Luxury Bookings Drive Strong Trading Following Cunard's 2027 Programme Launch
Both the UK and North American markets contributed significantly to this success, with bookings up almost 50% in the UK and more than 100% in North America.
There has also been a notable surge in demand for Cunard's most exclusive luxury suites. Bookings for Queens Grill and Princess Grill suites rose by over 100% compared to the same launch period last year, reflecting growing global interest in Cunard's distinctive Grills experience.
Queen Mary 2's Transatlantic Crossings continue to perform strongly. This iconic route remains one of Cunard's most popular and continues to attract strong interest from guests around the world.
Summer 2027 programme
Cunard's latest programme of extraordinary voyages boasts 195 new itineraries across its iconic fleet, visiting 115 destinations in 32 countries between April 2027 and January 2028.
The new itineraries include 93 UNESCO World Heritage sites. And with 18 overnight port calls and 33 late-evening departures, the programme offers even more opportunities to explore the world.
The programme offers more variety and choice than ever before, with three of Cunard's iconic Queens offering roundtrip voyages from the UK for the first time since 2018 – increasing the capacity of Southampton departures by 54% year on year.

13 Things to Never Pack in a Carry-on for International Trips, and What to Bring Instead From $8
In my years as an Italian travel writer and frequent flier, I've come to learn the hard way that your international flight experience can be seriously impacted by what you pack. And with airlines increasing baggage fees to near astronomical levels, I've started traveling with only a carry-on suitcase and a personal item bag to cut down on unnecessary costs. Through trial and error, I've discovered the 13 things you should never pack in your carry-on suitcase for an international trip, as well as what you should definitely have on hand. Smart tech items like noise-canceling earphones, matching sets to streamline your wardrobe, and space-saving items such as compression packing cubes are all travel essentials that help me maximize my limited luggage real estate and comfort levels on even the longest of flights. The good news is that many of my favorite must-haves are currently on sale at Amazon, and they start at just $8. There's no doubt that vacuum seal bags are great at compressing clothing, but once compressed, the bags' material is rigid and hard to cram into a carry-on suitcase (not to mention they're notorious for adding extra weight). I prefer compression packing cubes, like this set from Gonex, not only for their compressing ability but also because of how squishy and flexible they are—their ripstop nylon material makes it easier for me to fit more into my carry-on suitcase. And, because they compress via a zipper, I don't need to carry around a hand pump or worry about finding a vacuum. I travel with a lot of tech, which means that I'm usually dragging behind too many cables and adaptors for my phone, portable chargers, camera batteries, and Amazon Fire Tablet. To keep everything organized in one easy-to-reach space, I use a cable organizer, like this one from Fyy. I know, I know—wired earphones are a thing of the past, but they're still handed out on flights, and I tend to see more people than not who accept and use them to watch an in-flight movie. Wired earphones get in the way and don't necessarily provide the best audio quality, unlike these Apple AirPods Pro, which are wireless and noise-canceling. I pair them with this traveler-loved, pocket-sized Bluetooth audio transmitter, which lets me connect my AirPods to the airplane's seatback television. My AirPods help drone out the general cabin noise and the rumbling jet engines, letting me focus on my music, movie, or audiobook. And for serious wrinkles, I usually spray my clothing and then hang them up in the bathroom when taking a hot shower and let the steam do the rest. Traveling by plane for extended periods of time can leave you feeling and looking like a dehydrated husk, which can also make it harder to fight jet lag. That's why staying hydrated is essential when up in the air. I always bring my stainless steel Hydro Flask water bottle with me when I travel, and fill it up at the airport fountains and when flying (some flight attendants will generously fill it up for me). Bid to make HMO lawful that 'plays crucial role providing affordable housing' in city
An application has been submitted to Newport City Council for a lawful development certificate for a house in multiple occupation (HMO). The planning application was submitted by Mr Fernando Enrique Mendoza Contreras on June 6 this year for a lawful development certificate for a long-standing HMO at 4 Fields Road in Newport. The application seeks legal recognition of the property's use as a C4-class HMO. Mr Mendoza Contreras said the property has operated as a HMO since at least October 12, 2013. This is before the introduction of Class C4 under Welsh planning regulations in 2015 and well before Mr Mendoza Contreras acquired the property in 2018. The applicant said the property is run responsibly, with shared facilities and private rooms for tenants. Weekly safety inspections are carried out by an estate agent, and the property complies fully with housing and safety regulations. Mr Mendoza Contreras said: "The HMO plays a crucial role in providing affordable housing for students, young professionals, and individuals referred by local authorities." "No complaints have been received from neighbours since 2018. "We manage tenancy agreements properly, maintain strong community relations, and support tenants in achieving their personal goals." Upon consultation with local authority representatives, Mr Mendoza Contreras was advised to apply for a lawful development certificate to clarify the legal use of the property. In support of the application, the applicant has submitted a copy of his Rent Smart Wales landlord licence which was granted on June 19, 2018, and was valid until June 18, 2023, with the property now under the care of an estate agent. The licence confirms his compliance with the Housing (Wales) Act 2014 and adherence to the national Code of Practice. No objections have been reported as part of the application to date. A decision from Newport City Council is pending.

Derby gets tough on HMOs after refusal on 'free-for-all' estate
Plans to move more residents into a 'filthy' Derby estate have been quashed after it was claimed the number of HMOs in the area had 'gone too far'. More than 50 people signed a petition against plans for another house of multiple occupation (HMO) to be allowed in the New Zealand ward. The plans submitted called for a rear extension so a property could house six individual occupants on Howe Street. The street is part of an estate where there are serious concerns regarding its appearance, fly-tipping, bins left on streets and parking. The rejection is one of the first signs seen publicly that Derby City Council is getting tougher on HMOs after long campaigning, which triggered new rules to come into force. Officers said a 'lack of communal space for residents would result in a significantly harmful impact on the quality of living environment for occupiers'. Earlier this year a new Article 4 Direction came into force following major concerns that a high concentration of HMOs were causing problems such as fly-tipping and parking. The Article 4 direction, which was approved by the Government, aims to give Derby City Council more control and powers in regulating HMOs. Before the new rules came in, any HMO of up to six occupants was allowed as permitted development. But now those of any size within certain areas must require planning permission. Howe Street resident Sally Bareham told the planning committee the area was 'filthy and neglected' and another HMO was not needed. She said: 'We have 86 private landlords in the area, mainly short-term lets vacating regularly, leaving messes. Unless you live here you can't imagine how depressed we are watching more family homes being sold cheaply to landlords because the area is so filthy and neglected.' Chair of the planning committee Councillor Jerry Pearce said the decision was 'straightforward' before the vote took place.
