M&S shoppers go wild for new strawberry products after sell-out sandwich
Marks & Spencer fans are excited after hearing news of the retailer's newest summer strawberry offerings, after the flurry of intrigue around its Red Diamond strawberry and creme sandwich. The coveted sandwich has been a sell-out hit among shoppers keen to sample the blend of sweetened bread, fresh strawberries and lightly whipped cream cheese.
Now, the popular retail chain has delighted customers with news of more strawberry-themed sweet treats, from cheesecake to lemonade. M&S is an iconic staple on the British high street, despite its humble beginnings as a market stall. Founded in Leeds in 1884, the beloved store maintains its relevancy with a product line renowned for its high quality.
There's something for everyone, with on-trend fashion and clothing options for all ages, as well as accessories, homeware and furniture.
Shoppers can also fill their cupboards and fridges at M&S's Foodhalls, where there's a vast array of in-house food and drink, branded products and much more.
Like its high street competitors, M&S optimises social media to connect with customers, offering regular updates and sneak peeks of all the newest product arrivals and releases.
The retail chain boasts a string of popular Instagram accounts for its multiple departments.
A recent post, which features presenters Emma Willis and Rochelle Humes, details a new line-up of similar products for those who've yet to get their hands on the sandwich, or crave another sweet fix.
In the footage, Emma and Rochelle sample and rate items like a punnet of Red Diamond strawberries; strawberry lemonade - which they branded a 'banger' and a 'winner' - strawberries and cream 'mini bites' made with 'clusters of cornflakes, shortcake biscuits, marshmallow and dried strawberries'; and a cheesecake.
Towards the clip's conclusion, Rochelle declared: 'Honestly, I didn't think I could love strawberries anymore.'
In the caption accompanying the footage, Emma Willis penned: 'Tennis season is here, and we know you've all been getting berry excited about THAT viral Marks and Spencer Food sandwich this week... so what better time for us to try some of their other iconic strawberries & cream themed launches for summer!
'Up first, this fabulous fruity Collection Red Diamond Strawberry Lemonade is the perfect serve on warm summer days.
'Then we have these iconic Strawberries & Cream Mini Bites which are ace if you love those classic flavours of Eton Mess!'
Emma then added: 'And if you fancy playing doubles with your two favourite desserts, it's got to be the new Victoria Sponge Cheese-Cake - soft sponge cake topped with strawberry jam, Madagascan vanilla cheesecake and a berry glaze.
'We reckon that's game, set and MATCH for us!!'

Churchill's charming, chummy cigar
(We're joking, of course. The parsimonious Brown would never waste something as valuable as a toe on anything as trifling and insignificant as a Blair buttock.) The Diary doesn't believe the holders of great office should ever reveal their feelings to the nation. What happened to the glory days when a British politician possessed a lip as stiff as a Keanu Reeves performance? Winston Churchill's cigar showed more emotion than the mighty warrior, while Clement Attlee had a moustache instead of a personality. It's true that some great leaders have, on occasion, boo-hooed in public. The Diary Editor, for example, has been known to moisten around the tear ducts when one of his minions begs for a wage increase. Happily the Ed quickly cheers up when he rejects such an insolent proposal, and, instead, fires the ungrateful wretch. There is one occasion when emotions can be openly displayed; when oohing and aahing at Diary tales, such as the following classic yarns from our archives… Dead lucky A reader attending the100th birthday party of a friend's great grandmother asked the old lady if she was now looking forward to her 101st birthday. 'Yes,' replied the birthday gal. 'I'm encouraged by the statistic that very few people in Scotland die between their 100th and 101st birthdays.' Mag nag A reader waiting at his optician watched an old chap sitting opposite gesture at the glossy magazines on the table in front of him and tell his wife: 'If we could read them, we wouldn't have to be here, would we?' Airhead A Glasgow reader was in a West-End bar where he spotted a chap of a certain age, who should have known better, chatting up a woman many years younger than him. His patter didn't appear to be working, as our reader heard the young woman rather viciously, but perhaps not unfairly, ask the chap: 'Are you really that bald, or is your neck just blowing a bubble.' Gunning for geezer A music-loving reader was at a Glasgow gig of prog rockers Abel Ganz when a band member announced that the next track was from their album Shooting Albatross. A confused punter in the crowd shouted out: 'Who's Albert Ross?' Doggone it A reader told us a chap in the pub was complaining about his neighbour's pet pooch constantly barking in the garden and driving everyone mad. 'I'm going to kidnap that mutt,' the chap fumed, 'and put it in my garden to see how he likes it.'

