoff sends Ana de Armas twirling through the action franchise's universe with a grudge to settle. Set between 'Parabellum' and 'Chapter 4,' the flick follows Eve Macarro, an orphaned dancer trained by the Ruska Roma, a ballet school doubling as an assassin factory. When her father's murderers surface, she breaks ranks to hunt them down, slicing through an army of killers with everything from samurai swords to ice skates. Anjelica Huston rules the school with iron poise, and Keanu Reeves makes a quick but crucial appearance. Streaming now with purchase on Amazon or Apple The fantasy drama kicks off its final season with a first volume that throws Dream (Tom Sturridge) into serious hot water. Hell's out for payback, his family's falling apart and old ghosts keep haunting him. As the Lord of Dreams battles demons, untangles conspiracies and meets new characters like Delirium (Esmé Creed-Miles), the story twists and turns. The second volume arrives July 24, with a special bonus episode coming July 31. Brace yourself for a wild, visually stunning and chaotic farewell to this intense series. All 6 episodes streaming now on Netflix The finale of 'Ironheart' serves up three intense episodes that push Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) to her limits. Chicago's streets turn into a battleground where advanced technology collides with dark magic, and long-standing tensions finally boil over. Riri must tap into all her brilliance to safeguard what's important. This Marvel miniseries wraps up with gripping action, heartfelt moments and a clear message: This rising hero's journey is only beginning. Episodes 4-6 streaming now on Disney Plus The 'Duster' finale speeds forward with a whirlwind of double-crosses, kidnappings and mysteries that may give you whiplash. Jim Ellis (Josh Holloway) faces his biggest challenge yet as he digs deeper into the truth about his brother Joey. Add to that the abduction of his handler, FBI Agent Nina Hayes (Rachel Hilson), which forces him to decide whether to save her or himself. And that stolen case everyone's after? It holds the secret to a bombshell that could shatter everything. With season 2 still uncertain, 'Duster' ends on a note that'll have fans hungry for more. Episode 8 streaming now on HBO Max