Taste of Ukraine brings beautiful bakes to Llangollen
A woman from Ukraine has launched her 'dream' café in the tourist hot spot of Llangollen. After initially launching as part of Wrexham's new Chapter Court, owner Anna Samsonidze found a building spacious enough for the café and kitchen to be located in one place. She relocated to Oak Street in bustling Llangollen, which has just been named as one of the top destinations to visit this summer by Trip Advisor. The picturesque town can get really busy though and car parking at Market Street was practically gridlocked when we tried to find a space. Anna used to have her own bakery in Ukraine, which also supplied cakes to other stores in the area. However, after the war started, she left with her four children, and moved to Wales in October 2022. She first focused on learning the language but then decided to start her own business. She says the café is a real family effort with her children helping out when they can. She opened Anna's Bakery and café earlier this year, and welcomed customers to try a delicious selection of freshly made cakes, pastries and artisan bread. The bakery is a proud unique blend of British and Ukrainian bakes, including one that Anna calls 'Kraffin', a hybrid of puff croissant and muffin, and Syrnyky, cottage cheese-inspired pancakes that are soft in the middle and golden-crisp on the outside. The wonderful aroma of freshly baked bread is one of life's simple pleasures and you won't be disappointed as you walk through the café doors. Customers had the choice of Georgian, multi-seed or wholemeal bread, with some disappointed that the popular sourdough had long sold out. Our eyes were instantly drawn to a large fridge display, which showed off the delicious looking cakes and bakes with a generous number of flakey pastries on top of the counter. We sat on a table for two and noticed art prints on the wood paneled wall, which showed Ukrainian and Georgian recipes. The hot food menu included lots of meals that I had never experienced before such as Khinkali, (Georgian dumplings with meat or cheese), Imeruli Khachapuri, (stone baked bread stuffed with a blend of cheeses). Derumy, (potato fritters served with mushroom sauce) Although, they also offered, the not so mysterious and more familiar British favourite Chicken Kyiv. One of the most popular items on the menu was the chicken pie, which was stuffed with chicken and cheese. We noticed that the customers couldn't get enough of them. However, we had our beady eyes on the cake selection, which included pakhlava, medoviks, honey cake, or the more familiar chocolate brownies. After a lot of deliberation, we eventually picked a Napoleon, which was a classic Ukrainian cake, made of very thin and flaky puff pastry, cake layers and a smooth, rich and luscious pastry cream. We also had a very photogenic fruit cake, which was a layered sponge packed with fresh cream. It was topped by luscious fresh fruit, which give me the excuse that some of the cake, was at least healthy, and passed as one of the recommended five portions of fruit for the day. We also tried two small unusual looking strawberry zefir cakes. Zefir is a type of soft confectionery made by whipping fruit and purée with sugar and egg whites into a swirl. The resulting texture is both soft and spongy and tasted a little bit like a small strawberry meringue. Next to the counter was a fridge with chilled drinks but we were more interested in the hot drink's section. We couldn't see any obvious Ukrainian drinks so opted for a good old hot chocolate and a frothy cappuccino. The hot chocolate was creamy and smooth and did the perfect job of washing down the crumbs. Customers were genuinely friendly and curious in the café. For instance, the owner was asked how to say 'thank you' in Ukrainian or about a recipe for how to bake one of the delicious looking cakes on the counter. It looked like the people of Llangollen, have taken the small Ukrainian café and its owners to the bottom of their heart. There is so much to do in Llangollen with its many natural and cultural attractions. The town is absolutely awash with tourists, browsing its many independent shops, cafes and welcoming pubs. Now, you can add the wonderful Anna's Bakery to the long list of must-visit places in this most scenic of towns. The Facts - Anna's Bakery Fruit cake £4.50 Napoleon Cake £4.00 Zefir £2.50 Cappuccino £3.50 Hot chocolate £3.95 Total £18.45 Opening Times: Tuesday to Saturday, from 7.30am until 5pm Sunday from 7.30am until 2pm Atmosphere - Made with love. Car Parking - Market Street car park in the centre of Llangollen. Disabled Access - Access possible although not much room inside Service - Order at the counter Overall - The Ukrainian bakery and café serving up homemade cakes in the bustling town of Llangollen.
